Once inside, the display was impressive, with pastries, macarons, cakes, sandwiches, and breads that all looked tempting. Even though we were already full, we couldn't resist ordering a coffee, a lemon tart, and taking home some macarons. The coffee was good, and the lemon tart was enjoyable. One thing to note is that terrace seating costs more than takeaway, so keep that in mind if you plan to sit outside. Overall, it's a nice stop if you're exploring Le Marais. The location is fantastic, the neighborhood is lively, and it's a great place to take a break and people-watch. Like many places in Le Marais, prices are a bit higher, but you're also paying for the location and atmosphere. I always felt safe walking around the area, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I'd probably stop by again if I were in the neighborhood, but next time I'd try some of the bakery's specialties, especially the croissants, sandwiches, or quiche, which seem to get the best reviews.

There was a line at the door, but it moved fairly quickly. Once inside, you're in a beautiful Beaux-Arts salon. Service generally is very good. The Chocolat Chaud is superb. There are other savories and sweets on the menu here. This time we tried a Mont-Blanc (3/5). I know this is Angelina's signature pastry, but to me it couldn't compete with the Chocolat Chaud.

Angelina, Paris, France -- April 12…read more Our family of four with kids ages 9 and 10 stopped here for lunch after visiting the Louvre, drawn in by its reputation for having the best hot chocolate in the world. We were looking for a place to relax and refuel, and the experience felt a bit mixed overall. Arrival and First Impressions The space is elegant with classic Parisian charm. The line moved quickly, and we were seated with a great view of the dining room. It felt refined but still comfortable. The Highlights The famous hot chocolate lived up to expectations, thick, rich, and almost more like a dessert than a drink. We also had French onion soup and an éclair, both of which were very good. The pastries were clearly well made and thoughtfully prepared. The kids had chicken tenders, which they enjoyed, even though the tomato sauce was a bit different from what they expected. The Challenges The biggest drawback was the price. The meal felt expensive for what we ordered, coming in at €154 for a fairly simple lunch. Service felt slightly rushed as they moved tables along quickly. Final Thoughts We would likely return if we were nearby and specifically craving the hot chocolate again. It is a classic Paris stop and worth trying once, but the value may not justify going out of your way unless that signature experience is high on your list.

Inside, you're greeted by a display of handmade pastries and cakes. The space is intimate, with tables fairly close together, and the staff spoke English, which made navigating the menu easy. Our order came out quickly and we wasted no time digging in. My wife and I each ordered a drink and cake combination. If you get the hot chocolate, go with the Grand-Mère. It's noticeably sweeter and richer than the Dame Cakes blend, which even with a couple of sugar cubes added still fell a bit flat. My dessert was excellent. My wife's cake was decent, though her tea was disappointing and largely went undrunk. It's a fun and charming experience, but the menu is a bit hit or miss. Worth doing a little research ahead of time, and don't hesitate to ask the staff for recommendations based on how sweet or rich you like your desserts.

It's cozy, with very pretty floral decor. If you come after 12, they serve a small lunch menu. I was there early so I had a pot of tea and cake - a raspberry something or other. The cake was really good - dense but not dry and not too sweet. Perfect with tea. Service was fine, and the prices are fair.
