While in Paris, my husband and I were looking for a good place for couscous, and this restaurant ended up being perfect! The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant, our waiter was very friendly and professional. We started with vegetable Briouats, small crisp triangles, yummy. The couscous was the star of the evening, one of the best I've ever had (the Prince for my husband, merguez for me). The portions were very generous and we were wondering if we should have shared one. Still, I couldn't resist the Pastilla for dessert, light layers of phillo, amazing. On our recent trip to Paris, we knew we wanted to try Moroccan food. After searching high and low, we decided on Le Mechoui du Prince and are so glad we did. They have a very extensive menu, complete with Moroccan wine options. They are vegetarian-friendly and are happy to help you understand the menu. The service was outstanding and we LOVED the food! We saw many local families eating here, which told me that we chose the right place. This was an excellent restaurant. We loved everything we ordered. The eggplant appetizer was delicious with a hint of spice I would like to know what because it was good. The grilled lamb chops was well seasoned and also very good. The lamb tagine was so good. The vegetarian couscous was excellent with white raisins they poached in some mixture - it was not so sweet. Beautiful. Delicious Moroccan food. Lots of flavor- rich, succulent, spice, and slow-cooked. Complemented with couscous. And wine. You know, because Paris. Portions are very generous too, so I imagine it would be easy to over-order and have a lot leftover. The Prince's Mechoui is a perfectly roasted lamb shoulder that falls off the bone. Also, the Casablanca chicken is also amazing. I heard the restaurants that are really close to the tourist traps like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral are mainly popular among unknowing tourists, so you have to dig a bit deeper or do more research to find worthy places (if you're really looking for good food). This place was AMAZING!!!!!! We got the lamb chop platter and the braised lamb tegine (the one with olives and not with dates). The lamb sausage on the lamb chop platter was amazing. There was Casablanca beer as well. The service was great and the decor in the restaurant was beautiful. By far one of the best meals I had in Paris. I visited this restaurant as an American tourist. Not only was the food amazing, but the service was exceptional. I ordered a Ouarzazate Tajine and my partner ordered a Kefta couscous. The lamb was delicious and melted off the bone -- portions were very generous too. Our waiter was very attentive, and when he saw that I didn't understand French, took the time to speak English and explained each dish to us. He was very hospitable. The ambiance is very nice as well -- authentic with lots of beautiful decor to look at and comfortable seats. Definitely recommend this place if you are looking to try Moroccan food and a big thank you to our waiter who made it an awesome dining experience! read more

Very nice restaurant close to Luxembourg garden I have tried several Moroccan restaurant before but this one is one of the best I have ever tried with their delicious speciality (Méchoui Lamb which is a Barbecued lamb) for 23€. Pretty good restaurant in my opinion. After a long day of museums and waking, we found this Moroccan restaurant near the Notre Dame Cathedral and after our visit to Saint-Chapelle Cathedral. This had generally positive reviews on Yelp which is why we decided to come here. The place opened for dinner at 7 PM (1900) so we arrived around then and were the first customers actually. We were seated and then given the menu. The place was running a 30% off special on an appetizer (entree) and a meal (plat). I ordered the couscous with kofta (beef kabob). It came with a variety of accompaniments such as couscous, lentil soup, chickpeas, raisins and spicy chili paste. I'd say the quality of food was good, as was the quantity. However the prices are steep. Expect to pay €18-25 per dish. Great service and overall cleanliness. Would definitely recommend to a friend. read more

