The first time I arrived, one of the waiters, Carlos, took me under his wing, showed me the ropes, reserved a table for me and just made me feel like I'd arrived at a friend's house for dinner. I returned several times in the two weeks I stayed in São Paulo and also met Joe, one of the owner/managers. Joe encouraged me to try their paninis. Normally, I steer clear of pizza-like foods in foreign countries... I mean, I love my NYC thin crust and am almost always disappointed in what I find elsewhere. Not so at Boston Bakery. Their crust is thin, crunchy, not soggy at all! In short, unexpectedly amazing and all the ingredient inside are fresh and in creative, tasty combinations. Boston Bakery is a combo buffet, sit down restaurant, diner, deli, chocolate shop and corner store. A great place to run and grab something or stay and linger. [ENG] Okay, it had been a really long time since I ate a burger in SP and reacted like: omg! That's what happened. I took a long time to visit Z Deli because people always said the space was too small and always crowded. Besides that, there ir no air conditioning, which can be pretty annoying in SP's summer. That's why the restaurant doesn't get a 5-star rating. But going back to the delicious part of this review, the burger is truly amaaaaazing! I ordered one called Minetta which has cheddar cheese and caramelized onion. The meat was exaclty medium well as ordered and bread was slightly crunchy with a little taste of butter. LOVED IT. The pastrami sandwich was little bit dry, wasn't that into it. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of fois gras, so I didn't get the famous foie gras burger. However, all of my friends that tried really really really liked it. The regular fries are great! Crunchy and not at all oily :) the fat fries are good, but they get kinda soaked in the sauce, so I prefered the other ones. There's also the pink lemonade, which I thought was bit sweet since it contains "groselha", a really sweet Brazilian drink. I often go back to Z Deli, but try to go on not so busy hours or just get a take out :)

I initially just thought this was a juice bar which would have been just fine for me, as I love a morning lemon juice (no sugar!), but this place has so much more! It's also got a great selection of salads, some nice egg dishes, some delicious Açai bowls for your daily superfood dose, and even KOMBUCHA! Service is super fast, so it's perfect for a quick lunch. For my entire time in Brazil I visited here every day and brought no less than 20 colleagues here - and if I'm ever back in the neighborhood I know I'll be right back here for a juice, snack, or healthy lunch.

Madureira is like a Rio-inspired healthy version of a diner. I honestly don't know how I haven't…read morereviewed this place yet. It's my go to hunger killer any time of the day. For breakfast enjoy delicious Açai bowls (a must try for all foreign visitors), a little bowl of scrambled eggs with a side of fruit salad or their version of French toast in which an egg is fried to your liking within the hole cutout of a piece of toast and then topped with requeijão, an extra creamy Brazilian creme cheese. Also worth trying is the crazy monkey sandwich made of banana, cinnamon and a special "healthy" cheese (as though cheese could be diet, ha!). Super health nuts will appreciate the mashed bananas with oats and honey. For lunch they have a lot of great sandwiches including a tasty veggie burger. You won't be tempted to get that side of fries, since they don't sell anything fried. They do however sell non greasy empanadas which make a great afternoon snack. My favorite is the carne picante. The juices are not to be missed as part of any meal but especially refreshing at mid day is a chilled coconut cut open on request. Foreigners should note the menu separation of Vitaminas (smoothies), which are quite thick and often include Açai or sorbet, and sucos (juices) which are usually filtered to a quite thin consistency. For dinner the platters are nutritious and filling. I think the baked white fish with salad is the most popular version for the post-gym crowd, but I am also a fan of the sweet potatoes or the veggie burger patties (comes without the bun). Basically this place is a vegetarian, gluten free and gym addict haven. But beware those desserts! I can say from personal experience that tasting that cheesecake should be done at your own personal risk. I think it's on the list of foods that I would request for my last meal. The bolo de banana integral while not as crave-worthy is also pretty good and meets the criteria of desserts that I actually believe are healthy. The only dessert, and actually menu item come to think of it, that I didn't love (after two years of quite devoted patronage) was the recently introduced gluten free cake, unfortunately really dry and flavorless. Beyond selling great value for money healthy food, the service here is super fast, theyre open pretty late, they deliver and they have an English menu (not that I need it anymore but great for visitors). And for extra super duper bonus points Madureira regularly gives away the pão de queijo that gets too hard from sitting in the front case for too long to the local homeless people. How can you not love them!?!?

The music and the harmonies were so smooth, and the energy that the group brought to room was beautiful. It was truly special to hear where everyone was from, as well as to know that two women from the U.S. were part of the group as well, alongside Brazilians. I particularly liked the renditions of Mais Que Nada, and Aguas de Março. Thank you so much for an amazing evening, and congratulations on your first concert in Brazil. I hope there will be many more. The Club was also a perfect room to hear live music.

I had 2 hours to kill, so I brought a book and sat outside in the sun sipping on my coffee. I ordered some scrambled eggs with a side of the lox in virgin olive oil with dill. It was so good, I almost ordered another portion but stopped myself. That would have been a LOT of lox, as the portion size was quite sufficient. My waitress was especially nice. She knew exactly when to let me be- reading to myself- and somehow noticed the moment that I needed something and was at my side asking how she could help . As I was leaving, they were pulling out all of their brunch stuff. It looks like it is an all you can eat buffet of tasty healthy things like light-quiches and fruits and different types of salads. One of these places is Lox Deli. One fine Saturday, I decided to try their breakfast (or brunch) menu and I was not at all disappointed - fresh house-made bagels with cream cheese, fruit salad with granola and great service - this place keeps growing on me..recommend a visit for breakfast/brunch which they serve all day. The highlight of Lox Deli definitely is the in-house bakery they have and its one of the best bagels I gave had in the city. It's relatively empty on Saturday mornings, so you can sit down and have a relaxed & savoury breakfast - the service is attentive, not pushy. I haven't seen big groups in here for breakfast - it's generally couples or single people and they do allow pets on the patio area. The coziness of the place, the attentive service and the great quality definitely make this one of those place to return. The only caveat that Lox Deli has that it is closed on Sundays - come on ! Sunday is world brunch day !!!
