Steak. I went to this restaurant 2 nights in a row and ordered filet of beef. 1st night: I ordered it "medium"(it came perfectly medium rare, the outside was glazed meaning crisp and the sugars had started to burn creating wonderful flavor barely cooked in the middle but still warm. This is how I like my steak. 2nd night: it came to me cooked medium, a very little bit of pink without any glazing on the outside and the cooked part was grey colored, which is usually what I have gotten here in France when I order medium rare. At another restaurant it was 1/2 inch thick brown on the outside, grey inside and cold...So, I still don't know how to order steak in France to get what I want, but the first night, the steak was of good quality (better than any other I have gotten in France) and cooked perfect for me. The second night still better than any other restaurant, although the quality wasn't as good and it wasn't cooked to my liking. The crabcakes are OK. Deserts are OK. The service was very good. The fireplace is wonderful. I could hear the owner/host arguing with the staff...I am a Texan granddaughter of rancher who likes grass fed, dry aged beef cooked medium rare. I don't think they know what aging beef means in France, even though they are gastronomique! Best of luck getting it cooked how you want. The beef was fresh and hadn't been sitting in a freezer for months/years. The vegetables were good - a bit overcooked to my liking, but not mush, which is the usual for French restaurants. Overall, yes I would go back and try to be specific as to how I like my steak. The waiter seems more knowledgable about food than the owner/hostess. read more
