It is in my top 3 amongst all the restaurant I have been able to eat at during these last 10 years! The restaurant is typically decorated (with wood everywhere like in the houses of the region) and the waitors are very sympathetical and funny in every circumstances. We ordered starters and main courses for some and main courses and desserts for others and everything was really tasty and typical. Considering the quality of the food, we didn't have to wait too long and we even had a nice little after-dinner liqueur made up with mint. The value for money is good, comparing to other restaurants where you could have basic French fries and a steak for 20€. You should definetely go there, especially if you stay in "La Daille" borough of Val d'Isère!

He had two children behind the counter with him making pizzas when we first walked in and you could tell that the experience of hand making pizzas was something very special to them. They later took the pizzas to their parents' table to enjoy the fruits of their experience. The place is small so we had to wait, but one of the waitresses was quick to offer us drink options while we waited. We were able to enjoy some wine during our 10 minute wait. The food prices are very reasonable and the quality is top notch! We had the caprese appetizer, the pizza + and the spaghetti bolognese. It was all very delicious. We are so happy we came here during our trip because it felt like a local's experience and not one of those commercial places.

It makes the interior feel even more cosy and warm. The menu is filled with the classic meat and cheese choices you would expect from that kind of place but they do it very well and with a light modern twist. In fact the fillet de boeuf I had was the best I have had this year... so far ;) It was incredibly tasty and cooked to perfection: it just melted in my mouth. And the wine list is filled with good vintages.

During winter it can only be reached by ski but during summer you can drive up to the Col de la Madeleine. The restaurant is nestled on top of the mountain with an amazing view which also includes the Mont Blanc. The food is great with good servings at a reasonable price. The staff is so friendly (typical mountain people kind of friendliness) and it's just such a nice place for lunch. And of course I recommend the Tartiflette and blueberry tart which are a must have in the region. If you feel like having something lighter, their salads are great as well. I had a chicken kabob and my wife had a vegetable/salad plate. Each a glass of wine. Food was good, not amazing, but the ambiance is what made the experience exceptional. Even inside, they cook some of the food over an open fire. Love the wood. We made a reservation to insure a spot and needed directions. I asked at a nearby chalet and it turns out the owner of that chalet was the husband of the owner of La Soucoupe, he said, "its my wife". And she was; charming and came around to check on us. The friendly attentive owners had one main question: Menu du jour or something else? We had the menu and enjoyed a nice salad as a starter, a filling tasteful main with the local Diots (typical Savoie meaty pork sausages) in a gravy with crozets (which are a kind of small-sized pasta) and a small fruit salad as dessert. €13,- was charged per person :-) for this local feast.
