I came home to celebrate my birthday earlier this year and my family got an array of sweets from Le Petit. One of the best birthday cakes ever! They got me the Strawberry and Champagne cake and it was perfect. I have had a few champagne cakes and they were okay but this one was G.R.E.A.T.! They also got some macrons (delightful!) and shortbread cookies (give me more!). I know my Mom has bought more cakes for other special days since and has loved all of them. This is really a gem of a place and I encourage everyone to bring their business there. read more

I'm often leery of little cutsey shops that have adorable packaging, because so often that's ALL the have and lack on the delivery of the product they're presenting so nicely. This is definitely not the case at Le Petit Sweet. I haven't tried a single thing that wasn't absolutely delicious and unique to Mount Dora. Macaron ice cream sandwiches are a must. I was VERY excited to try this place based on the pictures and the reviews....maybe I tried it on an off day, but I was incredibly underwhelmed by not only my experience but also the quality of the desert and coffee. To be fair I only tried a cheese cake bite and an iced coffee. The cheese cake bite tasted more like a cake pop that was a a day or two old and the coffee was meh...not made better by the fact that they only offer pre-packaged international coffee house creamers as add-ins. The selection was far from extensive, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if thats the case then what is offered should be amazing. Add to all this that the two brothers (I assume the owners) behind the counter were less than friendly. Overall this experience left much to be desired...I love to shop local and support small businesses, but I would have been better off going to Starbucks. read more

After seeing so many great pictures on Yelp and social media, this was the place I was most excited to visit while spending a day in Mt. Dora. Sadly, it was not the experience that I was hoping for. After lunch, my friends and I decided to stop by for a sweet treat. There was no one else in the shop when we walked in except for the two gentlemen working behind the counter. We were not greeted came in .It was close to 2pm and to our surprise, there was not much left. Most of the ice cream sandwiches were gone and I believe there were only 2 flavors of cheesecake bites to choose from. There were a variety of macarons available however. To be fair, it may have been our fault because it was a little later and who knows, they may have been busy prior to us coming in. Still a little disappointing nonetheless. I ordered a strawberry cheesecake bite and an iced coffee. After paying, I made my way to their condiment bar and didn't see any cream for my coffee. I asked if they had cream or milk and the gentleman that rang me up said not and directed me to the pre-packaged coffee-mate cups. How do you make specialty coffees, lattes, cappuccinos, etc and not have milk? Moving on to my dessert, it was just okay. I definitely think it looked better than it tasted. Overall, I'm bummed that my experience was not as great as those I've read about. A positive was that it's a really cute shop. Maybe it was an off day. Either way I will not be back. read more

I love supporting small businesses and this dessert shop is the best of the best. An assortment of the day's freshly baked delectable sweets is on display in the cozy, adorable space. It's tempting to order everything (we did!), so I highly recommend the lavendar honey cookies (my new favorite!) and the cream puffs, which have the lightest, fluffiest filling. Wow! Just wow! This place is truly a gem! We are in Orlando for vacation and have been checking out nearby towns. While Mount Dora as a whole is charming, the best thing there was this amazing cafe and bakery. The cream puffs and Chocolate eclairs are amazing, the coffee is done right, and the decor is beautiful. The macaroons, though, are unbelievably mouth watering. My only regret is that I did not buy more macaroons as I have already eaten the ones purchased! Do yourself a favor and if you are in the vicinity (I mean within an hour or two drive), then make sure do not miss this bakery! read more

This new shop opened in September and we are all very lucky it did. They moved from the Miami area. It is located on 5th Avenue, around the corner from the main street with all the shops of Mt Dora. They also serve coffee/expresso and have a few tables They prepare "bite size" desserts (okay maybe 2-3 bites) and they are wonderful. .I had a tiny cream puff shell that had a dulce caramel filling & a lite caramel drizzle. The petite treats are huge on flavor and quality, and the presentation is pure classic joy. We ordered a variety of their cupcakes and French macaroons, for our baby shower. They used dark blue, light blue, and pastel green for our desserts and were ABSOLUTELY delicious. They delivered on time and set up elegantly. The guests ate almost everything, with some left overs. I live near the area and was very excited when I found out about this place since Mt. Dora tends to be a culinary wasteland and there's not really any place to get gourmet sweets at. Tried to go one Friday or Saturday evening and even though they were open till 9 there was a sign that said sold out on the door. I was disappointed but that must mean it's good right? I was able to go again on a weekday afternoon and picked up almost everything they had available. Here's my rundown: Cream puffs were really delicious. Cream was decadent and the puffs were just the right consistency, just light enough and not soggy or chewy. The little mini cheesecakes were quite tasty as well, no complaints there. Bread pudding and pies (apple, black and blueberry, and pecan) were just ok. It wasn't bad, I just didn't find anything special about them and probably wouldn't buy again. The macarons were good and satisfied my craving, however they could be much improved. They were actually a larger size for macarons. I found them to be too heavy and chewy on the inside and not light and crunchy enough on the outside. This was the case for all three flavors they offered that day. I was also disappointed the filling was the same for all flavors. It seemed to be a buttercream frosting filling and since it wasn't flavored like the meringue, the intensity of the flavor of macaron was compromised. Seems like they are taking a shortcut by just using one filling for everything instead of making different fillings for each flavor like every other macaron I have had. Now I may be pickier than most people since I have had many macarons from Laduree and many other patisseries and restaurants in France, but for me, these just don't compare. Even locally Le Macaron in Altamonte and Winter Park has far better ones. Overall, this is a decent bakery and I feel certainly the best in Mt. Dora, but not the best I've ever had. If I don't feel like driving to the Orlando area and want something sweet I would definitely return. It's far better than Publix or the super dry cupcakery nearby. read more
