A (I guess) 30 year old waiter greeted and seated me in very reasonable English. I asked for a food and drink recommendation and he told me they serve excellent local duck and have excellent Argentinian Malbec. I said that I would try his suggestion. A free small starter was served. Couscous with tuna. Mmm, not great I thought. The main course disappointed too. I asked the table next to me (as I was alone) what they thought of the very same dish they were both eating. They said they ate duck 4 times in this town up to now and this was the best. However they agreed it still wasn't excellent. Free WiFi. After I asked, the waiter said the restaurant had opened recently, and the owner is the chef cook. He also said that they keep the prices the same all year round, where some other restaurants raise the prices during summer. I would say 4 stars but with the location definitely a 5 star restaurant anyway.

A 25 cl jug of Bergerac Rose, a delightful drink on the hot day, cost EUR3.50. Then walked over the two nearby bridges, one over the Dordogne and one, its last, over the Vezere. This is the meeting of the waters and two now flow as the Dordogne. Under the trees, close to the restaurant, there are quite a few tables and here small groups were enjoying a do it yourself meal or just a rest from the hot sun. A tip. Some French restaurants, particularly in tourist areas, are spread across a road. You will usually find that the tables across the road from the main building are for drinks only.

This is an old farm and farmhouse that has been repurposed into a luxe hotel. We stayed here for…read morethree nights on our tour through France and the Dordogne region. The rooms are large and comfortable. We had an expansive view of the farmhouse property and overlooked the pool which was warmed to 84F. The hounds are stunning and we had a stroll around on our first evening. There are only 6 rooms in the farmhouse but we noted there were a couple of lodges away from the main house. Our tour of 5 had the entire place almost to ourselves. We saw a few other diners on the first night. Our meal was prepared by Michelin starred chef Pascal Lombard. The rooms were comfy with nice accouterments. The staff was exceedingly pleasant and accommodating. Laura was wonderful and took care of all our requests. The specials were sold out at this nearly empty restaurant (REALLY?)and they offer nothing for kids.. The food is average, the Fois grass terrine taste like nothing, the burgers were good. We have had great service during our trip in France but in this small town in the middle of nowhere it was absolutely terrible!
