This was a suggestion from a friend that lives in the area, so naturally we stopped there during…read moreour trip. It was a Tuesday evening. The place was VERY busy and it is usually full. Luckily for us, they manage to find a four-seated table. The good: Service was number one. Waitress did not speak English and she really felt bad about it. She also felt bad that our orders were taking time to arrive (trust me, they were not. The delay was a normal one). Everyone was very satisfied with their meals (mac and cheese, shrimps brochette, meatball plate, pork chop). My father in-law said this is " the best pork chop he ever had " (and he had quite a few). Decor is magnificent. The bad: They were out of Rickard's Red beer. During the night, l experienced very tough stomach and intestinal pain (which might confirms that my meatballs were indeed not that fresh, made a day or two in advance?) but l was not sick, just awake for the night. Mac and cheese reheated was not good. We tried to make a reservation for a few days later but once again, it was full. This place is EXTREMELY popular. There is a good chance that you might not eat there if you just show up. This was our favourite restaurant throughout our trip. Worth the stop. You just have to plan it and reserve.

We had lunch in here twice (never dinner) and the service was quite good. Smoked meat of course is the specialty of the house and I would recommend it. The lunch portion is a reasonable portion of (slightly spongy) rye bread with yellow mustard and fries. It's a good amount. For dessert, I really recommend what they call "unemployed man's pudding" (in French Pudding Chomeur) which is actually just a maple syrup cake. A small portion of this sweet stuff is all you need to finish off your meal. They do have tons of other things for lunch - the smoked salmon salad looked good, as did the rotisserie chicken. It's all Pepsi here. No Coke.

Restaurant Terrasse Le Vieux Club House - Ceviche de st. Laurent! Fresh scallops!

As a special treat to celebrate my daughter's birthday, we ended up enjoying a astronomy…read morepresentation at the Observatoire Astronomique de Charlevoix located in the same building as this restaurant. Then came dinner, which was phenomenal. I started with the Ceviche du St-Laurent, which was made with such fresh scallops, sprinkled with finely diced pepper medley, olive oil, and balsamic vinaigrette. The dish was perfectly salted and peppered to bring out the precise fresh quality of the scallops. My husband enjoyed the spinach salad (Salde d'epinards et effiloche de canard roti au miel, vinaigrette au yogourt). He LOVED it! Dinner, for me, was the Grilled halibut steak, tagliatelle pasta with coriander oil and vegetables (Pave de fletan grille, tagliatelles a l'huile de coriander et legumes du marche). Halibut was cooked perfectly on the outside with some raw-ness in the middle, which was just right! My husband had the grilled pork chop, apple and sortilege liquor chutney, french fries, and vegetables (cote de port grillee, chutney aux pommel et sortilege, pommel de terre frites et legumes du marche). Pork was not overcooked at all! Fries were so, so, so good! High quality meal, divine atmosphere, and intimate fine dining experience!! My daughter enjoyed her chicken fingers and french fries. She does not even like french fries, but she said that it was the best french fries she ever had! She NEVER liked french fries...but today she thought it was so good! Also had the chocolate cake for dessert, and it was absolutely phenomenal! They have a Thursday night sushi happy hour special, so we plan on checking it out! You cannot beat the service, the car service from Le Manoir Richelieu, and the beautiful views of the St. Laurent River at night! Breathtakingly gorgeous!
