First time experiencing a balloon festival and take-off. $5 to enter…read more We ended up parking at the school. It was cool to watch the colorful and variety of balloons fill up with air, then use the propane to heat it up. Was really cool to watch many of them take-off. Their trailer and trucks chased them down. There was a small carnival with rides setup, kids zone, arts and crafts and elephant ears and funnel cake and food trucks and much more. The Jack O Lantern basket was a garbage bin. One of the balloon used only a chair for the pilot and no basket. We saw one female pilot, her name is Dawn. The glow and laser light show starts until dark. I imagine the Albuquerque Balloon Festival is even bigger. This was still quite a good smaller scale experience.

A helicopter sight-seeing tour was the way to go! For over a month, I had emailed back and forth with Alan the owner of Magnum Helicopters, and he was more than willing to answer ANY questions I had as a first time flyer. It was an amazing experience, with an amazing perspective on places I've seen thousands of times. I cannot even count how many times I must have said "Wow!" during the flight. Absolutely breathtaking experience!
