Do Not Use Leave Strong Divorce Services. When she calculated the support values using the DissoMaster program, she only used my income while assigning no income to my ex spouse. My ex spouse was voluntarily unemployed and was fully capable of finding employment at an income that would have exceeded my income. This skewed the amount of support in favor of my ex spouse. We were in a mediation session and she was suppose to be non-bias and represent both parties. She did not. I sent several emails to inquire about this issue and never got a reply. My ex and I started the mediation process with a different mediator. We interviewed four mediators in North County and chose one that was also in Carlsbad (and has lots of yelp reviews, no names...). We ended up paying for our mediation twice. It was such a bad experience with the first mediator that we ended up switching to Laura midway through. The other one was not organized, not detail oriented, took sides, and it sure didn't feel like mediation. It was worth every penny to switch to Laura and I am so glad that we made that decision. I am so confused with these reviews. She became unresponsive after the first meeting because my husband was having a hard time getting himself to schedule the next to come to terms. Instead of explaining why she wouldn't respond to my emails asking for advice on how to keep moving forward, she went dark. She was of no help when I was unsure of what to do and how to continue. Even if we needed lawyers, she could have responded. I know we could have come to terms through mediation, as it was not a high conflict divorce, it was just a disagreement about financials. Mediation is mean to help two people come to terms in an amicable situation like we were in. We had to hire lawyers because I didn't know what else to do, but we ended up coming to terms without them and just paying them to do the paperwork. Again, I don't know why Laura felt she needed to just completely ghost us. I was patient until weeks went by and she didn't respond. Instead of explaining how advice could pull her out of a neutral place and pointing me to solutions or recommendations, she just didn't respond. There is very little chance that divorce mediation is going to be painless or easy, but I will tell you, the process was a LOT less painful than I had anticipated, thanks to Laura. Laura was selected by my ex-wife as our mediator. I deferred to her wishes and went along. Laura is certainly a friendly and calming person, but she was little more than a glorified document service provider. There was little in the way of guidance in terms of division of the assets or facilitating that process. It was left to my ex-wife and me to make proposals and discuss them with each other in front of Laura. We had a subsequent issue to address through a court order for enforcement. The judge noted that the MSA was "very poorly written". While we both had attorneys review the document prepared by Laura, she was the author and should have provided better guidance and wording for an element that was mildly beyond the otherwise boiler plate MSA. The lack of input from the reviewing attorneys is a separate issue. Laura can effectively prepare your documents for you, but I would not suggest relying on her to guide you through any real conflict. read more
