My daughter transferred to this school in 8th grade from another school, and the difference has been incredible. From the very beginning, she started coming home happy and excited about her day. She often commented on how much more positive the environment felt, with far less drama and fewer issues than she had experienced before. One of the things that stood out most to her was how kind and respectful the aides were. She also appreciated how supportive her teachers were, always willing to help and accommodate her when she missed lessons. Don't go to this school, the kids are absolutely wild. And, if you don't agree with them they will isolate and jump you. Some teachers were amazing, but others not so much. One teacher told me she rather jump off a cliff than teach my class. Said teacher would growl at students and bark. One amazing teacher was Mrs. Gatzke, and she inspired many students, including me. But, students were ruthless here and they would throw around death threats and tell people to kill themselves. One chased me with stones and tried to hit me with them. read more

This is a great school for anybody that knows they can handle the homework and projects that come with it. It certainly is good at teaching, but may make you stressed with all the work that they throw at you. The teachers and administration are (usually) nice and willing to help you, which is great! The school is challenging in the best way possible, and really help you learn the complexity of math. science, history, etc. Overall, an excellent school for all kids. read more

This place is a joke! They over load the classes, threaten the teachers, and lie to the parents. Teachers walk away from this place all of the time, and the principal won't accept the REALITY that he is responsible for the high quite rates. Instead, he insults the teachers and lays the blame on them. Do not take your kids to this school ... there are far better places. read more

I wish I would've actually considered these reviews before enrolling my child. I had seen these reviews but since they are a couple years old, I had high hopes that things had changed for the better. Unfortunately, this school is an absolute no. I should've known from the fact that it took countless emails and phone calls for them to complete the enrollment, I even brought hard copies of the documents needed and still his enrollment was never completed until the last minute and it was only completed because I pretty much demanded a spot since I had been going through the enrollment process with them for months. I felt as if my child was just another "number" at this school verses actually being shown kindness and invested into. I'm beyond disappointed. read more

We are new to Maricopa. Moved here on May 1st. Today was the second day of school for our kids; kindergartener & 8th grader. I am so pleased and in awe of many things. Everyone is so nice, helpful, communication is huge and they are protective of theirs students from what I see. Loving the driveline and might even suggest it to the school we came from. In our opinion , It is an accelerated program which my son didn't do well in and was asked to move him to another school, which had resources that could help him advance in reading. Legacy is a great school for those who are self reliant and who need NO extra attention from their teacher. This is supposed to be public school open for all children but they reserve the right to ignore and eventually push children out due to academic and behavioral issues if they don't fit the school's vigorous methods. This is a charter school that doesn't cater to creativity, disabilities or anyone outside of their highly structured, eyes forward, bubbles in mouth . They bring your kid into an overcrowded classroom with a student to teacher ratio of 30/1. The child is expected to sink or swim in the overly aggressive curriculum. If you child requires any special attention they would prefer the child not attend their school. Attending the schools curriculum night , you will find out the school teaches specifically to the top of the class .If you child requires any special attention they would prefer the child not attend their school. The teacher my daughter had when she first enrolled here was great. That was in 3rd grade. My daughter is now in 5th grade and we have had issues with the last two teachers. They may be college educated, but they were both first year teachers. My daughter has ADD and requires a strict teacher with experience. What she has had are teachers who don't seem to care or who are overwhelmed with teaching their own class for the first time. My next step is to meet with the principal and discuss my concerns. Legacy has a good reputation as a whole, but this campus seems to be headed down hill. read more

I gave it 1 star, because 0 wasn't a choice. I hate this school. (The last dude that posted hasn't been there since 2011; I know him personally.) DO NOT PUT YOUR CHILDREN IN THIS SCHOOL!! ---They encourage bullying (not only do the children bully, but the parents, teachers, and principals do too). My son dealt with bullying first from the teacher, then from the vice principal, and THEN by the children because they followed by example. ---They broke the law (and continue to do so). I formally requested an IEP in writing; they dismissed it and suspended my son stating that "this isn't the school for him." ... Turns out, a LOT of parents had this discussion with the principal. The school refused to test their children, too. For no reason! I'm not one to sue schools, but I should've sued this one. Seriously. And so should the other parents. ---They teach creationism and nationalism, but AVOID real science! I volunteered a LOT for that school (I was even on the PTO board). The BANNED BOOK SECTION has books on EVOLUTION, astronomy, and biology. And we're not talkin' smutty, inappropriate books here, peeps. We're talking kid-friendly science books with pictures. I'm fairly sure the founding Mormons have a say in what's being at this establishment. ---They have an "A" rating because they kick out the kids that don't perform well. Remember that "this school isn't for him" thing I mentioned? This talk happens with the parents who's children fall below the "average" line (like, C average). They don't help the children. They dismiss the children from the school. They have "the talk" with parents that have children that don't sit still perfectly; who are hands-on learners; who are free thinkers; and who question. ---Everyone gossips. My kids have attended Legacy for four years now and I could not be happier with it. The teachers, aides, principals, and staff go above and beyond for the students. My children have participated in many activities including the musical program, science fair, and many others. My kids are thriving and anywhere they do need help the teachers immediately step in and do what is needed. The principals are always there for any concerns of mine or the kids, and address them correctly and efficiently. I understand Legacy's accelerated program is not for all students, but as for mine they are thriving. Thank You Legacy Maricopa for loving and teaching my kids! read more

This school has a great deal of work to do on its very own internal inconsistencies. It is an awful idea to change policy at winter break . If you choose to have parents in your mission statement then give due diligence to include them and show respect to them. I was finally seeing a school take shape and now it is parents lining up to take their children into the play area and worse expecting them to line up to walk out of the area. We too have schedules to keep and our first responsibility is the safety of our children. This idea was not well thought out or implemented. Staff are often rude and dismissive. Now we are held hostage to a sign out cart and not allowed to leave after kids are in??? Get it together we have no idea how our children do on tests, are not shown what they do wrong so we can do our jobs and are condescended to when we ask. Focus and make your school a welcoming environment where you actually act out your mission statement. read more

Of course you could get your kid into this school. They want as many clients as they can get. That's how the owners have become millionaires. This school has a huge turn over in quality educators and clients/students. If your child has the slightest bit of behavior problems or academic issues, you're in trouble at this school unless you're the owner's kids. This school gets rid of many clients that are problems and when the parents find out what's really happening in the schools, if they actually care about their children, they leave. You can't believe most of what you are told and the administrators are excellent liars. At least that was the experience our family had with them over several years time. There are other quality educators in the area. But as for me, this charter school has too many problems that hinder children's ability to learn and be successful.
