This place is a great example of atrocious customer service. The fact that I am willing to take time out of my life to write a review is a testament to how absolutely wretched Lee's Self Storage is. Tom T's review is an accurate description of the half-assed manner this company, its manger and its owner employs when interacting with paying customers. I was under the impression I would have 24 hour access to my storage unit. I was not informed that I might need to bring my own salt, snowshoes, cleats and other equipment to make my way across a sheet of ice (IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY) to access said storage space. Stay away unless you enjoy frustration. In plain speak: Lee's stinks. Oh! Lee and I had worked out an arrangement for money/storage use for bringing in new customers, first he went back on the monetary end of our agreement, then he went back on his bartering of the storage space. The problem with that is he never called, he just threw a lock on the storage unit with my stuff in it! when I went to see him about this mix up, to my dismay I found he had put the locked it on purpose. When I asked him why he never called before locking the unit to give me a chance to remove my stuff since he apparently changed his mind on letting me use the storage unit. First he said "you never come around, so I didn't know who was using the unit" [a lie] I said, I had been in the same unit for 4 years, his wife [Rose] set me up in that unit, and keeping track of who was using what unit was not my responsibility, but now that he did know who's stuff was in the unit, the lock should come off. He acted as if I was the one that had done something wrong, saying I had had the storage unit long enough and "if you want your stuff back, how much are you willing to pay for it?" Basically what he was doing here was not just going back on his agreement, but he wanted to go back on it retroactively, now demanding rent for past months/years, he apparently felt he shouldn't have let me use the unit for, using my stuff and past trust as leverage now to force me to pay for years of rent I didn't owe. While I didn't think I would have the unit indefinably, I though Lee would at least give me notice. But instead, he used my stuff to try to make moneys not owed to him, and he knew it. I'm an easy going guy, if he decided to end the free storage, fine, but don't steal my stuff. Since this was all setup by word and a hand shake, I knew I didn't have much to stand on, that and since there wasn't that much left in the unit, [I was trying to empty it and give it back to him] I decided not to start legal action, but be fore warned Lee is not an honorable man, as a company, they treat their help like rented mules, their customers like dirt, the service is poor, and given half a chance, they will rip you off. I think years ago when I first met Lee he was a good guy, but the money and years have changed him, now that's all he's about, money. Don't use Lee's for self storage. It's a filthy place and the customer service is a nightmare. They refused to clear ice at the entryway to the units and when I asked for help the nasty girl ( Debbie?) half-heartedly threw down two Dixie cups of salt and walked away. When I asked her what if one of us happens to fall, she replied " sue the owner" and walked away. When the rude, arrogant aforementioned owner was informed of this he backed his employee up and claimed he couldn't control the weather. Neither can I, but I cleared the ice from my house to prevent falls...I didn't want want to do it either, "Lee" (or whatever your name is). We returned three days later and found the problem remained. We moved our junk then and there risking a fall with a determination to sue if we fell-regardless of the extent of injury. Lee's is a nightmare. Highly disappointed. Stay away. I gave it one star because I had to. Lee's. Please. read more
