Yorkshire tea saved it from getting two stars. But is it 'The Destination' for your culinary needs? I bloody hope not. It was much the same size as our local Carrefour, with not much of a better selection. Yes the stuff maybe of a more 'gourmet' level. Yet it's much the same stuff. The wine... huge disappointment. There really is a better selection at any grocery store. Yes they had a few bottles of great wines, but with the boasting on their website. One would expect aisle upon aisle of choice. Not half an aisle. I'd go back for the niche item. Regular grocery shopping? Not on your nelly!

Wow! Truly a gourmet produce shopping experience that you get to experience here. And yes, it is…read moreabsolutely a hit to the wallet too, so be prepared. If you are from the US, think Whole Foods, but way more upmarket - almost maybe a better comparison would be Dean & DeLuca, cause similar to them, a lot of the food and drink here is curated as well. Case in point, the guys at the grocery store knew so much about produce I had never even seen before - a yellow dragonfruit! Crickets - chocolate covered and plain and in a dip! Chinese rhubarb! Citron Caviar!! BTW, that last one was a product of USA and I didn't even know that the US was a producer of this food item, let alone what the thing was! I was really super lucky that another Yelper, Hubert E. was accompanying us on our voyage of discovery around Rob's as he knew where the best stuff was kept, and since he is a local, was really helpful in explaining some food items that mum and I could not figure out what they were. Best of all, we ended up going on a day that a whole number of producers were showcasing their goods and so I tasted beautiful salmon (I don't know how I can ever buy Salmon from anywhere else again) to 4 different kinds of bee pollen, exquisite black truffle biscuits and amazing wine from the south of France. Yeah, totally can't wait to go back - next on my list, beside shopping of course, is to go eat at their restaurant upstairs!

This was the first food place that we literally stumbled upon. (Yes it was before 5pm, but we are enlist ok?:)) She decided upon a cheese & pear pastry that was shown in the window. If you've ever had the misfortune of seeing your little sister have a culinary orgasm, then you're brave enough to enter this store. The pastries are sooo good! The sweet cheese with rum soaked raisins... it's pornographic! Did I say I love this place? It's porn for your tastebuds. But the kind of porn that your willing to share with your loved ones. Bad metaphor? It's the one that fits!!

Even if you're not a connoisseur, you will be able to taste the difference between the cheese they sell at La Cremerie and whatever garbage you bought at Carrefour. The people working there are very nice and helpful, even if my cheese-related interrogative phrases in French are limited to, "How is this one?" and, "Is this strong or mild?" It's often a matter of trial and error to figure out which ones I'll like, but that's part of the fun. So far, my top go-to cheese is the fresh goat cheese stuffed with fig that they keep in the front window. Highly recommended!
