We have enjoyed their produce at the the farmers market, so getting to the source is next-level. If you're there for strawberries, then just know that the patch is wayyyyyy in the back. You can hitch a ride on one of the tractor-pulled carts or hoof it yourself, just through the play areas and up the gentle slope. Berries are poppin' in May, so getcha a box and get to hunting! Hot tip: the best berries seem to be in the middle. A flat box runs you $0.75 and the berry price is a bit over $5/lb. If you just can't stop picking, then you'll fill a flat quickly and you're rewarded with maybe $40 worth of strawberry goodness. These berries are so worth it! Clean, sweet, and just ripe for the picking! Gieringers does other berries (blackberries, blueberries, etc.) but those are best picked well into the summer. The service is awesome, whether it's help with parking or a lift to & from the berry patch, the staff is always helpful and easy to find. Great enterprise and great fun!

Yelp found Fahrmeier's Farm and a quick visit to their website informed me that blackberry season had just opened! Well who doesn't like blackberries? So off we go, ready to go pick some fruit on the way to the Battle of Lexington State Historic Park. Super friendly girl came out to greet us and escorted us to a row of blackberries that she said were especially delicious. She showed us how to pick them, twist not pull, and then off we were! These blackberries were the largest berries I have ever seen! A few were as long as my thumb. They were bursting with sweet juiciness. I couldn't help eating one or two during the picking process, but they all looked so good. I'm pretty sure I picked all of the best ones... lol... ok not really, but had a whole tray at the end of going down one row and back up the other side. All those berries cost less than $20 too! I think the total was like $17 and change for about 4-5 lbs at $3.99/lb. Everyone in the little market was friendly and they had a few things for sale there from their farm, fresh eggs, ginormous tomatoes (seriously, huge,like 3-4 lbs) and various other things including cold drinks. You end up with an open tray of berries in a bag that only covers half, so be careful driving with them. But I had the best time being a city gal in the country and seeing cute goats and birds flying around. I had some berries on my cereal this morning and omg so delicious - seriously the best I've ever had. My bf doesn't think I can eat all the ones I picked. Watch me.

We arrived early to beat the crowds, and it was definitely worth it. Parking seems much improved thanks to expanded lots and additional street parking throughout the surrounding area. The busiest stop by far was Nitchals Farm, where nearly 25 people were already lined up at 7:30 a.m. waiting for homegrown tomatoes and fresh produce. Not wanting to miss out (a little FOMO never hurts!), we joined the line ourselves. While we waited, several people couldn't stop talking about how good their tomatoes are, so it felt like we made the right choice. Another favorite was Bazaar Spice, which offers an impressive selection of spices available by the scoop or in bottles. We picked up two bottles for $15 and chose the Italian Blend and Salsa Blend, both of which smelled amazing. Every vendor we visited was welcoming and friendly, and there was an incredible variety of high-quality products throughout the market. It's easy to see why this has become such a popular community destination. We're already looking forward to making it part of our weekly summer routine. When I go older and had my own kids, I told them how much I used to love picking apples with my family. I tried to look up Stephenson's and saw they had closed. After a quick google search, I found Sunflower Orchard and was glad it wasn't too far of a drive. When we arrived, I will admit I was a bit disappointed by the size of the trees. I was hoping for large trees that the kids would have to climb up to get. The disappointment was short-lived because as soon as I tasted their fuji apple I was so excited to try other varieties. We grabbed a couple bags and went to explore their orchard and discovered some new varieties. Our favorites were the ultragold and winecrisp. There was a candy crisp that the kids also liked. I would highly recommend everyone to add Sunflower Orchard to their list of fall traditions!
