Established in 1954, nearly 25,000 citizens are laid to rest here including the cemetery grounds and the large mausoleums. There are dedicated areas for Masons, Jews and Veterans. I had the opportunity to walk the grounds and was pleased. It's in excellent condition with much history. Several sports stars, politicians and yes, the director of several famous adult films. My father passed a few weeks ago and my family called Horizon Funeral Home. Since my dad wanted to be cremated, we needed a crematorium, prayer cards, and help publishing his obituary. When the owner, Frank Ryan, first arrived at my mother's home, he seemed friendly, understanding, and fully capable of meeting our needs. Unfortunately, almost as soon as he cashed her check, the problems began. We were informed that Dad's ashes would not be ready for two weeks -- long past our memorial services. Then, when the ashes were ready, Frank asked my mother to drive the 30 minutes to his funeral home to pick them up. Although he did eventually concede to deliver the ashes, his employee dropped them at the door in a cardboard box inside of a shopping bag. Because Frank is unfamiliar with the computer software used by his employees to create the prayer cards, it took three days of emails to get accurate proofs. In fact, the cards were not printed until the afternoon before the memorial service -- and even then, I was forced to interrupt a family luncheon and commandeer the restaurant's computer to approve the final layout. Frank told me that, without that approval, we would have no prayer cards. As for the obituaries, although Frank said he called the newspapers we had requested, we were forced to followup with the papers ourselves in order to pay for the space and to be sure the obituaries ran in time for the services. One of the main reasons you engage a funeral director is for assistance at what might be one of the most difficult times in your life. Frank Ryan and Horizon Funeral Home did not help, and, in fact, made those few days even more stressful. I hope that the readers of this review will spread the word, because I really don't want others to suffer through this same experience.

My wife flew back that day and along with my parents who used to own/operate a funeral home for many years themselves went with to make final arrangements for her Veteran father. Everybody at Mullins could not have been more knowledgeable, compassionate, caring and professional. When I dropped off my father in laws clothing for his viewing they were insightful of everything we needed right down to his eyeglasses. When we had his final viewing, we again had exceptional compassionate care, service and privacy. They were very affordable and handled all the extra veteran needs to include draping an American Flag. During the viewing there was a severe thunderstorm and brief power outages, but everyone was in good hands. We aren't done yet. My father in law will be cremated and his ashes returned to us as soon as his physician signs off on the death certificate. We anticipate a smooth transition of my father in law and his ashes this next week. We would not hesitate to refer Mullins in family, friends and clients times of need. They were very respectful and deserve 10 stars.

Each contained a helpful assortment of items including a redwood-like container (urn), as well as an excellent book with planning details. Everything was so well organized. If one of us passes away in another state or even overseas, all arrangements to care for the involved are covered, to return that individual back home. Quality: It's not easy to convey the importance of their quality every step of the way. During our session with Melissa, licensed funeral director Ann introduced herself, which was a nice moment. Value: Everyone has to make up their mind at some point regarding these decisions. To leave these difficult plans to your heirs and your loved ones in my opinion is not the best option.
