Left Bank Books is one of the coziest and most welcoming bookshops in the area. They have a huge selection of all kinds of books and topics along with puzzles and other bookish stuff too! They have the cutest shop kitty who knows where they belong too. Everyone is always so friendly and ready to help you find your next good read!

I am obsessed with left bank books. They have such a wide selection and some books even big chains don't have. The environment is so inviting and every worker is so helpful. Everything is very organized so you can find what you are looking for. I loved the used book section in the basement. There were so many good options at AMAZING prices. I found a newly released book that's been on my tbr for only $9 and nearly perfect condition. This is going to be my go to book store

Such a fun stop if you're looking for an Indie book store to support while you're in St. Louis! We mainly hung out in their fab children's section, but their adult area looked awesome too and I like that they have a used nook downstairs too.

Indie bookstore with a vast selection of books. I think there's something for everyone here. Staff seemed to be available without being pushy. I enjoyed browsing and just checking out everything the store had to offer.

Finally! I have conquered and saw the famous left bank books. I love this place! From the moment I stepped in I was greeted with a vibrant hello which is always a plus in my book. I also love how they have a shelf solely dedicated to new released books. My favorites spot was downstairs that has ab area dedicated for used books. The prices on them are reasonable as well. Will definitely be back to support. As always until next time...

Friendly staff, great vibe, more than books. We bought books, stickers and T-shirts, which had a very cool design. Look forward to returning.

I have been coming here for years. It is truly a staple in the community. A place that makes you feel good about shopping local. The staff have always been helpful and I appreciate the innovative offerings, such as events and the most recent thing I saw of a "mystery book" in a brown paper bag.

Perfect little bookstore on the corner of a quaint area of shops. Especially loved the creaking floors, the staff recommendations, the basement of used books, and the endearing staff who were personable and warm. Excited to find a book that called out to me, my favorite way to experience a bookstore. Delightful place to spend some time.

Super cute progressive bookshop that has a lot of Black cat themes (always a plus). They have a wide variety of books and cute tchotchke's that you'll love (like social justice cards; I got two). They even have a section for free stuff like Plan B and condoms -- I'm all for sexual liberation!

This place is a great book store for everything you're looking for in a book. They have books from all genres! I was looking at their staff picks and their weekly highlighted books and they have a great mix of fiction and nonfiction from customers to choose one. They also have some great history, poems, self help, parental and an amazing section of children's books. Everyone is asking for books rather than cards for baby showers and this is a great spot to find the perfect baby book! Great spot to spend a while and find that perfect book you've been looking for.

I could spend hours wandering this shop reading the staff recommendations and toiling over how many books I'll buy. It's a cozy neighborhood shop with everything from notecards and silly socks to children's books and classics. They also buy & sell used books.

This bookstore was amazing. I loved looking at the amazing displays, and the employees were helpful and very nice. The overall collection was varied and interesting. The used section downstairs were not to be missed. Oh yea, did I mention the CAT?!? This place was a dream.

Love this timeless CWE book store. Best gifts and unique artsy accessories, relevant books, plus political awareness, activism and community outreach and support. You are often given a mask as you enter during times of high community spread of illness, so they care deeply about you and others. Nice! Always classy, always well stocked, always great customer service and flair. If they don't have it, they will get it for you. No clueless employees here: they are well read and knowledgeable about many authors and the store itself. Checkout is a breeze and a study in teamwork among the staff. Buy all your reading and gifts here! Oh and they have a bookstore cat, which is an added cool bonus! Love it here...

Great collection of books!…read more Will return again when I have more time to browse and find treasures.

Ever be of two minds about a place…read more One, you really want to like them, but then Two... knowing they're usually NOTHING like what their store title promises you? The second part is my problem with "Half Priced Books". (At least the one just off of 170. I swear I've been to their other location but remember absolutely zilch about them overall (not a good sign for writing reviews, I know.)). I've already seen other reviews who have pointed out "DO NOT SELL YOUR BOOKS" here.. and I understand every one of those reviewers. I overheard some offers for some -standard- books and .. I get making money and reselling, but no, this deal sounded like highway robbery. Not sounding too good so far, huh? or maybe I'm just a crotchety old man who hates seeing good books get ignored just cause they're not in our "market" today. Now: I will say this.. i'm a board game and tabletop roleplaying game fanatic (particularly Palladium books), and this is one of the FEW places that ever have what I'm looking for in my roleplaying Genre. (Yes, I will buy used books to complete my collection). But let's get back to the complaints: (usually I'm a lot nicer in my reviews, but when you blow it this badly...) Until not too long ago, when i picked up a min-book i needed in which the cover price was $19.95, and someone had to have brought it in and sold it to HPB, and _maybe_ got A buck or 2 for it. HPB Sticker price: $35!!!!! Yes, read that again folks... A "half price" book shop, charging DOUBLE what the original publisher (who was still publishing the book in question, was NOT out of stock, and could be found on their webpage for cover price + s/h). So which is the lie? The price or the name of the shop? Basically a store that lies to sell? 0 Stars... TOTAL. But I will say there are two things that are going in HPB's favor: There are some books there for reasonable prices (I'm an Asimov. Clarke, Heinlein fanatic (basically SciFi) and Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie. And I finally found a couple of copies of the later Foundation series I'd been hunting for, so I had to get them while the getting was good. And then board games: again next to roleplaying games I'm a board game nut! And there are more than a few good used games there, for instance I'm a Trivial Pursuit collector (a small collection, but a collection), and I cannot see putting a near RETAIL price on a board game that's shows itself to be 45 years old, and while in good shape, the container was showing its age. As for DVDs/Vinyl - Plain and simple, (while it's nice to see Vinyl for sale), if they have something you're looking for, again there's a problem in either the name of the store or their selling policy, because everything felt "near retail". (although I guess you can say they're not "Half Price Books & Music".) Take a better chance at a regular or used record store, for the music lovers of the world. So basically as I said at the beginning: Half Priced Books Is a place that I REALLY want to like them (and do have a couple of good points, (softback books and board games) but how do you give a positive review to a store that completely ignores their own name of their store? Sorry HPB I get the point, but 1 star is all I can bring myself to give you this time around and that's because I usually err on the side of generosity. (Probably because I'm still miffed about the "twice the cover price" book I needed?)
