It's been awhile since going to this location but my visit earlier was good. I went pretty early in the day so it wasn't too busy. The store was well stocked with holiday decor! In my quest to finish decorating, I stopped by TJ Max. It was very crowded. The decorations are located in the back of the store. The organization of the holiday decor is strange. You have to weave around the back and side of the store to find certain items. They had some cute stuff. I would say the items were pretty reasonable. I am having regret about not buying this cute rocking horse nutcracker. The prices were pretty good. As far as sales help, they were busy stocking and manning the registers. They had a nice selection of larger nutcrackers and other decorations. But, again, there was some imperfections and damages on the merchandise. I am sure, that no one is going to come and inspect, my decorations, but I just wanted something without visible damage. So, if you are a little less picky than me or you are handy and can repaint or fix these items, you are in for a treat. I would definitely try it again and see if they had some new items in stock. One time, I called this location and transferred to handbag dept to locate a handbag for me, betty at first lied and said she didn't see the bag, she then came back to phone few mins later and she then said she found it but then made up a bull**** excuse to not put it on hold for me when I've never experienced nothing like this before, yet they have all other different customers items on hold, they like to mistreat certain customers. She made up lie and said "management told me to not put nothing on hold for you", unprofessional and a lie to say because im a paying customer and I literally am not doing nothing wrong by requesting to put something on hold, yet as mentioned before, they are allowing other certain customers items being kept on hold. And every time i entered this location, it just overall gives bad vibes and nothing but rude, miserable, horrible, unprofessional cashiers and managers at this location, all of them are, and none of them are nice. And there's one specific cashier here who steps in and wrongfully refuses to not allow me to do return and repurchase yet one time i saw she allowed a different customer to do return and repurchase. They are very slow at this location despite hardly having any customers at this location. And one time I was browsing the store and it wasn't even near closing time, and miserable rude Carla O. and Sofia yells saying "IF YOU ARE MAKING A PURCHASE THEN YOU NEED TO GET CHECKOUT LINE NOW". This is no way to treat a customer like this at all. And then one time, I saw a coach bag at this location and I put it on hold and I was first and only customer to put this bag on hold. I told a cashier I was planning to come back later to purchase it. I called throughout day to make sure it was still on hold and spoke to different cashiers and thet told me yes it is. Later on in the day, I called and miserable, rude betty answers and I told her want to speak to a manager and she refused to transfer me to manager, I told her about the coach bag on hold and she made up lies saying "you have to come an hour or two before closing to come get the bag because if you don't it will get taken off hold and go back on the sales floor" and this is not tj maxx hold policy at all, stuff gets hold until end of day at closing, not an hr or two. Betty is unprofessional and rude and likes to lie. I then called back an hr later and rude miserable Sofia answers and she literally said same thing and putting a time limit on my item on hold when i explained it would take me an hr to get there, she didn't care at all. I then called back and rude miserable betty answers and I kept telling them to keep the bag on hold for me because it will take me an hr to get there, betty lied and said "ok it will be on hold for you when you get here". They all lied, they removed bag off hold yet I saw they kept other customers items on hold, and Juan Carlos blocked me from purchasing the bag and I walked out crying and upset. These terrible, miserable, unprofessional employees, names are: Carla o., Betty, Sofia, Juan Carlos, Eleni G. and a few other miserable rude cashier names i don't have, anyway they all will purposely take certain customers items off hold and sell to somebody else and overall act very mean and unprofessional and yell for no reason and unwilling to help overall, they shouldn't be working at tj maxx or any retail dept store if this is how they treat customers. I reported everything that happened to tj maxx customer service, claim i would hear from a district manager and never heard back from anyone. Corporate doesn't seem to care or take complaints seriously when customers complain about in store experiences. Hardly anyone shops at this location anyway. This location is a bit smaller than others in the DMV area but I still managed to spend lots of time and a good bit of money on clothes and shoes that I found. The stuff I got would have been two or three times as expensive at a department store in the mall or if buying online. That's a win for me and I don't even mind the extra time it takes to search the many racks of clothing. It's well organized and dressing rooms were clean enough. Loved, loved, loved this store. This TJ Maxx store was open until 11 pm. The store was not crowded with customers. The store was extremely well stocked and organized. This store carries more high end designer clothing and accessories. