The busiest stop by far was Nitchals Farm, where nearly 25 people were already lined up at 7:30 a.m. waiting for homegrown tomatoes and fresh produce. Not wanting to miss out (a little FOMO never hurts!), we joined the line ourselves. While we waited, several people couldn't stop talking about how good their tomatoes are, so it felt like we made the right choice. Another favorite was Bazaar Spice, which offers an impressive selection of spices available by the scoop or in bottles. We picked up two bottles for $15 and chose the Italian Blend and Salsa Blend, both of which smelled amazing. Every vendor we visited was welcoming and friendly, and there was an incredible variety of high-quality products throughout the market. It's easy to see why this has become such a popular community destination. We're already looking forward to making it part of our weekly summer routine. It is extremely picturesque with the monuments and the original storefront facades of the shops and museums on all sides. The market has lots of local produce and plants from northland farms. It also has vendors with locally produced finished goods such as preserves, honey, and lots of breads and pastries. Thrown in is the occasional vendor selling handmade goods such as dog treats, jewelry, coasters... Not as large or varied as Kansas City or Overland Park markets but just as worthy of a visit for it's pleasant scenery and other things to see and do within the neighborhood.

It is sponsored by Beans and Greens (which is where I discovered the market), and is open Tuesday from 3:00 P. M. to 7;00 P.M. and, it is open on Sunday from 10:00 A. M. to 2;00 P.M., June through September. I visited it today (for tomatoes, which I found and bought 4 for $3.00.). Also available were a variety of squash, okra, corn, and a few other fresh, hand picked vegetables. I wish it had been a larger farmer's market, but I'm glad it was available. There were 3 vendors, 2 with vegetables, one with cheap carnival type jewelry. The people I bought the tomatoes from grew them in their yard, and live in Buckner. The second booth had loads more tomatoes, and seemed more commercial. I chose the smaller booth. It wasn't very occupied today (probably due to the heat?) , and that is why the 3 stars. It is cool cause apparently, the Beans and Greens program matches $2 for $1, which means, if you spend $1.00, you get $2.00 worth of food, if you use an EFT card. Now I will warn you, if you are picturing the Northland's answer to River Market, stop now! This is a much smaller market with just a handful of vendors, two produce stands, two baked goods, salsa, and even a homemade curries served hot! I was highly impressed with how much was offered in such a small space! The baked goods were devine, try the citrus shortbread! Although the GF baked good table is also well worth the trip. You know how most gluten free items taste like cardboard? These don't! The muffins taste like muffins, the bread is soft like bread and the snozzberries taste like... nevermind you get the point! Really enjoyed the homemade salsa, in four different varieties of heat! BRING IT! Unique local produce offered, hello wild blackberries and green cauliflower! But the best part for me was visiting Kafa, a woman who really should have her own restaurant and who's mango curry chicken could cause a serious addition! She serves a variety of foods from her homeland still warm and really should be your regular Tuesday night dinner stop!
