I have walked past a few times and finally decided (with a few fellow yelpers) to go in. And I am so happy that we did.
First off the concept of Le Shotbar (surprise, surprise) is Shots. You can buy individually from a choice of 48 different shots or buy a shakers full (around 10-12 shots worth) from a choice of a further 18. Also available are beers, wines, soft drinks and spirits as well as spirits by the bottle!
Happy hour is from 9pm till 11pm (Wednesday and Thursday all day!) and price are dropped by 30% which is a great bargain!
The walls are chalkboards, there is chalk on each table so feel free to leave a message or drawing. (But not of male reproductive organs-there is a fine of a vodka shot to the barman for this offence!) This leaves you something to do while you wait for the shots to take effect and also creates a dynamic, personal, ever changing decoration themes. What a great idea!
The three negatives that I must draw attention to (and the reason for no five stars) are:
1. Its very, very dark inside. Eventually your eyes will adapt to the low light but when you first enter it can leave you slightly disorienting and you might feel a bit vulnerable.
2. Its very quiet. This is a bit disturbing as when we were there, during the hour and a half, no one entered. I don't know whether this is due to the light story or what but it was a bit disturbing to be alone in a bar for so long. I can imagine if you went in alone or in a pair it might be a bit uncomfortable. So better to go in groups until it gains moe notoriety and fills up.
3. Maybe just because I "know my stuff" this bothered me a bit. The drinks weren't mixed very well. A couple of token shakes and then served. For what we ordered at least a good 6 second vigorous shake was needed...
Nice place to drop by for a quick "warm up" on a night out but not somewhere to linger and read a newspaper.