We accidentally came in here on a Saturday night whilst looking for the restaurant next door (duh! Should have kept on walking a few more steps...stupid hunger stopping us in our tracks!) It was probably around 9.30pm and the restaurant was super busy with what seemed to be lots of local families and friends. Despite this, they managed to seat our party of 6 with no wait, which was great! The wait staff were amazing! So friendly and funny! The food we ordered was awesome. We shared some 'bricks' for starters (I have no idea what the English/French translation is for this, but I think it got lost a little bit - they were essentially a type of Moroccan pakoras I would guess...) - the hot sauce they provide is so good! It packs such a hit! For my main I ordered the tagine Casablanca. The chicken was so good and fell off the bone. It was cooked with nuts and grapes and was really delicious. It didn't come with any additional vegetables or cous cous etc so I think it was a bit pricey for the size of the meal, but despite that I was still happy with what I received. One of my dining companions ordered the couscous and it was a MASSIVE portion in comparison - cooked meats, a big bowl of couscous and a huge jug of cooked vegetables. I kinda wish I'd gone for that option, but I most definitely would have ended up in a complete food coma if I had! I noticed people sharing these around the restaurant so that would probably be the best idea. The wine list here wasn't great, although we did order a French wine - maybe we should have stuck with the Moroccan! I really enjoyed this place. The staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere was totally unlike what you usually encounter in Paris. The food was quite good. The bastilla really stood out - crispy, with balance flavor. If we hadn't already ordered tagines and couscous I might have ordered another one. I wish they made it with pigeon instead of chicken, but oh well. My mom ordered chicken couscous and my dad and I ordered tagines (kefta, and chicken with raisins and onions, respectively), so they served the couscous first, as a separate course. Everything was wonderfully flavorful, and pretty much on par with a lot of the restaurants I visited in Morocco. The tagines were also quite flavorful - I thought the kefta were a tad dry, but the chicken was outstanding. I finished up with the "the gourmand," which includes mint tea and an assortment of pastries and orange slices with cinnamon. The waiter went ahead and brought tea for my parents, too. Classic couscous in a nice, traditionally decorated Moroccan restaurant. Started with a creamy eggplant and lemon dip that was nice. The mixed meat ciuscius featured a lamb skewer, and slow cooked beef,pork and chicken. The pit of broth had huge and tasty chunks of various, squash and other veggies. All full of flavor and perfectly cooked! And you'll have plenty to eat...really could be for two. My wife's dishes was a preserved lemon and chicken dish that seemed quite popular with the regulars. She ate more than she usually does! Decent wine list..we had the half bottle of red Bordeaux that went well with the other flavors. The area around the University used to be full of these type places many tweezers ago. It was nice to find one that remains. read more

Overall this was a pretty nice break in our feast Parisienne of bread, cured meats, and cheese. We came here as a group of 11, called ahead for reservation and got one just fine with 4-5 days head notice. Some of the waiters do speak English, but not all. Menu are a la carte, and suggested as individual servings, but what we found that you can get pretty full with sharing 3 entrees for every 4 people. Food was amazing especially any dish that had golden raisins in them. I really love the mixture of savory and sweet spices in these dishes, it is very delicious when all you had for the last few days has been rich French food. read more

Le Mechoui du Prince is a beautiful place where people know how to welcome you with a sincere smile. Service is not always professional but remains effective. Food may be not as genuine as I would expect but still it is very tasty and portions are enormous! It's impossible to finish your couscous. We had mechouia, a small salad with red pepper. Nice and light. But then they brought the couscous plate! The couscous itself is served in a very big jar. Then, depending on the couscous you chose, you'll get a mountain of vegetables (zucchini, tomatoes, carrots) and also on the side they'll bring to you chickpeas, harissa sauce and raisins. There is a big choice between combinations of chicken, lamb and mergez (spicy sausages). We really appreciated this meal but the portions are so big, you'd better go for the couscous, or Tajine, right away. It's a little sad that you have to pay for each cup of tea. That's not the way it goes in Morocco but we are in Paris. read more

My Parisian family made a rezi here for last night's dinner. As a non-drinking, vegetarian, eating in Paris can be difficult. Restaurants usually frown upon me for not ordering alcohol and then when I add that I only want veggies...I'm not too popular. I knew that couscous was a safe bet, so they were happy to bring me here. It's a pretty big restaurant and when we arrived at 8pm it was quiet but when we left at 10, it was full. I think reservations are a good idea. I did order vegetable couscous. They bring a giant pot of couscous to the table and everyone shares that and then you top it with which ever thing you ordered. The vegetables were mostly carrots. There were only a few pieces of zucchini. All in all, it was pretty bland. There were some spicy sauces that you could add but they had a bit too much garlic in them for me. We also had the mint tea which was super sweet. I would definitely come back here as a safe choice for vegetarians. My Parisian family thought it was just okay. The service was fast and professional. The spoke English. read more

Our only negative encounter in Paris was with a waiter here. He was hostile from the start, and when I told him that we didn't speak French he didn't bother to give us the English menus, which were sitting about five feet away. Another waiter did. They say they offer a gluten-free option for couscous, but the cranky waiter acted like we were being unreasonable for even asking about it.
