It's a rarity to find a pub or bar in the hustle and bustle of Surfers Paradise where the staff actually enjoy working there. It definitely makes a difference to the venue's vibe! The bar staff also enjoy a good chat and a bit of banter across the bar and this is one of the few Irish pubs in Surfers that actually employees Irish people! Not only adding to the atmosphere, but it means there are staff who can actually pour a good pint of Guinness! There is live music most nights of the week from 9pm, with a band on every Friday and Saturday night. True to their roots there is also traditional Irish entertainment there every Sunday afternoon. In terms of food it has a great range of pub style food at great prices. I've found the food to always be amazing, even the specials (usually $10-15) are spot on! You definitely can't go past the $10 steaks that they do for lunch and dinner! One of the main things that I LOVE about the food here is that they stick to what they're good at; good quality pub-style food at a reasonable price! This is a great pub that caters for everyone, from families, to older couples and young 20-somethings looking for a good night out, there is something for everyone in Fiddlers. Walking in I immediately noticed it reminded me of Islands or Dukes from the States. It has surfboards all around, focuses on the beach, and is a popular burger joint. I also ordered a virgin strawberry daiquiri as I dint drink alcohol but it sounded delicious. The food came out relatively fast and my burger was delicious! It was far better than I expected. The drink was fantastic as well, however lost one star on the review due to them charging me the same price as if I had gotten it with alcohol. Overall a fun place to go with a group of friends or a very casual date night. It tends to get pretty loud so I wouldnt go here on a date if you want to talk and get to know someone.

We made a booking a week in advance with the 'special occasion: date night' note. On the night, we called the restaurant to inform that we were running 10 minutes late. No problems. When we arrived, there was a queue of people in front of us. Unfortunately it didn't take long for the excitement to turn into a big time disappointment. After a short wait, our turn came. 5 awkward minutes passed by without 'hi' or even an eye contact by the receptionist. She must be reading breaking news on her tablet. Red flag #1. A tall, white and bald wait staff brought us to the table at a corner. When we asked if there was any chance we could move to one of the tables with the water view, we were told they were all taken. Fair enough. When we asked again if we could move to one if it becomes available throughout the night, the waiter told us that we stay at the same table once seated and that is how it works at the restaurant. Shocker. Surprised, I told him that this is the first time I visited a place with such a rule and that it doesn't commonly happen in Melbourne. His reply: 'I was in Melbourne for 15 years' to which I said 'I've been in Melbourne for 20 years'. At this point, I was convinced he was getting emotional. Red flag #2. As he walked off, I followed on and said 'it is alright, I am sure you are trying your best.' to which he whimpers 'and you are not'. Yeah he was pissed and amateur enough he couldn't hide it. Another wait staff, a white lady who seemed pregnant, approached us to pour some tap water. Still trying to comprehend the unreasonable rudeness by the bald waiter, I asked the lady if that is how things work around us. She flat out ignored us and walked away. Must be the wife of the other waiter. Red flag #3. After 3 minutes according to my watch, she walked towards us again. Perhaps she could answer my question I thought to myself. Nope. She just wanted to sell drinks. To be fair, nothing wrong with that, except all of the staff at Omeros seemed to have forgotten they are in the 'hospitality' industry to 'serve' the patrons. At this point I feel sorry for Omeros brothers as a fellow businessman. I just cannot imagine having such staff myself. We informed them that we couldn't find anything to eat and that we were sorry to leave. The bald waiter once again showed a great display of who's the boss by saying 'please don't be sorry, we are thankful.' ... before starting to whimper once again with an inaudible voice criticizing my attitudes. It is possible that we've somehow got under his skin, or that both staff were having a particularly bad night, or perhaps that they were just racists. Who knows. I just wish that others won't have to ruin their nights because of these guys at Omeros.

On a side note, I ordered my French fries with a side of ranch, and the American server asked me where I was from. When I replied that I'm from Michigan, she said only people from the States order ranch with their fries, and we commiserated about our shared love of ranch. Haha. She also didn't charge me for the ranch. Love this place. The only somewhat negative thing I'll say is they don't take reservations, and we had to wait almost a half an hour to get seated.
