This school has been absolutely perfect for our family since he was diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum as being a child with High-Functioning Autism. He is not in a special education classroom and is not on an IEP and does not need to be at this school. The school treats each child as an individual and educates them to their specific needs and abilities. The school has a four-day school week and there is no homework being brought home. My nephew has been allowed to advance at his own level, even up to the next grade level, and does not have the stigma of being treated like he is in special education. All children are on a behavior management program where they are rewarded for good behavior and he is frequently going on field trips. Bullying is treated appropriately and I'm ecstatic to hear my nephew be able to actually say for the first time that he has "friends." He has sensory issues with clothes and is allowed to wear clothes that are comfortable to him. I like this school because my nephew is treated like a capable child and for the first time in his life is enjoying school and really likes his teachers. It's a pleasure to see him come home from school in a good mood and a lot of his behavioral issues at home have greatly decreased since he has been enrolled at this school. I would totally recommend this school to any parent who has a child on the autism spectrum and/or has ADHD/ADD, or has any type of learning disability.

They went when they were very young and even though they don't remember things like going to their first protest (w/ the students of UNM protesting the Invasion of Iraq in '03) or to Disneyland, they both remember Our Montessori and the wonderful teachers, especially Ms. Belinda and Mr. Chris. They remember the school down to details like the fishtank, the classrooms decorated with planets and red bicycles. When I told Alasia I spoke with Ms. Roxanne, she asked "Wow, does she remember us?" I told her yes and her face lit up. I would recommend this school to every parent. The staff is attentive, genuinely love teaching and are dedicated to the mission of Montessori. In NYC, I would have never been able to afford to send my daughters to a school like this. The property is true country livin' and from what I understand, that's exactly what this nonprofit that assists folks with developmental disabilities -- chiefly, those on the autism spectrum -- is going for. What an incredible organization. And when you think about it, of course, simplifying is the solution. Individuals on the spectrum tend, generally, to really struggle with the peripheral, what's going on around them, ambient noise and motion and shadow, and the urban everyday is absolutely clattering with these distractions. Mandy's Farm provides a permanent residence -- it's a home, first and foremost -- for people who need to take shelter from the storm. Residents learn to simply live, whether that's cooking or growing food or riding horses, the main facility includes a specially designed swimming pool for rehabilitation, the farm provides tactile experiences and interactions with nature. How friggin' genius, man. Essentially, the story goes that the farm was named after Mandy, her parents were concerned about what Mandy would do as she matured and they got older, if she might struggle to handle the busy world around her, and so they built this farm, and Mandy started her own little business, E is for Eggs (she loves Sesame Street), and the farm has grown to support many people, a job training program, and produce they sell to local growers markets. I came to write a review on my experience, which was TERRIBLE by the way, and was not shocked at all to see that there are nothing but negative reviews. This agency is a disgusting excuse. I moved here from out of state and was directed to the district to answer a question about registering my son. First of all, the student services phone number goes straight to voicemail, there isn't even an option to speak to a person when you call for this department, you have to leave a message and hurry up and wait. I left a message and waited THREE DAYS to get ONE QUESTION answered and the woman who called me back asked if my questions had been addressed and then hung up on me. She did not attempt to call me back or anything, despite obviously at the very least hearing me say hello, because had she not she would not have proceeded to ask if my concern had been addressed. If your not going to have the option for people to speak with a live person when they call, you could at least have the common courtesy to do your best to make sure that your giving people the opportunity to receive they help they need. I called back and expressed to the receptionist that I had already waited 3 days for a response and was pretty much immediately hung up on and she immediately transferred me right into the voicemail. I called back and she was extremely RUDE advising that it was not her issue and I could either leave another voicemail and wait again or drive down to the office. Once I arrived, the complete and total lack of concern was even more evident as I was greeted by the same women who was not willing to be of any assistance over the phone and additionally she gave me misinformation even being in her face. All in all I had to take a nearly hour round trip drive to ask ONE QUESTION as a result of the complete and total lack of concern, competence, compassion, and a number of other things from this entity. Only half of teachers are actually respectful and know how to properly teach a class, the majority I had seen do not know how to even teach anyone. Not only are some teachers disrespectful, the Principal is the worst staff in the school, he is hostile towards the students during school hours in his office, making many student uncomfortable including even almost touching a student on the stomach, made female workers leave due to sharing their own opinions and even going far as to putting his own photos for a school yearbook and covering up designs that the teachers have been working on without informing them. Not only did the Principal do these horrible things, he believes that children that are special needs need to work harder, not believing that they should have more help, not believing they truly need more help than most students, he believes they need to work harder. The hostility of the teachers are sometimes slightly severe, yelling towards students, cursing right in front of them, and making some students feel incompetent in their skills at learning one subject, and sometimes giving students barely any time to write down notes during class. Hostility with students moderate, only high amounts of disrespect, such as trying to provoke teachers and other students, almost every student in the school cursing and flipping eachother off, vandalism of property, constant stealing from other students, immediately getting off task, causing some physical harm to students and harassment such as throwing things across rooms, poking, tripping, or calling eachother vulgar insults. Do not send your child to this school unless you want your child to be struggling in high school and in life.

