Le Jardin du Lavis is the absolute definition of hole in the wall. On a glitzy stretch of sunny patios and upscale restaurants, it is down an alley and truly difficult to find, even with the assistance of Google Maps. But it is worth finding. Sichuan food wasn't our innate draw to Nice, but it was so good that we ate there multiple times during our short visit. Standards like garlicky cabbage and stir fry cauliflower were fantastic with addicting spice levels. The preparation accentuated the flavors of the produce on a vegetarian friendly menu. I was happy that vegetables weren't relegated to the "sides" area of it. They were just as well done as their meat counterparts. I'd only say that the quality was a bit uneven over multiple visits and that prep time was long, especially for a noodle soup my partner ordered that arrived half an hour later than everything else. The servers were exceedingly friendly, but the space itself wasn't very nice. A deep clean would bring it to the next level. But ultimately, the food was excellent and i would recommend that anyone hunt for the back alley that symbolizes the restaurant's happy differentiation from its surroundings. read more
