The employees were very kind and attentive, despite my extremely limited French. There was American music playing while I was there, and the staff were obviously accustomed to tourists. But it felt like a local place. I noticed the staff greeting a few patrons by name. During my visits, I ate the avocado toast once, the boeuf bourguignon twice, and several different desserts. Typically served on a skewer these were thin chicken breasts, covered in sauce served on a bed of rice. So good! My favorite dish there, may seem so basic, but their cesar salad. It blows any salad I have had in the US out of the water. Hard boiled eggs are in it, a large fresh chicken breast, and all the ingredients taste fresh. I've had their burgers, also fabulous and their hot chocolate! I have never left unsatisfied and will be my go-to place if I ever find myself in Paris again.

The wonderful server helped us decide on what we should order and even accommodated our Mimosa request (apparently mimosas are not a thing here). I had the scrambled eggs which were done so well! They were the best I've ever had. I didn't even know I cared about eggs until now and of course since we were in the land of croissants...they were to die for! The church contains the organ Widor played all his life. His organ symphonies were composed for THAT organ. If there is either a church service or an organ concert at Saint Sulpice - Just go. Period. As for the cafe, Don't plan to have a major meal here. But for sitting, having a coffee or a glass of wine and looking at the view, It is hard to beat. The neighborhood is filled with Latin Quarter artists, intellectuals and fakers looking like artists and intellectuals. The balance of tourists and French in their arty clothes is 40-60. So there is a lot to see if you just want to people watch. If you want to look less like a tourist, and more like an artist or an intellectual, a) Wear a scarf (foulard). Looking at everyone around you will show you how to wear it. b) Read a book in French. or at least look like you are reading a book in French. There are a zillion bookstores around from which you can get something with an impressive title and cover graphic. Holding the book upside down or Reading "The 100 Best Restaurants in Paris" Will blow the plan. Buying books "The 100 Best Restaurants in Paris" can be a great deal ... Since the books in French take you to less touristy places than the books in English. You don't have to understand all the words. Just look at the name, the address, the pictures and how many $$$$ are at the top. But read that one in the privacy of your hotel room as if it were a guide to overcoming erectile dysfunction. At the Cafe de la Mairie, better to be reading "Surmonter La Crise Ecologique: Vers un Critique du Productivisme" or "Incendie Sur Six Continents: L'Evolution de Hip-Hop Mondial". A good scarf and a glass of red wine and you are in business.

Service was decent, I thought it could have been more attentive though. They offer a set price meal of a starter/main course or main course/dessert during both lunch and dinner. I ended up ordering the starter and plate for my meal. My starter came out first and I ended up ordering the French Onion Soup. They also gave us a complimentary basket of French bread when the soup arrived. The soup was a generous portion, topped with broiled comté cheese and baguette pieces. First time have authentic French Onion Soup and I can say this was magnificent! The soup had copious amounts of perfectly cooked onions, these cheese was layered on perfectly, and baguette absorbed the luscious soup so well! I would highly recommend this as a starter. About 10 minutes later my entree arrived. For my entree, I opted for the Sea Bass Fillet which came with seasonal vegetables. This was a simple yet very tasty dish. The sea bass was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The vegetables were also cooked nicely. Needed some salt, but so do most meals in France. A very balanced, fresh meal that is sure to please. I tried some of my friends mashed potatoes that came with her entree--and WOW. They were whipped with lots of butter, just heavenly! Overall, L'Atelier du Marché provided a very nice meal for us. We left full and very satisfied with our experience. They place was lively with great vibes. Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the aesthetic of the restaurant.
