They give me a detailed explanation of each procedure and what to expect which puts my mind at ease. They really do stress preemptive care and proper oral hygiene to AVOID serious problems. They genuinely care and want you to have the best dental health. If all they cared about was money I don't think they would do that. The reviews from customers saying they are greedy couldn't be more off. Its probably more like that the customers were not educated on their own insurances or have failed to pay in the past.

After the procedure, she noticed that floss was constantly getting stuck between her teeth near the filling. We called the office and scheduled a follow-up appointment so the dentist could correct the issue. When my mother returned to the office today, she explained that she was there because the filling needed to be fixed. Since English is not her first language, I was helping translate over the phone. Instead of listening to her concerns, Dr. Pickworth became noticeably rude and was not gentle while examining her. I even had to ask her to please be careful and gentle with my mother, who is an elderly woman with medical conditions and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. What should have been a simple adjustment became unnecessarily complicated. The dentist wanted to take additional X-rays and perform procedures that my mother did not feel comfortable with. Rather than addressing the original issue, the situation became increasingly tense. A front desk employee named Jennifer was brought in to translate. Unfortunately, she was not accurately communicating what my mother was saying and even told my mother that she was offending the dentist. How is a patient offending a dentist by asking for a recently completed filling to be fixed? The situation became even more upsetting when my mother became frightened by a large dental instrument that was being placed in her mouth. She felt pain and discomfort and removed it because she was scared and wanted to take a picture of it. At that point, the dentist became visibly angry, and several additional staff members entered the room. My mother felt intimidated, overwhelmed, and unsafe. No patient should ever feel ganged up on, especially an elderly person who is simply seeking help for a problem related to recent dental work. My mother felt that she was treated differently because of her accent and language barrier. Instead of receiving compassion and understanding, she was met with hostility. There was also an issue with billing. During the original visit, my mother was told the procedure would cost $130. When it was time to pay, she was charged $158 instead. While the $28 difference is not financially significant to us, honesty and transparency matter. I ultimately had to leave what I was doing and rush to pick up my mother because she was so distressed. The police were called, and I explained the situation because I was deeply concerned about how she was being treated. What is most disappointing is that this entire situation started because my mother returned to have a simple issue corrected. A routine filling adjustment should never turn into such a stressful and humiliating experience. I would strongly encourage anyone with elderly parents or family members who may have language barriers to think carefully before sending them to this office alone. Every patient deserves respect, patience, and professional care, regardless of age, language, or accent.

I found Doctor Pickworth through my health insurance company. I'm a resident of Holmdel and her office was very close by. I had read the office reviews on google and decided I'd give their office a try (once I worked up my bravery). The office is extremely clean (which is a huge plus especially during times of covid-19). The staff? Welcoming, kind, understanding, professional, and never once made me feel badly for letting my teeth go for as long as I had. I expressed I live with anxiety and they were sure to explain every step throughout the process and prior to them doing anything. Pro-tip : I asked to wear the x-ray radiation protector blanket while having my teeth cleaned as it's just like a weighted blanket and helped to calm my nerves. The hygienist, Leann, was so gentle that having my teeth cleaned was almost a pleasure. She is very detailed in her work and no stone (or tooth, as it were) was left unturned. Doctor Pickworth is very kind, understanding, and thorough. I went to see her a day before my cleaning for a consultation. Because of the state of my teeth, I will need to have several procedures done and, oddly enough, I'm almost looking forward to them. If you have any fear or reservations no matter the reason, I would highly recommend going to Doctor Pickworth and her staff at Advanced Dental. They will put your mind at ease and get you started on the path to a healthy smile.

Dr. Champagne and his team are extremely professional, personable and very customer focused. Their office team is very organized and work with my insurance seamlessly - makes it easy for me as it gets complicated. Most importantly, both he and Inga (his collegaue) ,have a very delicate working style which is rare from my experience- I learned the hard way. He started working on the cavity as normal, then all of a sudden, he told me that I needed a root canal. This was going to cost a lot more money, and he started shoving papers in front of me to sign. Now I'm basically stuck at this point, he and technicians really pressured me into signing some paperwork so he could perform a root canal which I honestly think was completely unnecessary. It was probably the worst dental experience of my entire life. I have never had a root canal before, nor have I ever had one since. Now there's a dead tooth in my mouth, which has been a source of misery for me ever since that day. I would not trust this guy to give you an honest evaluation, and highly suspect that he basically cons people into having expensive and completely unnecessary dental work. I kick myself for not taking him to court. I only hope this review saves some other people from having unnecessary dental procedures performed by this swindler.

My goal was simple: get a full set of X-rays, have my teeth examined, and receive a routine cleaning that is covered by my dental insurance. After my exam and X-rays, I was told that they recommended a deep cleaning instead of a regular cleaning. I was quoted approximately $1,200 out of pocket because my insurance would not cover the recommended treatment. While I appreciate that providers can recommend additional treatment when they believe it's necessary, I respectfully declined because I simply could not justify that expense. Since they couldn't fit me in for a cleaning that day, I returned the following day expecting to receive the routine cleaning covered by my insurance. Instead, I was told they would not perform a regular cleaning because they were not comfortable doing so unless I agreed to the deep cleaning. That left me completely frustrated. As a patient, I sought preventive care. I took time off, made the appointments, completed the examination and X-rays, and made the effort to be proactive about my dental health. Being refused a basic cleaning after declining an expensive treatment plan felt incredibly disappointing. I'm not a dentist, so I'm not questioning their clinical judgment if they genuinely believed a deep cleaning was medically necessary. However, from a patient perspective, the experience felt like I was given an all-or-nothing choice: either agree to a costly procedure or receive no cleaning at all. Whether that was the intention or not, that's certainly how it came across. The communication throughout the process also left a lot to be desired. Had I been informed upfront that declining the deep cleaning recommendation would mean they would refuse to perform any cleaning, I could have saved myself two trips, time away from work, and a great deal of frustration. What bothers me most is that I actually wanted to take care of my teeth. There are many people who wish they had dental insurance or access to dental care. I have insurance, I showed up for my appointments, and I was ready to receive preventive treatment that my plan covers. Instead, I walked away without any cleaning at all. The entire experience left me feeling that my time, my effort, and my commitment to my own health were not respected. Patients deserve clear communication, transparency about their options, and to feel that their concerns are heard--not pressured into a treatment they cannot afford. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this office. I left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and no better off than when I walked in. I will be taking my dental care elsewhere and would encourage others to ask detailed questions before scheduling, especially if they are hoping to receive a routine cleaning through their insurance. I also spoke with the office manager, Marina Montalvo, hoping she could help resolve the situation or at least provide an alternative solution.
