I'm from the states so the Guinness in Ireland is absolutely something you should have while out here in IE. Kilkenny castle is a walk away from this place. Nice live jazz music covers with proper sound leveling and solid claim chowder and fish and chips done right here. Great place whether you're in the older crew or a college student to bring here and have a pint. Friendly locals, and the corner is at a cross street lets you people watch when positioned at the window. It definitely not a dive bar but you don't need a collared shirt to enjoy it

Great location from the Kilkenny Ormande hotel. Love the ornate decor and staff were friendly! The food my group ordered was quite delicious. The young gals ordered the spicy chicken wings and fries; and we ordered a burger and half chicken, mashed potatoes and salad. All approved with our satisfaction!

Nice pub with plenty of seating. We didn't realize it was seated yourself so we wasted time looking for staff. I was happy to see a cocktail menu since so many places in Ireland seem to favor Guinness and wine. The bogeyman cocktail was good & my husband enjoyed his old fashion. The calamari was good. The place got crowded early on a Saturday evening but service was good.

We decided to try Left Bank as it was time for a break from standard pub grub. The restaurant is very stylish and quirky - the decor is funky yet sublime. My wife and I both ordered the rotisserie half chicken. It was actually very tasty and cooked to perfection. We both enjoyed the Caesar salad as it wasn't over-dressed. The French fries were crisp and served piping hot. Great spot for a casual meal.

Lovely place to relax and get drinks and a bite to eat. The tables by the window are perfect for people watching. Staff is attentitive to allergy needs.

The fish and chips and the cottage pie were excellent and the interior is so cute! We came twice! Friendly and kind service.

The atmosphere was special and the service was polite and professional and helpful. We ordered from the bar menu. I had very good fish and chips (they call it beer battered catch of the day). Most thrilling to me was Guinness 0.0 ON TAP. It was sooo much better than I can get at home in cans. My partner did even better with a hake and polenta dish that was served on top of and surrounded by incredible vegetables. It was gluten free. The desserts were a wonderful climax, especially the (gluten free) creme brulee. Even though Kilkenny is a tourist destination, we paid about the same as we would at home for a very nice dinner out. We checked their restaurant menu and it seemed that main courses start about €10 higher. We didn't eat there; perhaps it's that much more special.

Such a beautiful building and so well kept. Atmosphere is inviting and so comfortable. Food is fresh and delicious. Drink selection is fabulous and you won't be disappointed. The staff is friendly and polite.

3.5/5 stars. the ambiance of the bar was so pretty everything looked old school and had a christmas vibe at the time. the service wasn't great they were a little rude. the food however was so good!

Pretty good food with a lot of options on the menu. Not super busy and staff were nice, although not very attentive. Good for a quick bite or a hearty lunch. I did like the old-timey classic pub decor inside.

Absolutely amazing establishment. Very busy, but plenty of very friendly staff to ensure you had all you needed. Excellent options for food and both the food and drinks were spot on! Being from the states, we loved the wings!

    Bar area.

The beef casserole was delicious and the soups are something special. I had the apple, celeriac, and onion? soup on Saturday and with the brown bread it was awesome.

We stayed in four different cities, and traveled to many more, had lunch or dinner in a variety of pubs, and most, if they had music, were playing 2000's American pop hit junk. Some of those other pubs did have live music schedules for later evening, but we were trying to get our pub experiences at lunch and then 6p-9p range each day so we could get to sleep for the next day's exploring. It's also really nice that this pub is along the water (the river through Kilkenny) and some of the seating overlooks it via window, including open windows if you like. The kitchen closes early here, even on Fridays; 8pm during our June 2026 visit, so plan around that if you are intending to get dinner. Food-wise: * Really enjoyed the beef stew; good price no complaints. * Margherita pizza is great * Caprese Salad is not expensive but pretty mediocre * Seafood Chowder was very good * Tortellini was fine for Ireland Take all the above in context with the overall Irish food scene, which is mostly average at best. These feelings are based on seven days of eating around the country, so when I'm saying the beef stew was really good, that's compared to the rest of Ireland where I had one I liked more and a few others that were not good at all. Drink pricing is on par with other tourist cities; not bad. As with most pubs, beer and liquor selection is limited outside of the extensive Irish Whiskey options. For example, two rums, one bourbon, beers were what we encountered everywhere and no deviation. Service was similar to the rest of Ireland; initial order taking and then you have to flag someone down for anything after that.

We got in and snagged a table in the perfect location. We started off with food. The fish and chips were amazing. The fish wasn't too breaded or oily. The piece of fish was huge! The fresh green onions and homemade tater sauce elevated the dish. We stayed at the pub until Irish music started, which was so good! Hearing the tin whistle, guitar, and beautiful Irish singing was such a treat. We enjoyed a handful of cocktails and Guinness! Very enjoyable night!

The gentlemen playing in my photo were brilliant musicians and very entertaining. The place was packed to the gills and we stood for about an hour of their session until seats up front opened up.
