Alright kids, time to gather 'round and hear a tale of a wondrous place hidden in a tiny strip just past Ekon on Colonial. You wouldn't think much of the place looking at it from the outside, and your first reaction might be to think: "What the heck is this place anyway? Some kind of plant store?" But upon walking in (Watch your step! No seriously, I've seen people trip on that steep bit of stair) You're suddenly hit the pleasant aroma of burning incense and the sound of soft music playing in the background, and so the fun begins.... Like Dana H. Said; they've got a VERY extensive variety of natural herbs and teas. Teas for things you wouldn't even think of like "blood pressure" and "Insomnia." As well as your usual 'earl grey' and 'oolong' . I am personally very pleased with the fact that Orlando has a shop that offers an aid to such ailments. It gives people a choice to go natural as opposed to having to think that their only option is to head straight for meds. There are some interesting types of teas that I'd be willing to buy if I knew what they'd taste like. I really wish they'd do tea sampling on the weekends or something. I think that would get people excited about what they have to offer. As far as prices are concerned; my 1oz blend runs at $1.90... No kidding. You simply can't beat it. The staff is super friendly too, and have always been willing to answer questions. So the next time you're driving down Colonial and you see that hippie looking store with a poster of a model next to it who looks like she's doing a commercial for Colgate white strips, but she's holding a gyro in her hand and in big bold letters it says "EAT MORE GYROS" You'll know that your in the right place..... I am quite sure I will be here often. Think of it as a natural medicine shoppe. An herbalist has created medicinal blends of teas and herbs to help the body heal. I love that the blends are clearly marked for condition. So, if you have issues with cholesterol, hypertension, or even if you just want bigger boobs (the bustin out mix), there is a blend for you! I was able to try the fresh royal jelly here as well. The staff member says it tastes like cum (this is what she says--true story) so I HAD to try some before I left the store. In addition to medicinal blends, containers, educational books, other loose herbs and teas, incenses, and more can be found here. Some of the herbs are given in capsule form, and not in tea blends. This place is awesome. I live right up the road and I never thought to hop in and check it out. A friend took me there today and I was highly impressed. Leaves and Roots sells a variety of natural herbs, vitamins, and teas. They have everything - from more common things like spearmint, to rarer items like devil's claw. The place is extremely organized, with all of the loose herbs put into little baggies and contained in labeled jars that are stacked on shelves. You can buy most herbs in 1 oz. or 2 oz. bags. If you don't want the loose stuff, they also have caplets. If you want, you can even buy empty capsules and fill them with your own mix of herbs. The prices are also excellent... you will definitely get a deal if you buy herbs here instead of Whole Foods for example. The other side of the shop has an array of incense, oils, and other "goodies." I had fun just wandering around and seeing all the cool stuff. Plus, it smells heavenly in the store. Like incense and health. :) I was super excited to find a 16 oz. bottle of local wildflower honey (from right off of SR-520!) for $9.00. Great for allergies... The best thing about this store is the knowledgeable and friendly staff. They know their stuff and they will help you in any way that they can. They have a table up front with various books and references that you can use to find out what certain plants and herbs do. They even have a free copier that you can use (drop a buck in the donation bucket if you have one!). Basically, this place is a hidden local gem. Amazing store for all natural (read: witchy) finds of a wide variety! I go for the essential oils, which are kept at room temp in a drawer system on the right side of the store. I make candles at home using the oils, and I have found nearly every one I need at Leaves and Roots. (The ones they don't carry you can find on Amazon for relatively cheap, but it's so much more satisfying to shop local!) The oils are bottled in dark, glass jars to preserve their integrity and protect them from sunlight, which can prematurely break them down. The ladies recently added dropper tops to all the oils too, which is super convenient for my purposes. In addition to the oils, they have a huge selection of herbs ranging anywhere from raw stevia and cajun seasoning to colon cleansing blends and bottled black cohosh (which helps women going through menopause.) I haven't taken time to explore all the tea blends and spices but the selection is extensive. Also grab New Agey treasures of all kinds here like Himalayan salt lamps, healing rocks corresponding to zodiac signs and chakra balancing, and aroma and color therapy candles. I walked into the store and tripped because I could not take my eyes off the HUGE selection, of neatly displayed herbs in-cased in jars. Each jar was labeled and a brief description was available. They sell bulk herbs, and some premixed pills. I tried the energy mix, and the chill pill. The chill pill definitely works for me. The energy mix however didn't do such a good job i assume this is because coffee, no doz, and red bull don't work either. I have a feeling I've taxed that stimulation area to retirement. They also have perfume oils, one of my fav scent that I usually have to trek to the flea market for was here!!!!! and the scent was spot on!! They also carry supplies for you to use the herbs. I bought some cloth like tea bags that are still holding up like new after many uses. I really love this place and would recommend it to anyone. read more

We all have our less-than-stellar moments. But those moments do impact others and definitely impact success in the business world. Today was my first time in this type of store after meeting with an herbalist regarding some scary, chronic symptoms I've been having. Traditional Western medicine has not been able to help me. Growing up in this westernized medical society, I never even considered using actual leaves and roots to treat illness, until now. I was so grateful to learn that this store wasn't far from my home. Well, when I arrived the cashier was eating her lunch. It never feels good for either party involved to interrupt someone trying to eat. Every employee deserves private time, away from customers, to enjoy their food. Every customer also deserves assistance, when needed. Unfortunately, there were no other employees around so we had to interrupt. Another customer and I needed guidance and this employee was clearly irritated by our questions and need for assistance. I had specific questions that were constantly interrupted with an overall knowledge speech to get me out of the way. If I didn't need these herbs so desperately, I would have walked out and taken my business elsewhere. Dealing with people seeking relief from illness, requires a certain level of patience, empathy and willingness to help. I hope this employee has those qualities and was simply having one of those less-than-stellar moments. We've all had them. All of the bins I had been directed to were completely empty. Thankfully after several failed attempts for us to help ourselves, she frustratedly called for help. Another employee by the name of Alexis arrived and offered assistance. It Alexis was truly a godsend. She listened to my questions and she offered help and personal advice. She walked me from aisle to aisle to show me what they had. She also provided me with instruction sheets. By the time I reached the register, the first employee was being kind and helpful. I guess we had just caught her during one of those hangry moments when you think you have a moment to yourself to eat and two needy customers walk in. Perhaps I am old-fashioned but, to be the most professional and fair to everyone involved, I would suggest that employees eat privately, away from customer view. I have to be honest. It doesn't look very professional to walk into a place of business and the first thing you see is someone behind the register eating. First impressions really do count. read more

I just spoke with the owner of this shop on the phone, first things first in all fairness I have pruchased from them online in the pass with no problem I love the inventory there and the somewhat fast service. Oh and they have come highly recommend by a couple that have shopped there for about 20 years, well my husband placed an order by himself, and was tracking it based on the information given him by Leaves and Roots, well his package didnt come tracking said it had been delivered left on the proch or near mailbox maybe it was delivered to another address I dont really know what i know we didnt receive it. With that being said here what i received from the owner herself. I'm sending you another order with a tracking number which was fine and appreciate but heres where it went bad for me. Unforunately there are a lot of dishonest people in the world today and UPS said they delivered it. So someone either stole it or you are pentending you didnt get it. Really!!!! I really was ok with everything she said until she said i might have stolen the order, that Ma'am is a personal attack on my character and yes i take that very personal when told that she couldnt see where what she said was very hurtful nice inventory but sorry that her outlook on people and society has been so bad for that reason i will never shop there again and she dont care, i dont wish her any bad but she needs to rethink how she comes off to her customer's. read more
