There are a few locations of Terres de Café in Paris of differing sizes and this one in Batignolles has the perfect amount of seating and cozy atmosphere to read a book or meet with friends. On weekdays it's a nice and comfortable place to work on your laptop, provided you have your own hotspot (no WiFi here), and on weekends when computers are not allowed the ambiance is much more familial and lively. The coffee is high-quality and the employees are very knowledgeable about the beans and flavor profiles. I've enjoyed all the drinks I've had here, with my usual being a simple latte. They also sell coffee beans and Nespresso pods to go. The pastry selection is typically limited to banana bread, brownies, and cookies as they are much more focused on the coffee, but I found them to be really good anyway. The staff are friendly and make an effort to get to know their regular customers, and the café is very friendly to families and children especially on weekends. The café is conveniently located in Batignolles near plenty of other shops as well as the Mairie.

Im very picky with cafes so this is a sweet surprise. Of course the coffee is top notch! No sugar needed. I bought a t-shirt while here. Everyone is easy and nice.

It was a rainy day, and we were struggling with our umbrellas (mine flipped outwards with the strong winds), and one of the baristas opened the door for us and let us get ourselves together. We were offered menus, which were in English and French, and ordered at the counter when ready. I've been coming down with a cold, so I ordered Golden milk and avocado toast. The meal was very healthy, it came with quinoa salad and carrot slaw. Light, but a good little bit of protein for the vegetarian option. The Golden milk was very nice, the turmeric and ginger balanced out nicely, so it wasn't overwhelming. It helped me feel a little better and is a great way to warm up. They have a combo meal deal- drink, lunch plate, and dessert, but Golden milk isn't included with this option. My friend split her pistachio cake with me and it was delicious! I love pistachio anything- so it was a nice treat. It's a small and cozy little cafe and a nice place to take a break after touring the Palace.

The coffees being served are quite nice and I'd recommend taking home a bag since it's about ten euros for 250gm for their espresso blend. It's a little expensive for a cafe latte or flat white with milk. The microfoam could be better.

The culture and history are amazing (which are givens) but what will totally knock you off your feet is the food. People will tell you that but it will still shock you when you put a pastry or a bite of a galette (of the sort from the Brittany region) in your mouth. Okay, all of that is to say that while there are great things to experience in Paris, you will find that service is not exactly what one would call friendly or hospitable. I get it, I'm an American and Yanks are entitled and pompous. I totally understand that and I know that no matter how much I jump up and down, shouting to you that I'm not that way (especially since I'm the child of immigrant parents of an extremely humble background), you will remain skeptical. That's okay. I have come to understand that Parisians are not what we here in the States would consider exactly "warm." But I accept the cultural difference and am more than happy when I can have a cordial exchange with business owners/managers and their employees. I don't speak French, but I learned the obligatory "Parlez-vous anglais?" in deference to the country's official language. I heard the cashier speak English to the customer in front of me but when it was my turn, both she and the manager on shift looked at me blankly so I politely (and timidly) asked my question. The man acted indifferently and said flatly, "A little." So I ordered my cappuccino, feeling embarrassed. I paid and left. I understand that Parisians are tired of Americans and their expectation that everyone speaks English (I have witnessed this and know it to be generally true) but when your customer tries to communicate with you and your place of business is in an international airport (8th busiest in the world in passenger traffic, at that), you would think you could be a bit more understanding. I won't change the world or this place with my review, but there you have my two cents. Oh, and the cappuccino was quite good.

Inside, you're greeted by a display of handmade pastries and cakes. The space is intimate, with tables fairly close together, and the staff spoke English, which made navigating the menu easy. Our order came out quickly and we wasted no time digging in. My wife and I each ordered a drink and cake combination. If you get the hot chocolate, go with the Grand-Mère. It's noticeably sweeter and richer than the Dame Cakes blend, which even with a couple of sugar cubes added still fell a bit flat. My dessert was excellent. My wife's cake was decent, though her tea was disappointing and largely went undrunk. It's a fun and charming experience, but the menu is a bit hit or miss. Worth doing a little research ahead of time, and don't hesitate to ask the staff for recommendations based on how sweet or rich you like your desserts.
