The amount of lack of consideration for fellow campers is horrendous. There is no one on site to call to ask for reinforcements of the rules. It's currently midnight and I hear people singing across the park. Our neighbors have finally gone to bed or moved to another campsite. The speed of golf carts and those of little kids driving them is crazy. This is a great place if you want to party but if you are looking for quiet peaceful decompression DON'T come here. You'll be even more stressed out.

The island has a platform where several flagpoles are located surrounded by stone benches with a map on the ground in the center. Even though these structures are falling into disrepair with the map coming up off the ground and a few benches crumbling, it possess a certain charm with it's metal structural supports for the roof structure (above the benches) and breathtaking views. After a late lunch, we made our way to Lake Charles Veteran's Memorial Park. There are several lots close to the park so parking shouldn't be an issue. After parking, we discovered that there are actually several parks adjacent to each other including Bord du Lac Park and the Lakefront Promenade. We ended up walking through all of them. What stands out about the Veteran's Memorial Park is the statues commemorating veterans. And it's more than that! You even have a full-size tank so there are plenty of photo opps. I wanted to climb on top of the tank but there was a sign saying that wasn't allowed so I was good. It's a small park but one that's worth checking out along with the others in the area.

This Park is set right next to the Lake Charles Lake, if that makes sense. There is a long brick walkway right along the water, very scenic. I got in a few runs here while I was visiting. This is a super…read moreclean and newly renovated park that is conveniently located across the street from the Courthouse and Police Department. It also backs up to a very bad part of town which really concerned me. But on a sunny Thursday in August at 1pm it felt safe, was pretty empty and relatively clean (except for some food trash). They have tandem mother/baby swings, a handicap swing, a large play set safe for an able-bodied 3 year old and lots of grass. I would visit again! The pool was surrounded by a chainlink fence and staffed with a lifeguard. Just a few children getting their swimming lessons.

We saw the Magnolia Plantation featured on a favorite show of ours and had to see for ourselves when headed back home to Texas. Simple place yet incredibly interesting. We couldn't have picked a better day to visit the area, the temperature was perfect with low humidity and no bugs - you must allow yourself plenty of time to soak in the peaceful surroundings and get out of your vehicle to get up close to the wonders of this garden. Besides the beautiful grounds and water structures there are plenty of surprises you'll discover along the way we unfortunately didn't see any alligators or deer today but there were an abundance of birds, a few turtles basking in the sun and lots of squirrels scurrying through the grounds and giant oak trees. This is a beautiful place and just one of the wonders you'll find while exploring Louisiana I've lived in Louisiana for almost half my life and I'm still amazed at the beauty this state has to offer this is just one of the many places that's preserved and protected for generations to enjoy and appreciate...

The RV parking spots are level with lots of privacy. The showers and restrooms are nice and clean. They have a private boat launch and two docks if you prefer fishing from shore. The owner, Angie, is so nice. They greet each camper personally to ensure you are settled. I'm coming back, for sure!
