The…read moreoysters of the trip were truly the food highlight (perhaps along with petrol pumps that dispensed wine). This great little place just by the harbour was recommended to us by our hosts. They live on the outskirts of the town around 4km away making this a meal we certainly earned after a Mistral infused hike to the centre. The view is the thing that first strikes you with viewing tables that let you people watch over the entire harbour and over an unending Mediterranean Sea. It's handily sheltered from the wind allowing it to blow and blow while you sit almost serenely in the sun. My friends were certainly correct about the friendliness and the quality of service. The English menu (not a surprise in this tourist area) was a nice touch though the specials remained in French. The set menu was quite comprehensive and reasonable though we went for the oysters, foie gras and steak tartare. The oysters were of course fresh and reasonably priced but could do with a little bit of vinegar based dressing. The foie gras was served cold with a deep and simple taste (as it should be). It was served with bread and a small side salad. The steak main is a little much for some though the main was also served with thick chips. It was good with gherkins shredded into it giving it a delicate structure and taste. Overall I felt that here we have a lovely little place with staff that will always help you; perfect for people watching while you have a great meal in this alcove on the coast.
