We've been to this spot a couple of times and loved it every time. The feeling of the restaurant is fresh, bright and clean! The decor is almost like a farm house contemporary vibe. There is a department store attached, which was already closed when we got there. There's a rich history to the it and pictures along the back of the restaurant was very interesting to look at and read. The food is just amazing - looks so upscale and much care and attention put on it. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely go back to try other items on their menu! Highly recommended and everyone should stop in the experience it!

Leader was incredible to our group of 13, and I couldn't recommend them more! We were in town for a bachelorette party and wanted to stop here for brunch on the way home. We called ahead to make a reservation, which I highly recommend because they opened at 9 a.m. on Sunday, and by 9:05 the restaurant was already full with people waiting. Our server, Lily, was excellent! Our whole table wanted to make sure I left a review for her specifically. She was so respectful and incredibly polite when we asked her to take a group photo. The food was delicious. We had a couple of vegans/vegetarians at our table, and while they had a few accommodating dishes, I really wish they offered a vegan meat alternative. Lily mentioned they normally don't do substitutions, but she let one of the girls swap the meat for hash browns on the eggs Benedict--she was awesome! Also, the hash browns were divine. The restaurant is attached to a few small shop, which gave us the perfect post brunch shopping experience. The whole place is definitely worth a stop!

Leader is a great spot in Cambridge! Great menu with dishes made with fresh ingredients. For starters my wife and I had the walleye cakes and popovers. It was my first time having a popover, very good especially with the maple butter. The walleye cakes were just ok, nothing really stood out about them. I was expecting more flavor from the cakes themselves as well as preserved lemon yogurt. The Reuben was fantastic. Pastrami had great flavor, the braised cabbage was cooked perfectly and the rye bread cooked perfectly. My only regret was not asking for a bit more sauce for the sandwich. Got a side of ranch for fries and it is made from scratch - delicious dill flavor. We decided to get the bread pudding and that was disappointing. Wasn't as ooey gooey as I prefer my bread pudding to be. We will definitely be back for another visit.

Really really exceptional food, service, and a unique building. It's hard to find truly innovative restaurants like this in our smalls towns. We had the "Chef's Tour" which was a three course meal of smoked chicken wontons as the appetizer, pistachio crusted walleye, and blueberry pie and ice cream for dessert. We had the option to pair it with certain wines but passed on that. It was all so good and the service was fast and friendly. If we make it back to Cambridge we will be sure to stop in.

    After shopping at Leader

We came here after state baseball tournament and ordered burgers and Mac n cheese and loved every bite. Incredible food and such friendly service - I couldn't recommend this place more. Attached is a cute boutique attached made it fun to shop while we were in town. Also a coffee shop in the back with fresh baked goods

Wow, what a fun place. All kinds of Scandinavian food. The cocoa and sausage were excellent. The Swedish pancakes were a bit chewy, but the lingonberries made up for it. Great service! I hope to come back.

I'm in town visiting for a wedding and was told this was the place to come for brunch. They were right! The coffee was delicious. My eggs Benedict was incredible - loved the crunch on the edges of the meat. My Swedish pancakes were okay - a little overdone. But not worth docking a star for. My waitress was kind. And the place had a modern, yet small town feel to it. Who knows!? I may come back in the morning.

Cute historic building with a coffee shop, retail store and restaurant. Haven't tried the food yet but the coffee flight was delicious and very reasonably priced! Can't wait to go back and try the food!

Food 4/5 - The food is always delicious at Leaders! The Classic Eggs Benedict and coffee flight is my favorite. The food came out within a timely manner and everything was tasty. Service / Ambiance 4/5 - The overall service was good. The restaurant is clean and well lite. A friendly small town restaurant feel.

My wife and I were very pleased with our lunch at The Leader in Cambridge. The food was awesome. I had a Frisco Melt with fries it was very good. My wife had a plain hamburger with fries and she was very impressed. We were greeted at the door by a very friendly hostess who showed us to our table. She also said goodbye as we left. Our waitress was very attentive and refilled my water twice. Overall a pleasant meal. PS: The restaurant is adjoined by a clothing store, something not all that common in a small town. It was fun to look around.

The chicken wild rice soup was not edible due to the huge amount of rosemary that was added.

