A park ranger or staff person on site could help make it feel safer and while there have been obvious repairs made, the boardwalk itself could use some love.

I'm always open for a hike with a small child that keeps you on a boardwalk for the entire journey. At the end of the boardwalk, past the lake, it looks like you can exit the boardwalk for a ground trek. What a pretty place for portraits.

It is incredibly spacious and is all grass turf, which is great but as someone noted before does get muddy. There is parking nearby, a poop bag post, dog toys, a hose, small tub, and seats. It's in a nice part of downtown Jackson, right by Lift and some other shops. Also a random, but somewhat relevant, thing to note is that this is a dog park, not a playground. If you bring kids, they may get bored. But this park isn't technically for them anyway. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because it was very muddy when we visited. I also hope they set up some obstacle courses or something to give pups some exercise and mental stimulation.

Dog-friendly The mounds themselves are interesting to see and conceptualize the amount of human labor that went into constructing them almost 2000 years ago. Nice little museum. There was no sign! The only sign there just said not to play them. They could at least make a sign that says if you play it you buy it. Now I have a flute that I don't want and a memory that will bother me when I try to sleep for the next five years. She really hurt my feelings :(. But the mound was really cool!
