The food and ambiance is good, just like how I remembered and it seemed time stood still as it was just as I hd recalled the location. This is my wife's first time and it did not disappoint. Coming from the states the service should not be compared so I will not do so here or anywhere else. I would definitely make this a spot to visit if you are visiting Toulouse.

Located on a narrow side street in Toulouse's old town, only a removable sign indicated that  there is a restaurant in the back, no street front. You walk under an arch into a backyard of sorts. There is a sundeck with comfortable chairs attached to what appears to be the living space of a family. You are instructed to go to the basement. It's hard not to be at awe as you enter the cave. The soft glow by indirect lighting gives the space a soothing, or romantic feel, depending on your current mood. We decided to try the local dishes; the Lapin and the Cassoulet. Foie gras and Roasted Veal Salad. Brownies with licorice sauce with pistachio ice cream, and something called Paris brest with chocolate and praline ganache, strawberry and popcorn. A bottle Chateau Plaisance wine, from the Bordeaux area, complemented our meal well. All were exceptionally good. But it is the service that brings it all together. Even with the language barrier (our lack of French and their limited English) they managed to make us feel comfortable and well served. It wasn't until we were leaving that I found the owner spoke another language that we could have communicated with.  While traveling, I like to experience as many places as possible, but Les Caves de La Marechale is a place I can see myself going back, again and again.

They offer special priced menu's for lunch and dinner but we ended up ordering entree's and sharing dessert. Start off with a kir for apertif (I had mine with blackberry currant). The wine list is really good,we really loved our white wine. I got the beef steak and frites which was cooked to perfection and came with a salad on a huge cutting board. Our dessert was nearly the size of the entree's and was very filling ( a chocolate monstrosity *delicious). Everything that came out of the kitchen looked really good and nicely presented. While not the most affordable restaurant the set menu's for lunch are no more than 15 euros and the dinner one is 34 euros.