Perhaps we have to blame it on the holiday, however, the service and credit card fees are a reflection of this rating. My mom reserved a table for 3 and we felt rushed to order and weren't told about the special Mother's Day menu that would end at 1 pm and not begin on the secondary menu at 2 pm with a noon reservation. We got our order placed in time and I had no issues with the meal as the portion size of the egg bake was was perfection. Our server disappeared once our food was distributed which was a bummer as my mom wanted more coffee. When we went to pay, we were all surprised with the debit/ credit fee of (I believe almost 3%). I have to argue that in today's market as a business, you have got to find ways to omit this fee or very clearly advertise cash only. Lastly, mothers were to get a flower at the table and my mom did not. I understand it said "while supplies last", however, with reservations, this should have been easy to count and distribute accordingly. The ambiance of this old historic building are my style as I appreciate any place that has been preserved. The city of Lindstrom is also such a special place. Breakfasts are solid - good Swedish pancakes and all the typical fixings, homemade soup and sandwiches are also good. Service was a bit slow and there are a lot of rooms in this place, and some of the rooms are drafty so bring a cover as its an old building. Note: all they have is bottled water and drinks to order... we liked this place and if it was closet to home we would come more often.

After 6 mo the tables showed signs of warping in the wood. We also had weird spots start showing up on the top of the sideboard (it was always covered with a piece of custom glass). Mike the store manager was so understanding and helpful and let me exchange it for a different piece (we did have the extended warranty). Then, we went back and bought another table for our kitchen. We purchased the Oliver. Once it was delivered, it just didn't look right in our kitchen. And when we fully extended it with the leaf, there was large gap in the middle and it was very noticeable. We went into this store within two days and stated we would like to exchange it for something else. Sam was obliged to do so, although we were told we had to pay a 20% stocking fee. We did end up exchanging for a different table at scandinavian design, but we did end up having to pay a $300 restocking fee. Seems excessive especially if you're exchanging becuase of a product your not satisfied with. So my advice is to make sure you ask them to open it if there's a leaf and really, really pay attention to the quality before you bring it home. We will still continue to buy from there.Although I will pay more attention to those aspects.

I found some beautiful leather-like low profile dining chairs at Scandinavian Designs. The price was surprisingly reasonable for the quality - we have received quite a few comments from guests about how comfortable they are! This will definitely be our first stop the next time we need to shop for new furniture. One star off because there was no one around to assist me in lifting chairs down from a rack so I could test them out. Being pregnant at the time, it was something I would have appreciated help with!

As loving parents, we want to help them furnish their home with furniture they will cherish. Repurpose Republic has the best stuff and the best prices in the city. I know, because we spent all day checking out consignment stores in every nick and corner of the Twin Cities. (They're certainly not identical twins!) The proprietor Doug is engaging and informative. He has an eye for a pieces that are architectural beauties. Yet, he can also turn that basement throw away into something that should be displayed in the Museum of Modern Art. Repurpose Republic is the kind of place you want to return to often, just to see what new beauty shows up on the showroom floor. Unfortunately, Repurpose Republic was our first stop, and I was exhausted with all the wasted hours visiting other consignment stores. Save yourself some time and just "hit up" Repurpose Republic. While driving past after hanging out with my mom, I slammed in my brakes and whipped a U-ee. Lucky me with my good parking juju, I was able to pull in right out front. I love a good repurpose store and now living in NE I'm in need of some lighting that fits the whole cool Nordeast vibe. This store is chock full of mid century/retro/some redesigned stuff all without that old people basement smell. (Thank God!) This place has more mid century lamps in one store than I've ever seen in my life!! There are a few super groovy ones that would be a blast to have just for conversation it would conjure up all on its own. The con: maybe it's my jacked up NE Mpls rent I'm now paying or my lack of experience on the cost of retro lighting but I'm not sure I can afford these prices. Boo...because I had a good 5 different lamps/lamp sets that my heart was pitter-patterning over. I was able to chitchat with the owner for a bit before there was a sudden Saturday afternoon rush that poured in. I had asked "if it was consignment? Just him buying/reselling? Buy from others that bring things in off the street?" He responded with "All three" and let me know that he also has some local artist work displayed for sale as well. (Ya, this girl is totally into the whole "support local" thing!) I'll definitely be back to see what cools finds get added...and probably be back for a few lamps...after payday.
