I reported this to the business office, and in ten minutes an officer came to my door, listened to my answers to his questions, and promised surveillance of the area that night to be sure the prowler isn't still lurking. Bravo! 5/5 star response!

Some time during the early evening tonight a dishonest person came up into our personal space and stole our bike - very frustrating and leaves you with a sense of violation. Well, we immediately called the Cape Coral Police Dept. to report the incident. Within minutes ( 3-5 minutes ) we had the first patrolman arrive - Officer Ryan Mahon. Within 5 more minutes there were several members of the SW 4 Police Division on the scene to listen to our situation and description of our bike. They quickly formulated a plan through excellent communication and began a searching sweep for our missing E-Bike. The results - they apprehended the culprit and we received our bike back within 2 hours - TWO HOURS. This is incredibly AWESOME, we cannot thank everyone involved enough for the professionalism and teamwork that we demonstrated. It was indeed a pleasure and an honor to have been treated with such kindness and respect. Thanks to all the Officers and Staff that helped solve our case - ASAP - They Kicked Ass ! We do not believe that we would have had this type of support and outcome back in Indiana. Happy that the Cape Coral Police Department had our backs and yours too ! The Hearnes

I had to deal with her again and she made it a very hard time, but I was able to get what I needed done. I just recently went back in there today after talking with them on the phone multiple times I was told that I just needed to come in and sign a piece of paperwork and pay $32 and I was good to go. She then proceeds to do everything in her power to stop me from being able to do. My transaction tells me that I have to go get a court order proven ownership. Meanwhile, I called beforehand and they never said anything about that and she would not let the other lady who was the lady actually helping me issue my license plate because according to only her I need to go get a court order proving ownership which is absolute crazy. She is an awful lady. You'll know exactly who I'm talking about if you ever go there. You give a miserable person the tiniest bit of power they start abusing it

Check-in was efficient and there was only 1 person in line ahead of me for the same thing, so I was in and out within 15 minutes. Employees were pleasant and efficient. Some will say you have to make an appointment, others say just walk in, but most will say that you will wait for hours either way. As new residents, we needed to get new FL DL's, transfer the car title to our new FL address and get new car tags (current IL tags expire July 31) so I went on-line to the Tax Collector portal to book an appointment. My closest service center had no openings until August - not good! I did see an opening at the end of July at the Downtown office so I booked it. One of the requirements to transfer the title is to have FL car insurance as out of state does not count, so I just finished setting that up. Rather than wait for my appointment and possibly have something go wrong, I grabbed our documentation and we headed to the Tax Collector as walk-ins. We got to the Merchants Crossing office at 2:00 and were told that no more walk-ins allowed for today as they were booked, so we headed downtown. No problem parking right at their building. Followed the signs to the check-in counter and just one person in front of us. Maybe 1 minute later we were being taken care of by a very nice lady. She checked some of our documents and as we were both getting new licenses, we each had a customer ticket number. Before we could sit down, our phones had text messages welcoming us to the center and what our ticket number was. Maybe we were there five minutes and my wife's number was called. Another text message telling us what window to go to. We got to the window and they said they would do us both right in that same area. We had a slight documentation issue which a supervisor helped us resolve. The ladies helping us were great. Personable and efficient. We both got our new licenses and they set us up for priority at the license plate and title window. Maybe another minute or two wait and we were called to the license plate window. Another very nice lady took care of that business and we were on our way. Maybe we were lucky and went at the right time. We don't really care. We completed our mission quickly with the help of some very nice people. This will be our go to office from here out. Thanks ladies! And then another text with a survey on customer satisfaction. Right on!

The bridge got it's name because it is half way between the Cape Coral Bridge to the south and the Caloosahatchee Bridge to the north. County Road 884 runs over the bridge. On the Ft. Myers side the road is called Colonial Boulevard and it is named Veterans Parkway on the Cape Coral Side where there is a statue of six U.S. Marines raising the American flag at the Battle of Iwo Jima to your left when you exit the bridge. Creating a second bridge between Fort Myers and Cape Coral was first proposed in the 1970's and it immediately met with controversy. Those in favor of the bridge in Cape Coral thought it was needed to allow people to reach jobs and shopping while those in Fort Myers who opposed it feared the bridge would destroy neighborhoods and bankrupt businesses. After fighting about the bridge for twenty years, construction on the bridge began in 1995 and the bridge opened for traffic on October 19, 1997. The cost of the bridge was one hundred and seventy five million dollars. Lee County hopes to have the bridge paid off by 2035. In the decades after the bridge opened many of the fears were proven unfounded and the bridge served to unite the communities of fort Myers and Cape Coral. The bridge offers more driving options and less traffic for travelers between the two cities. The bridge is owned by the Lee County Department of Transportation. There is currently a two dollar toll in effect for westbound vehicles only, no toll for eastbound traffic. Florida's statewide SunPass prepaid electronic toll collection system is accepted on the Midpoint Bridge along with Lee County's Leeway prepaid toll system.
