The service was very friendly and, even though there was a slight language barrier (he spoke "some" English and we spoke "some" French), he was very patient and we had fun with it. The description of pizza sounded refreshing, as I was a bit tired of French cuisine at this point in my trip. I don't think a description of pizza does Le Monge justice, as the restaurant is much nicer than simply pizza, and they have lots of other options to try as well (including traditional French). For dinner I selected a small side salad and the campagna pizza which was delicious! It was larger than a lot of the portions I had seen in France before, and certainly large enough to share between two people. It had several kinds of cheese along with prosciutto. The combination of cheeses makes the pizza quite rich and creamy. My husband had the menu selection (which came with an appetizer of 6 escargot, beef bourguignon, and fruits for dessert). He enjoyed his selection as well. I would definitely stop in Le Monge for a meal and expect friendly servers, quick service and great food.

I got a saffron risotto and it was accompanied with carrots, mushrooms, and beets. We also tried a fish carpaccio that was delicious, so light and flavorful, just melted in your mouth. My friends also got the escargot in a squash sauce. The sauce was pretty good, an interesting take on the popular dish. The waiter was nice, he spoke English and was helpful with translating the menu. But it did take us a long time to get our beverages, and we initially planned to order a second bottle of wine but because he never came back we decided against it and saved ourselves some money.
