I originally hired Josh years ago for a very small job which he humbly accepted in between his other large jobs (in hindsight he was far overqualified). I knew he would be our person for any future projects. When it came time for cabinetry for our basement finish, I knew Josh was who we would use. To cover my bases, I explored a couple other quotes. Here's the nutshell on that. While Josh's pricing was at first glance (slightly) on the higher side than other quotes, the value easily exceeded the other quotes we got. One was slightly less but the cabinets would have to be painted after install (they didn't provide painting) whereas Josh follows best practices and all cabinets were expertly painted prior to install. Josh is also able to do just about anything you can dream of. We did a custom wardrobe-style storage closet with paneling to match an adjacent wall and the work he did seamlessly integrates with the work of our basement carpenter. Moreover, when some things went south with our project and we had to have the floors redone, Josh really saved us. We no longer trusted our original carpenter and Josh helped fix trim work that had been damaged in the floor debacle process. As you can see, I really can't say enough good things about Josh and his skills. The bonus to all of this is he is a kind, genuine person who is genuinely wonderful to be around. Don't be surprised if it feels as comfortable having him in your home as it does a long-time friend. Show Josh respect and kindness and he will return it tenfold and more.

However he then disappeared and stopped replying to any of my emails as I was looking to get further information. We ended up deciding to move forward with another contractor for this project, but I am a bit bummed that David disappeared as he seemed like someone who would do a solid job.

David, Aaron, and the rest of their crew were easy to work with from start to finish -- clear communication, very responsive, always on time, no surprises, no excuses. Just quality materials and quality workmanship at a fair price. David really listened to what we wanted and made sure we were fully satisfied. He was patient with us as we hemmed and hawed over details before starting the project ... but he got the job done quickly once we decided. I really appreciate David and Aaron's attention to detail. Despite the old decking being a warped mess and the joists being a bit uneven, they made sure that the new decking is level and that all boards align cleanly. The painting is fantastic as well -- they did an amazing job painting the accent trim, much cleaner lines than the painting company who repainted our house last year. Last but not least, they did an amazing job fixing our front door. Our house is 118 years old. I'm not sure how old the front door is, but probably well over 50 years. The clear-coat had worn off almost completely and the hinges sagged so that the door didn't swing smoothly and didn't latch properly. Aaron and his crew sanded and refinished the entry door and screen door so they look amazing, and re-hung the door so that it swings smoothly and latches easily. I had previously talked to a door contractor and two general contractors, and all of them said the door would need to be replaced. Aaron and his crew took care of it in just a few hours. And we get to keep our beautiful antique door! I highly recommend DW General Contractors and I look forward to working with them on our next project.

Nick and Russ were great to work with, and I really appreciated their friendly and down-to-earth approach. Nick made himself available for my many questions, his wife was a huge help when it came to making design decisions, and both Nick and Russ were always open to brainstorm ideas for practicality. Jan helped me avoid mistakes with her many years of experience of what does and doesn't work in a kitchen. She is extremely knowledgeable and has a keen attention to detail. Jan is also committed to everything being right. She came back to my house to meet with my installer, to ensure he fully understood the kitchen design. She responds to emails and calls quickly, and is patient in answering questions. When one of our cabinet doors didn't look perfect, she replaced it. Brian customized the cabinets to fit the space. Because the area for the vanity was not as deep as standard Sektion cabinet, Brian had to trim the pull drawers. This isn't one of the nationwide chain closet companies that expect you to work within their own parameters; this is actually a custom-designed closet. Barry truly listened to what I wanted, then submitted his designs and invited me to his showroom where we worked together to modify the plan until it was perfect. His innovative suggestions and willingness to consider even the craziest ideas resulted in a small walk-in closet resembling a high-end boutique. Oh, it wasn't simply the closet that he built.
