Had a lovely flat white here before a drive out to Wellington. Being from CA, the coffee in New Zealand is exceptional for the most part. They have a wide array of foods and baked goods. We were recommended the cafe by John from Extreme Backpackers in Turangi. I was really delighted by the antique decor--if you go to the far right of the cafe there's a cozy little booth with an old rotary phone!

Nice selection of food. Great courtyard garden. Rugs provided for colder days. Coffee good. The muffin we had looked delicious but was a bit bland - all fruit on top and not much inside
We had a perfectly adequate lunch after stopping in this town on the way from Wellington yo Rotoroua. Their kitchen was closed but I had a sausage roll and my wifex a croissant sandwich. 44 bucks NZ including a tea, coffee and dessert read more
Cute cafe in a cute town, perfect for a road trip rest stop. They offer many muffins and scones , as well as lunch menu with lamb and steak. I wish I was hungry enough to order one of their delicious sounding dishes. Clean bathroom, friendly staff, delicious cafe. Perfect pit stop in this little town. read more

Terrific, the friendliest place in town. Bright and light and airy, with one of the original phone switchboards still in situ. A whole cabinet of gluten-free food and best of all keto frittatas, light but nutritious, so much better than the usual gluggy wheaty things that fill most cafe cabinets. But having said that there is another cabinet of pastries and sandwiches and the rest which all looked beautifully made. Wonderful flat white that powered the rest of my journey to Wellington. read more

Excellent place and really the only place for an evening meal currently in Taihape. Home bakes and slices are yummy. I stayed on for dinner and loved the fish and chips. Taihape may not be near the seas but they were very yummy. Got chocolate made with soya was appreciated and very good, always love the marshmallow on the side. read more

Food was delicious, though pricey. Service was good, but a little slow. This is a great place to stop if you are driving through town, are not in a hurry, and want delicious French food. read more

Service is good here and a cool setup, both indoor and outdoor. Food is quite expensive I thought. Very good variety of cabinet food, baked goods, rolls and salads. I ordered from the menu, the Le Cafe Stack which was overpriced by about $2. The eggs were poached and overcooked & very little hollandaise sauce. Disappointing for what could have been a really good meal. Coffee is hit and miss, can be good some days and average others. Lucky for these guys there isn't much competition in Taihape but even in a larger city, I think they'd still do ok. read more

Regular spot for coffee and a cake. Good atmosphere, coffee can be hit or miss sometimes, as can the service, but when it's good, it's great! read more

For our 2 weeks holiday in New Zealand it was the worst cafe restaurant. I had 2 pieces of bread and unsmeshed avacado for $15 People left unfinished meals at the tables. Service was apaling we needed to ask for the glass of water. ... read more
Decided to ignore all other suggestions for great places to eat in Taihape as we had been here before and love the place. Nice menu, great choices of counter food. Even give you lovely blankets for those cold days. Very disappointed this visit. Tables that came in after us Received their food before us. Burgers were very, very average. To be fair, if components eaten separately, all nice. Great salad and dressing, smokey bacon and lovely cheese. But all together, not a peasant experience as salad dressing clashed with relish in burger. Unforgivable -- bun was stale. Would think again about coming here as there are several other places that have received better reviews. read more

Always consistently good. Have been coming here for years and living it every time. This place must be run by people who care about what they do. read more
