During the many years I have visited South Pigalle in Paris, I have never experienced overt racism from any shop owners or employees. But today was certainly a painful reminder that when some people get angry, they will misdirect it, sometimes uncontrollably. The woman who was working today (Thurs 10/9/14 around 5pm), possibly the owner, displayed so much rudeness and vitriol, that I was compelled to write this review. As an American of Asian descent, I had entered the bakery with other non-American Asians that I was not with. Nevermind the fact that I didn't even take a picture or was with those other patrons. What she exhibited was unprofessionalism at best, and racism and illegal business practices at worst. It was obvious to me that it was actually both. Again, this was a first for me. Whether their pastries and tarts are good or not, I'll never know. Nor do I care to know at this point. Shame on this woman. If she is the owner, even more so. Still, there is much to love about SoPi. But this bakery is not one of them. read more
