"Better than new"…read more I had a fantastic experience with Luggage & Leather Depot on the good ol' Hamden Road. I was dashing out to a meeting a week or so ago. Grabbed the trusty messenger bag con laptop, and bang! - strap broke, and everything spilled onto the floor. I collected everything, checked to see what had happened, and proceeded to be late to my meeting. When I arrived back home, the first thing I did was try to locate a leather repair shop, and the depot was at the top of the list, and less than a mile from me. I called, and the gent said that they would likely be able to fix it, so I took a walk over, and dropped off the bag. In less than 3 days, Mr. Kim called to inform me that he'd completed the repair. Again, I walked over to retrieve my Mark & Graham bag for a grand total of $38. Not only did I just save a few hundred dollars by not having to buy a new bag, but the repair was as advertised - "better than new" - with new leather, and an added metal bar for strength. I can't recommend this business highly enough. I'm looking forward to my next interaction - think I'll buy something new there next time. See you in town!

It was definitely in need of repair. Mr. Kim was able to get the repairs done in a little over a week and the repair work was so seamless that I could barely tell what had been fixed. The only telltale sign is that he added a new, stronger zipper to replace the broken one which actually made it much easier for me to open and close the interior compartment. The $45 I spent in repairs was a worthwhile investment to ensure I would have many more years of adventures to come with my fabulous ruby red suitcase!

One of the best is that Guido (the owner) has long term relationships with all the guides, drivers and hotels that you will come in contact with on one of these trips. On this most recent trip the itinerary was well thought out, and really gave us a chance to see the best of London. Our guide was Janet and her knowledge of the area, the sites and the history were all exceptional. Within our time together Janet's punctuality and overall hospitality clearly set her apart as one of the best. By the end of our time it was like seeing a wonderful city with a long time friend. The hotels were in perfect locations, all the tours were private with priority entry into the busy attractions (no waiting in lines!), and most of the tour guides had 10-20+ years of guide experience with education in history and/or architecture matching the tour. Also, having them provide train and airline reservations and drivers eliminated all stress getting from one place to another on time and kept us from driving and getting lost in crazy city traffic. This is a fairly large exchange (2 levels) with a small food court on the second level, as well as what is now a ScriptCenter kiosk (used to be an actual pharmacy) next to customer service, and a uniform "shop" in the front on the first floor, AND a Class Six (liquor store) on the first floor as well. I will say that more often than not, there is something going on with the escalators so you may be able to travel one way on the escalator but not the other, requiring you to take the elevator back up/down. I find that this exchange is always pretty well stocked and have never had an issue with them being out of whatever item(s) I came for, and just like any other exchange, items are typically priced a little cheaper than their out in town equivalent, with the addition of tax-free sales. The store is typically pretty well organized and well maintained, always clean, and the staff is relatively friendly/helpful.
