I won a holiday giveaway to this beautiful plant nursery and boy did I hit the jackpot. Brownswood…read moreNursery is a gem of a place. They are this beautiful oasis of indoor and outdoor plants. I was greeted by their friendly staff who allowed me to tour their HUGE greenhouse that just left me in Aww! I spent time looking at every plant they offered and it was such a relaxing spot. I didn't want to leave and had to talk myself out of making a purchase. I came strictly for planters, but man it was hard to resist. They have a cute little store with unique planters and other planting needs and trinkets. Brownswood is also a landscaping company and can supply you with everything to make your lawn beautiful. Everything about this place is a plant lover's dream and for anyone looking to spruce up their property should definitely check them out. Very reasonable prices, great customer service, and a knowledgeable staff to help you beautify your place indoors and out.

Despite proper sun and watering, withing several weeks one shrub started to turn brown. I brought it to the nursery when 3/4 of the bush was dead. I requested a replacement and was advised that I had over-watered the plant and it had develeped a fungus. I was further advised that they would offer a ONE-TIME REPLACEMENT, AT 50% OF THE COST! This did not sit well with me but I needed another bush, so I reluctantly paid the additional cost and purchased fungal spray to have on hand. Within the next couple of weeks, another shrub as well as the replacement shrub started to turn brown. I administered the fungicide accordingly, but the plants did not respond and died. Upon calling the nursery and advising them of the situation, I was told this time that the shrubs had been UNDER-WATERED and that they only offered a ONE-TIME REPLACEMENT. I have purchased many plants and shrubs over the years from other nurseries as well as at Home Depot, Lowes, and Costco, and have never experienced this deplorable level of customer service. If there is a problem, this nursery expects one to call with any issues so that they can give you the run around and BLAME YOU for the plants failure! I learned that Brownswood Nursery does not stand behind the quality of their merchandise. NEVER AGAIN!!

If I happened to be home on the day the crew showed up, it seemed as if there was usually something that was missed. Recently yard maintenance was done on the day my tenant happened to be home, and it seems as if the work being done was even less than previously thought. The owner was supposed to come on the 5 Mondays in October but missed one. When asked why the work wasn't done, I was told by the owner that he didn't know why the crew failed to show up. He never called back with an explanation and never offered to give me credit for the missed week. Also, on two of those weeks in October, the lawn cutting and edging were not done, and only minimal work was done. Then at the end of October, the owner showed up to trim some bushes. Without contacting me and without even checking with the tenant--who was home--the owner butchered a Sago palm we had had for about 25 years. (The picture of the palm after a couple of weeks of regrowth is attached.) Last of all, I waited for almost a month to speak with the owner. I have emailed, sent text messages, and even tried to call. Although I tried on several occasions, I was unable to leave a message because the owner's mailbox was full. Is this the proper way to run a business? If you care about the money you spend to hire a landscaping company, then find another company that shows it cares about the customer.

The owner of Hernandez Tree Service and Landscaping either used to be called or owns a company…read morenamed LandBoss. Although the company name either changed or the old company was shut down, the owner, Jonathan Hernandez, is not somebody I would want to do business with again. Below is my following review of company, formerly known as, LandBoss: Unless you are interested in a lengthy project that turns out looking like nothing it was promised to look like for the same amount of money, I would suggest using another company, if you can even call LandBoss that. Also, make sure they're qualified with recommendations! I used LandBoss (Jonathan Hernandez, the owner of LandBoss) to replace my fence, grade my yard, install a French drain, and lay down sod. The fence was done okay, still some areas that could use some attention. The French drain looked like it could have been sloped better but they assured me it was sloped well. I guess time will tell. The "grading" they performed was more or less rough up the grass and scatter new dirt. There was absolutely no real grading being performed. Mind you, he only graded the back yard, even though both the front and back were agreed upon. Jonathan also made promises that were not kept, like grading areas against my house to slope away from the foundation. I ended up having to rent an excavator and do the front flower bed myself over two weekends. I had requested Zeon Zoysia sod be put down, but he installed Zenith Zoysia, which has a thicker blade and lighter color. I asked if it was the correct grass and he assured me it was. I later find out it was Zenith Zoysia, informed him, and requested he replace the incorrect sod with the correct sod. He tells me he was willing to pay for half of the grass and perform the installation and removal of the incorrect sod free of charge. I figured that was the best I was going to get so agreed and ordered the sod myself this time. Fast forward a week or two... I have 6 pallets of Zeon Zoysia (~ $1750) delivered to my driveway on a Thursday morning in June/July. Jonathan assures me he is going to have workers removing the old sod on Friday and laying the new sod on Saturday. After contacting Jonathan several times on Friday, nobody showed up. Saturday morning, I wised up, rented a sod cutter, gathered some friends (all professionals that make a minimum of $40 an hour, so much more expensive workers), removed the old sod, and installed the new sod in a weekend. Jonathan and crew never showed up, with the exception of one worker who was about to get dropped off on Sunday but was gone as quickly as he arrived. So I was not only stuck with the incorrect sod, but was paying several junk removal fees, equipment rental, labor, and for the new sod. Mind you, it's not like this occurred over a week... it took Jonathan and team ALMOST 3 MONTHS to pull off this nightmare. This is because, and he won't tell you this when you ask him, but he and all of his workers (not employees, just friends and family) work a 9-5 job THEN show up to perform any work. So everything done is later in the day or on the weekend. And he can't keep any dates he promises, every conversation is pushing the milestone date further down the road.