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection and quality of the after 5 women's clothes. The store has everything from pets, home goods, clothing and more. I found the store to be a little messy with stuff everywhere but that should be expected with the holiday season. I'm not sure why they have low ratings. Parking at this shopping center is the worst. If you like to walk like me, park by the old Chuys and walk 1000 steps. You won't have to deal with cars flying past you. They are inside the mini mall. Take the escalator to the second floor and you're there. They seem like a smaller store, but I like that this location is clean and organized. People actually take care of this store. At this location, I found some gems. In the skincare aisle, I found a lot Korean Skin care lines, at a bargain price. At Ulta I would've paid 2x as much. In the pantry area, they have an entire aisle dedicated for your food needs. Syrups for your coffee, olive oils, keto snacks and protein powders. I make protein shakes , and they sale Vital Collagen powders for less than you would get at GNC or Whole Foods. I had a hospital visit in the area and decided to stop to get a few things. My experience was over all terrible. I saw shoes that I liked and decided to try them on. Unfortunately what looked like a sensor was broken off or made into the shoe or something. So it poked me. I looked for someone to help me but no one spoke English. So they say. I should have asked the office who followed me for a good bit. After going to check out. Because the pain in my foot became more intense. I said something to them. NOOOO ONE apologized they act as if they couldn't understand me. So then I asked for a discount for the other pair I wanted. And it was a huge deal still no apology. The manager taller heavy set black lady came over didn't introduce her self give an apology nothing. She gave me a $4 discount and sent me on my way. I told her as I'm walking about. I'm not sure why the ratings on this tj Maxx are so low. I love TJ Maxx and have been to many different stores and they all feel about the same to me. The prices are great and they have plenty of nice brands on discount. If you go after a recent holiday the discount/clearance tables can be a bit messy and they do sell stuff that look returned in not the greatest condition. Those are usually priced super super cheap though and you can always avoid those sections if you're not interested in those things. I mostly go here when I just want to get some random clothing or other items. I've bought plenty of athletic clothes and workout attire from here and that's pretty much what makes up my entire wardrobe for sports. Just need a dry fit shirt to sweat in and would much rather pay 8 dollars for it here than 25 dollars at an adidas or Nike store. If you're looking for specific sizes especially for pants it might be harder to shop here and I go elsewhere for that. This place is also great for buying gifts as they have a large assortment of random things from water bottles to children's toys to board games. Overall if you like TJ Maxx you won't have an issue with this location as it's pretty similar to any other I've been. The staff are friendly and the store can get messy around peak shopping times but i think that's typical of any store. read more

Worst TJ MAXX on the east coast and I have tried them all. No one shops at these places to have the pleasure of Augustina fat shaming them at the dressing room- LITERALLY telling the woman in front of me she shouldn't bother trying on a pair of pants because there is NO WAY they'll fit and she needs EXTRA large- astounding! Augustina is a "fashion designer" by the way- so she "Knows". Meanwhile there is an absurd line just to try shit on and she starts telling the rest of the women in line how "we'll see, those pants won't fit". I have witnessed such blatant rudeness in ages- everyone in line was left speechless. It's 2023 and we don't need to be commenting on women's bodies ESPECIALLY at the dressing room which is already triggering for some ladies. When I finally escaped the line to EXIT the dressing room my entire cart full of things including my jacket and water bottle was gone. Augustina informed me "it's impossible someone would take it if it had items in it." Weird- cuz it's not here. I would have abandoned the purchase to escape the energy of this place but I love that waterbottle. Walked around the whole store only to find it up front- the EMPLOYEES took it and filled it with shit other people were returning. Probably one of the worst TJ Maxx locations! This TJ Maxx is located upstairs in the Micro Center building, and because they have so many items, the aisles are a little narrow and slightly cramped. Not much variety of items, and the number of things that they had was quite overwhelming, as they were not organized. I found a gigantic strawberry decorative piece which I thought was pretty. A little tricky to find at first, this store has two entrances. This store is located on the third floor if you're coming from the E Jefferson Street side and on the ground floor if you're coming from the Rockville Pike side. There's a faux-mall feel, given that there's only four stores total: TJ Maxx, Micro Center, Five Below, and Dollar Tree. The further back you go into TJ Maxx, the messier it gets. I usually enjoy walking through the aisles at TJ Maxx and checking out and debating over random home goods, but here I felt so discouraged by the messiness and clutter that it felt like walking through, and tripping over items in, a thrift store--nothing wrong with a thrift store, but TJ Maxx isn't one. There were plenty of employees working the floor, but it seemed like the store could use additional coverage. read more

I don't know why this TJ Maxx gets so much hate! It's literally TJ Maxx so it's going to be crowded with people and there are going to be full shelves and a lot of items, so things might get a bit disorganized sometimes, BUT I've always considered it to be well organized compared to a Marshall's for example. They always have so many items, especially in the beauty section and the purses. The prices are great and the only thing I have to complain about is the management being kind of rude. The employee that was helping us at the register was just trying to be kind and patient and trying to help out with some issues with some of our items, only to receive snappy remarks and condescension from the manager. Some of the other employees can be a bit rude too, but most employees are personable and helpful. As for the rude ones, I know that the store gets very busy and I don't blame them for being exhausted. I will always vouch for this TJ Maxx. read more

