    Beef Bourguignon with potatoes

3.5 stars for a solid meal. Came with a reservation and service was friendly and timely. 1. French Onion soup - More cheese than usual for France but delicious still. 2. Escargot - Came in the shell with bread which was delicious 3. Beef Bourguignon with potatoes - Hearty meal and loads of flavor Overall, I would try this restaurant at least once for a good French meal

Cozy restaurant while visiting Chamonix. While everything was delicious, I particularly loved the escargot. They serve them in their shells and give you small metal tongs and special forks to remove the escargot - it was both very fun and well presented.

We had high hopes for Le Monchu. **We had a much better meal, wonderful service & great ambiance at La Caleche the night before. 5:30 reservation and were told we'd have to be out by 7pm. 6:00 got our appetizers & bottle of wine and then were ignored for an hour! After finishing our appetizers, a bus boy came a took all our silverware and bread plates. We assumed they'd bring fresh silverware with entree. Nope! The guy who took our order (manager?) as well as all the rest of the staff walked past our table for an hour and not one person checked in with us. We finally flagged down "Julie" who apologized and got our dinner to us at 7:15. 8pm: She brought us thimble sized "complimentary" limoncello liqueur as an apology with the dessert course. It wasn't until later when I looked back at the check that I saw we were charged for them! We still left them a tip despite the extremely neglectful service. Aside from the delicious onion soup, the food was mediocre at best. Fun fact: we were seated near the bus station where they combine leftover bread from other tables to bring out for customers. The birds are feasting on the bread before it's taken to tables. See pic. Patio was nice.

Amazing cozy atmosphere. We ate here after all small hike. The next day after a much longer hike, over 8 miles, we spent the last two hours of the hike daydreaming of another night of fun eating at this wonderful restaurant. The first night, we had the Raclette. Essentially melted cheese with cold cuts and potatoes. It is wonderful and one order is certainly enough for two people. The onion soup is outstanding. The signature drinks are outstanding. My wife thoroughly enjoyed, quite appropriately ;) (jk) the pornstar martini. If you don't have reservations, I recommend coming very early. There are seating options for walk-ins. We were here at the end of shoulder season, cold, and rainy, so the outdoor option was not available to us. I saw many other beef options on the table that I wanted to explore, but our trip timing would not allow for any more visits. We would like to do a deeper dive into the menu the next time in summer of 2025 .

Pork chop was excellent. Carbonara was also very good but there were several small bone fragments mixed in with the ham pieces. Service was excellent. The best thing was French onion soup! We sat in their spacious outside area. This is in a great location near shops, restaurants and hotels.

We ordered the Pâte sampler and the Escargot for appetizers. Excellent!

We arrived at 6:30 and were seated on a first-come-first-served basis, which opens at 6:30 in the evenings - this is your only option if you don't have a reservation. And it gets full fast! We ordered a variety of food and everything was exceptional. The ambiance is old-world charm, decorated with farm-type tools and accessories. It gets very crowded every night so it can get quite noisy. We were all very happy with our experience here and will definitely go again when we're in Chamonix... only next time we'll be sure to make a reservation! :)

    Outdoors on a Saturday night.

Slow service, but friendly and the food is good. There's a consistent line, so it must mean something.

This restaurant is an overpriced scam that serves bad food to unknowing tourists. Service was somehow just as bad as the food.

We sat outside. The tables outside are arranged very, very close together, so if you want space this may not be your place. Also, make a reservation. It gets busy. I would absolutely recommend eating here if you staying in the Chamonix city center and you are looking for a French cuisine with all the traditional favorites. The price is good too! Each individual entree is about 25 euros, house wine is 9euro a glass. The multi course dining prefix is around 35 euros. Fine food for an affordable dining price. This was an excellent dining discovery for us after a long day hiking in the mountains.

We started off with two appetizers, the marinated salmon and onion soup, both of which were generously portioned and delicious. The salmon has that classic smoked salmon flavor although it's not, and the onion soup had enough cheese in it to satisfy any cheese aficionado. We then proceeded to order the 3-course dinner for only 29 euros each. The escargot were cooked perfectly, and I loved sopping up the leftover butter sauce with the provided crusty bread. Both of us also ordered the grilled lamb chops with herbs which were flavorful and tender. As an unexpected bonus, this dish also came with a small salad and crispy french fries. Lastly, we completed the meal with a huge creme brulee and caramel tarte tartin. Although the desserts tasted amazing, we were stuffed by this point and sadly unable to finish them. Talk about an amazing way to cap off our TMB hike though. Would definitely recommend this place to celebrate or start off any trip with a bang!

Here are a few few things we noticed: - When I made the reservation, I had seen a picture in Yelp that made it look like the outdoor seating was in a front patio but beware because that is the patio of another restaurant and the entrance to Atmosphere is next to it. While it was comfortable inside, specify the outdoor Terrace if at all possible because that is along the river and is very beautiful. - My wife ordered from one of the two fixed price menus, but I decided to order à la carte, which is definitely more expensive. - My wife started with the Alpine salad, which was very delicious. I got the French onion soup, which is supposedly one of their specialties, but I just found it average. - For a main courses, I got the beef tenderloin with seared fois gras... it was amazingly! My wife got the hotbox cheese and liked it well enough. - For her, the highlight of the meal was probably the blueberry tartlet. I got a trio of sorbets which were also very fresh and good. - Service was very very good. And the atmosphere is cozy and warm inside. Bottom line: Dining at Atmosphere was a great way to start our vacation!
