Run away! The staff has nothing but dollar signs in their eyes. They present their price list and if you change the topic, they bring it back out to be sure you know you'll have to pay more to discuss a secondary issue. They WILL NOT provide an itemized receipt for self pay clients; you have to sign an statement agreeing to that. If you are part of a cost-sharing plan, they will not help you in any way. I guess they won't make enough profit if they print out a 2-pg itemized statement rather than a 1-pg general receipt. The dollar is king and the client is a nuisance. read more

My daughter had her mole removed last November. The stitches opened an it keloid. Until now, her wound is sensitive and painful to touch. She was seen by Katie in February after we complained about wound still not heal and painful. She made a comment that she doesn't understand why the dermatologist keep using the type of sutures/ stitching she used to my daughter which doesn't dissolve. What a small mole which turned out to be non cancererous is not a very big ugly scar at the back of my daughter. read more

I called and wanted to get a full body check as I had a friend recently get diagnosed with melanoma. They were scheduled several months out. I took the first available appointment. When I arrived the staff in the office was friendly, but when I called back totally different experience. I was seeing Dr. Linh Nguyen. Her nurse was very rude and so was she. The first thing said to me is why are you here do you have a spot or something? I said Well i wanted to get checked out I have a few spots on my legs. I heard the nurse speaking with the Doctor and the doctor said why is she even here I don't have time for this today. She then bursted in my room and said I dont have time for a full body check or I will be behind what do you need? I was so offput I didnt know what to say. My friends all went to Cornerstone and had a much more pleasant experience. This doctor is very rude and high on her horse. I wouldnt recommend that experience to anyone. read more

Unfriendly desk staff was not great but people can have bad days... then I was rushed out the door without getting to ask questions I had with my dermatologist. Was in and out in less than ten minute. I want to understand if new growths are cancer and how to address some scalp skin conditions. Feel like the dermatology appointments must make them less money than the spa or they are not being accurate in their medical billing. Can't recommend this establishment. read more

The office staff is often unfriendly and rude. I have had this happen more times than not. The doctor is very qualified, and personable, once you get to see him, but that is sometimes not easy. You almost always have to see a nurse practitioner first, which most often takes the place of seeing the doctor. That experience was fine, but the time spent in the appointment is very brief. They schedule their appointments really close together, so you must really stay on task regarding why you are there. If you decide to ask about something else, at times you are told you need to make another appointments. If after a procedure you want to call back and speak with the doctor, you will have to talk to several people, explaining in detail why you want to talk to the doctor, before you get to talk to him, if ever. His staff keeps him so well insulated that getting back to him in person, on the phone, is almost impossible. I am so sad all of this is the case, because it has caused me to find a different doctor. read more

Twice I had appointments. Twice they got cancelled the day of and they want me to rebook for several weeks out. They made no attempt to fit me in with someone else. Third appt was booked over three months out (first available), cancelled bc of Covid. She wanted me to reschedule (ok, Covid I understand rescheduling), she wanted me to wait another three months. She guaranteed my appointment wouldn't get cancelled. When I mentioned I had been cancelled on twice she hung up. Very unprofessional. The staff, besides Dr. McEwen, are ridiculously rude and uninformed on several prescription processes. I had so many problems with communication and honestly am very disappointed. When I moved back North, Dr. McEwen came highly recommended by my dermatologist in Jefferson City. McEwen was very friendly and asked lots of questions. There was no record of my information that I had transferred at the beginning of the year, but the front desk was very helpful so hopefully this will be fixed soon. read more

Was very disappointed in the service and the cost I experienced at Lees Summit Dermatology. I called first and made an appointment after I was told of the cost I was told that for the removal of 10 skin tags it would be $100.00 so I assumed $10.00 a piece right. Well I ended up at 11 skin tags removed. When I approached the front desk for payment I was told the cost was $200.00 because I went over the 10 skin tag removal. Okay well what could I do maybe I didn't hear the charges correctly. So I paid the bill I didn't cause a situation. Left thinking I just would never go back and then about a month later I got a bill for $116.00 for an office visit that was never mentioned to me at any time. I argued this point till I was blue in the face I have contacted the better business bureau. They wrote off $49.00 and reduced the bill to $66.00 and some change. If I had the money I would legally challenge this whole operation. I feel I was mislead from the beginning and then followed up with a sneaky after charge that the only recourse is not paying and having your credit tarnished. I saw the PA, Linh Nguyen, for what was thought to be medication-induced hair loss. From the moment she entered the room, when she saw that I still had hair, she decided there was nothing wrong with m--thst my hair loss was "normal" - - and spent the entire appt dismissing my concerns. SHE NEVER EVEN EXAMINED MY SCALP AND BECAUSE OF THIS MISSED VERY OBVIOUS SIGNS OF AN AUTOIMMUNE DISORDER (confirmed by a biopsy done by another dermatologist). HER NEGLIGENCE CAUSED A VERY SIGNIFICANT DELAY IN GETTING TREATMENT AND RESULTED IN PERMANENT AND IRREVERSIBLE HAIR LOSS! This would not have happened had she bothered to examine my scalp like she should have! read more

I had called to see what the cost would be to have skin tags removed. They told me $100 for up to 10, so I scheduled an appointment. When I checked in I again verified with the gal up front that it would be $100 for up to 10 and she said yes minus my $50 copay. After 50 minutes, they finally called me back. The nurse asked me why I was there and I told her. She informed me that it was $100 for 4. I explained to her what I was told and she basically just said it's 4 for $100. The doctor walks in and I tell her I'm not paying $100 just to have 4 removed. She says ok and leaves. I go up front to complain and all they say is that they had a price increase since I booked the appointment (2 weeks) and since I didn't have it in writing they wouldn't honor that price even though the gal up front admitted she told me it was $100 for 10. They wouldn't even give me back my $50 deductible. A waste of $50 and one hour and a half of my time for absolutely nothing. read more

I called to set up a new appointment because I have a skin spot I am concerned about. With potential cancer spots you should be seen soon the scheduling lady said it would be about 4-5 weeks. I told her I have a spot I am concerned about and she said "well I can't see it so I can't tell you if you need to be seen sooner." Dermatology side is great!! Med Spa manager and office manager are horrendous! I will never refer a friend or return to the med spa!

My family and I have been going here for about 10 years. Spent Thousands of Dollars at the med spa and dermatologist. Went today and was treated like I was a criminal. My son drove home from college and I took off work to go with him to a long awaiting appt with Dr. McEwen to be rudely treated in front of everyone in the lobby and told that we could not see the doctor unless we paid a $90 copay that we do NOT owe. Tried to explain to the front desk and then to the very hateful billing person, Katie that our deductible was met months ago due to my son's surgery and that United insurance has told me to have doctor's offices call to verify no copay needed but Katie refused. I offered to call United for them, Katie refused. Tried to explain my son here from school, etc., Katie didn't care. Tried to explain my family has been coming here for years, Katie didn't care. Never been treated like this in my life. I have even referred friends and family here but NEVER again. If this is how they treat an established patient, can't imagine how they would treat a new one. Now hearing from others on Facebook they've had very similar experiences with the office staff at LS Dermatology. They won't let you talk to Dr. McEwen if you call so who knows if he even knows this is how his office is being handled. Looking for a new office and doctor that appreciated patients and has the decency and courtesy to treat their patients with respect and do what's right. read more