I took the plants in and the manager Roderick let me switch them out and wear out the new pair Roderick let me put my purchase from Trader Joe's behind the counter while I tried the pants on. Went to buy a pair of jeans, waited over 15 minutes in line as only one person seemed to actually be working even though 4 or 5 employees were standing around behind the registers. I received absolutely terrible customer service when I went to this TJ Maxx location yesterday. I was trying to return an item that had the security ink tag still attached, and I was met with disdain. Upon explaining that I did not have the receipt, but the price tag was clearly still on the item, I was told that I could not return the item. That makes NO sense. I was also told to go to the original TJ Maxx where the item was bought to return the item. What is the difference? Hi, my name is Diana, and I'm a self proclaimed "Maxxinista". Some might say it's a problem, some might say it's a way to discover solutions... either way... I love shamelessly browsing isles upon isles of discounted designer clothing. I even indulge in the occasional impulse buy while clamoring to hold onto my black mesh bag piled up with new possibilities while I b-line it towards the women's fitting room. For the most part it's what you'd expect. Gets a little messy during peak traffic times (rush hour & weekends), but there are some fun goods to be gotten here. It's also not the largest retail Maxxinista space I've seen, but they do a good job of trying to keep it organized. Parking is a pain though... this location shares a lot with several other high volume stores (Planet Fitness, Micro Center, Trader Joes, Ross...etc.) so unless you get there at an off hour, there's bound to be some circling before you snag a spot. Service here sucks and their return policy is ridiculous. If you don't have your receipt, they won't give you store credit without your driver's license. I recently tried to return $8 worth of unopened coffee I'd purchased (no receipt) and I left my license at home. They wouldn't take the merchandise back without driver's license (even though I had my credit card with my name on it & other federal photo identification). For $8 worth of coffee???! Come on people! It's located on the top level, so you have to take an escalator up. No one greeted us and everything was on the floor and it wasn't busy for a Saturday night. The selection was very slim. read more

I feel the staff try to keep the store organized, but they cannot keep up with the customers picking up items, placing them in another aisle and so on. I would be excited to find a great purchase here.... The only Kate Spade I came across was a $120 diaper bag. I actually considered using it as a regular bag and removing the cushy changing pad it came with, but had to remind myself that it was a diaper bag!! The staff here is SO incredibly rude. I had a return without a receipt (which I know isn't ideal, but it happens) and the woman who processed my return was BEYOND rude. She talked poorly to another employee and gave me a horrible attitude. Another employee told me to "move" because apparently I was in her way, simply looking at clothes. I love Tjmaxx and I am used to buy one or two items every time I visit the one in Greenbelt. But this store in Rockville needs to train the store manager and associates. I had purchased a pair of shoes that I tried on at home and found out they looked used. The store manager at that time refused to give me a store credits without a receipt . Today, I stopped by to return an online item with the original receipt and within the return period and the sale associate did not know how to read the invoice. She can barely speak or understand English and she was rude. Her manager advised her to complete the refund otherwise she wont do it due to her ignorance. I've been to a bunch of TJmaxxs over a couple states. This place easily sticks out as the worst. It's just Ross without Ross prices. This place doesn't have anything special about it other than its convenient location in the busiest part of Rockville Pike. The selection is same-ol same-ol with nothing that makes it stand out. If I had to pick something, I guess they do have a lot of sports stuff on the right wall. The store is an overall mess with piles of boxes, toys, clothes, and useless gadgets that you have to climb over. Then she asked for my credit card to put it back on there, I informed her my husband paid with his card and we have already payed the bill. She offered me a store credit, I declined, having already looked for something good-there is nothing good here today. She then handed me the shirt and my receipt and said 'well, you can just keep this. I have no way of knowing this was purchased by you or your husband.' Store is a mess with returned and broken merchandise put back on the shelf at full-price. I found two items with problems, and I was willing to buy both, but at a discount. One item was a Best Friends by Sheri Pet Igloo. The store had two of them. One of them was misshapen (I wasn't sure if it would correct over time), and the one I really wanted had many cat hairs and undetermined dirt inside it. The store manager (long blonde hair) said she'd take a dollar off. No thanks--not worth the cost of bringing it inside my house if it has fleas in it. The second item was a plexiglass make-up organizer tray that had a cracked corner--most likely a customer dropped it. I was willing to buy it at a discount, but there was no price tag. The only other similar item on the shelf also had a cracked corner, but at least that one had a price tag. I first asked the hard-working associate who was cleaning nearby if he had any more of these. He said they would get more in the following day. Why do I find it hard to believe they would get these make-up trays delivered on a daily basis? Not worth going back the next day to check. So I brought it up to the register and waited ten minutes as the manager called that hard-working employee up and then back to find out the price. I couldn't wait any longer due to a foot condition, which makes it hard for me to shop in stores in the first place. So overall, a wasted and painful trip. read more
