Last meal in Paris. Le Guersant was walking distance from our hotel and we began to walk over as it began to rain. Upon arrival, there were no indoor seatings without a reservation. We agreed to sit in the cold since they had a cover.
Service was on the slow side with giving us the menu, taking our order, and bringing out our food. We had to wake up for an early flight the next day so this meal really took away from our sleep.
My boyfriend ordered their Formule (22€) with the Salade de Lentilles Tiedes Saumon Fume et Ouef Mollet and the Poulet Fermier et Son Jus, Frites Maison. I was intrigued by the specials they brought around on their chalk board and decided to get the Confit de Canard, Pommes Sautees (20€).
As with most French bistros, they brought us complimentary bread to go with our meal.
Then of course people came and sat right next to us even though there were plenty of tables, and the two ladies decides to chain smoke back to back with no relief. I started coughing so I asked our waiter if we can move spots. They moved us to another table that was on the edge of rain. Rain is better than smoke. Thankfully later on bar seating became available and they invited us inside. I'll give the restaurant props for trying to make it right.
Anyways back to the food... my boyfriend's Lentilles Tiedes Saumon Fume et Ouef Mollet came out first. This is lentils with smoked salmon and a poached egg. Beautiful presentation, great in theory... bland in execution. Worst of all my poor boyfriend removed a longggg strand of blonde hair from his food. I'm not blonde so it definitely wasn't me. Bleh.
As for the meals, the Poulet Fermier had a really dry and rubbery chicken. My Confit de Canard was a bit over fried and tough too. The best thing on my plate were the potatoes.
At the end I ordered an Tiramisu to help with their revenue since they accommodated us and let us move inside, but we were waited forever just for them to tell us they don't have any Tiramisu. The irony is that staff was the one who recommended it to me when I originally wanted something else. By the time they told us it was not available it was so late we really had to get going. read more
