Fantastic local gem somewhere in the South of France ... I'm not kidding, I had no idea what the name of this town was... But seriously, I looked it up on the map and it's called Trans-en-Provence...
We had a group of eight and we are glad that they let us come in because it was raining and we just needed a place to eat. Apparently when it rains many restaurants in these small towns will shut down as there are no customers. Thank goodness they stayed open to accommodate us. Let me say that this was a fantastic dining experience. I think everyone who was there enjoyed all the food and the great wine and delightful service from the proprietess. My wife and I went for the menu du jour, of a composed salad and iberico pork slab
The hit of the composed salad was this pickled watermelon, that felt almost like jicama in terms of firmness, but with the sweetness of watermelon it was fantastic paired with the jambon. Next came the iberico pork slab and I really do mean it was a slab, with this tangy brown sauce. That was just amazing. Served with a side of delicious frittes, this was a really, really good lunch. Good wine, good food and good company. read more