At the previous school my child was hit by a teacher and we created an investigation. So I wanted my child to be in an educational system in which I could have access to video monitoring services and one that held teachers accountable. So I as any parents of a little one I was skeptical of every place that I went to observe and I ended liking kiddie academy because of their philosophy, rules, and how they hold teachers accountable. My child has a few couples of days getting used to his new school and he did bite a child one day and got suspended. However in no time he learned to get a long with the rest of the children and be friends with children. I saw my child grow as the little butterfly he is and be confident in his social skills and educational journey. He was able to graduate from pre-K with his peers and do the summer program as well. He loved it so much that me that he is in kinder he tells me he misses Kiddie academy friends and teachers. The team is amazing and wonderful and I will forever be grateful they took care of my little one as one of theirs.

When I had first heard about it I was intrigued by the highly advertised posters coming from this school regarding their education standards, teachers, proficiency, state testing, MAS being "nationally" ranked and #1 in Charter School. I was quite surprised how much they try to sell their school and advertise for such accomplishments. After the first month of my daughter attending there in 5th grade, I received a call stating she had "called 911 on their phone". After receiving this call about what she did I was a bit concerned because my child was NEVER involved in any incidents at her previous school. It turned out to be a "friend" of hers that did it and my child took the blame. I didn't recieve another phone call, until another school year after. This time it was about her "eating Cheetos in class". After that it seemed that between her dad and I, we were receiving calls every other day regarding her and what she was doing, "she is not on topic", "she is braiding her hair", "she's putting on lipgloss", "she is talking to her friends", "she is taking too long in the restroom". The frequency of calling over nothing was starting to be disruptive in our daily lives. At first I did appreciate the contacting but after some of the reasons why they were calling? I'm like "ok, I'll have a talk with her". This was all new to me, especially since my child was never in trouble at her previous school, now her teachers were calling about every little thing, she did and didn't do. The receptionist in the front always had an attitude about her dad and I signing her out. "It has to be before 2:30", "she's at lunch, you're gonna have to wait 30 min till she finishes and walks back to class", etc. Ridiculous, definitely not a traditional school where they use an intercom to communicate for the students. The urgency of time was NEVER there at this school. Then when she would arrive we'd have to wait another 5-10 minutes for them to get her phone. My child was late for majority of her appointments due to me sitting there in the lobby waiting for her. I'm sorry but if my child had an appointment after 2:30. You best believe I will be signing her out! My child played volleyball for a year and the fact that they had scheduled times and days was convenient. But sometimes they wouldn't know till the day of what time their game would be at, who they were playing or even if she would get playing time. That's definitely unacceptable and disorganized. Students are consistently sitting in a room all day, not sure if they even have windows (not from what I've seen in her classrooms over the years). Meanwhile the teachers are switching in and out teaching different subjects. Students are not being taught the basic independency skill to walk to another classroom to learn the subject for middle school or high school, to visit a locker in between passing periods to drop off books or material, or having homework and having books and study material provided to them to take home. Their grading system is very complicated to understand, it's not a traditional A,B,C,D,F grading system. I shouldn't say what needs to improve, I think you all know what should be improved. I think this school over my child's time there, did put her a little behind in learning. I would've moved her sooner if we had the chance! I'm only speaking from our experience!

Some of their many strong points are; Cleanliness, secure, communicate (Brightwheel, which they actually use almost every few hours!), kind, loving towards the kids... In particular, Joy (the Director) is top notch. On our first week she personally called me to let me know my daughter was doing okay. They genuinely care about their family's.
