Firstly, they missed the fact that the child has dyslexia; instead citing general learning disabilities and were contemplating holding her back a grade. Fortunately, we had her tested privately and then pushed the school district to make accommodations. She was discovered to be twice exceptional: gifted I.Q. with dyslexia. But, the real impetus for this review was her sixth grade teacher. Here are examples of some of the things that were said (many repeatedly) in the classroom: "Don't talk to me. My alligators are out." "I am so done with all of you. Figure it out yourselves." "You were so bad yesterday that I almost called in sick today." "It's silly to believe in God." "No American should be allowed to own a gun." The teacher unleashed her scorn upon the classes in general, while seemingly targeting certain students for the worst of her wrath (generally boys). I could write a novel based on instances with this "teacher". But, the bottom line is that my child went from being someone who loved school to dreading every single day with this person.

We faced several challenges with how our concerns were addressed by the administration, particularly regarding our son's safety and treatment. A serious safety concern arose when our son received a threatening message from another student, which was documented by the principal in an email to us. However, instead of involving law enforcement, the matter was handled internally, which raised concerns for us. The principal was more concerned about "keeping the circle small." When we brought this to the school's attention, we were offered a "no-contact" contract that suggested our son was equally responsible for the conflict, despite prior incidents of aggression by the other student that we had reported. Our first request, made in January, was to have our son moved to a different seat due to ongoing issues with the other student. At that time, no behavioral concerns were raised about our son. However, after advocating for his safety, we were informed that the other student's parent had accused our son of bullying, a claim that only arose after we voiced our concerns. After refusing to sign the "no-contact" contract and mentioning we might report the matter to the authorities, we were informed that our son could be withdrawn from the school. The very next day, multiple infractions, submitted by different teachers, suddenly appeared overnight, and our son received three demerits, all over the weekend. Some of the infractions were backdated and had not been previously discussed with us. Up until that point, our son had a spotless record with no behavioral issues for nearly two years. He was an honor roll student, advanced a grade due to his academic achievements, and had won school competitions. Given the timing of these changes, we were left with many questions and documented everything. We also observed that certain staff members appeared to have close personal relationships with others involved, which left us concerned about potential bias in how the situation was handled. After speaking with another family who had faced similar issues, we felt that we were not alone in our concerns. This experience was devastating for our son. Overnight, he lost his school, his classmates, and his sense of security, all because we advocated for him. He wasn't even given the opportunity to say goodbye. When I confronted the principal about the sudden accusations, she initially denied any wrongdoing but later removed the reports from my son's record after I pressed the issue. We were left wondering why the reports were deleted if they were valid. Additionally, we were contacted over the weekend regarding new infractions, including one where our son was issued a demerit on a Saturday, the same day we essentially felt we had no choice but to withdraw him. One of the infractions raised involved a claim that our son used a Spanish phrase that he doesn't know, which we found puzzling, as he speaks very little Spanish. This raised additional concerns about the accuracy of the accusations and the handling of the situation. I documented everything, including screenshots of reports that were later deleted. As a Christian family, with myself working in education and my husband in law enforcement, we have always valued integrity and fairness. However, the actions we encountered at this school felt deeply unfair and inconsistent with those values. While we've since reported these concerns to the appropriate authorities, we believe that no child should feel unsafe or be forced out of school due to unfair treatment. It was difficult for us as parents to navigate such a challenging situation and seek basic fairness for our son. The school claims to uphold Christian values, but our experience left us questioning whether those values were truly reflected in their actions.

The teacher is known for getting away with bullying the kids. My daughter went to asked her for something for another teacher and she embarrassed my daughter and made her apologize to her class for what another teacher asked her to do. On top of that she told students in her class that my daughter might not make it to the 8th grade after she left and my daughter has not even had this teacher ever and doesn't know her. fyi my daughter is on honor roll. also told her boyfriend that was in her class to find another girlfriend. All for this one incident of my daughter asking her a question for a teacher. (If she has volleyball from Saturday school) I'm beyond livid and hearing all the other reports on her of making kids do things that make them uncomfortable for her comfort of embarrassing them. I like this school but then keeping teachers like this just shows what else can be slowly uncovering. Honestly taking a lot out of me to not approach the situation accordingly. I was always teaching my daughter no bullying and be kind but my least worry should be a teacher. Gonna take this further up to see if all the incident reports can be dealt with accordingly.

My son loves CAC (he attends a different campus), but I need to write a review for this place, as…read morehe has special needs and I often travel to this location since it's the main campus. The issue I have with this location (and all its campuses) is that administration has terrible communication and accountability. I'm listed on my son's special release forms to be present if he requests it, and though I only go as needed and upon his request, the campus officials will tell me I can't be there (even though the forms clearly give me permission). I'm not there to be nosy or interfere. I'm simply there for the reason my son requested my presence and has given me and the school written consent. For accommodation requests, this has always been an issue where he'll schedule an appointment, go over the accommodations he needs, and receives an email a few days to a few weeks later, saying he needs to send in paperwork that has already been submitted. Not only that, but his teachers at his campus have said repeatedly they haven't received his accommodations, and emailing/calling the main location doesn't do much good because no one seems to communicate. I will say also that Jen in Accommodations is very sweet and thorough--I just wish I knew why her email wasn't shared with the rest of the department when it came to his paperwork because it was never submitted. When the social worker from the state came with him to help him with his accommodations and he filled out written consent forms for her as well, the staff at the Maricopa campus were rude and unhelpful to her, telling her they wouldn't speak to my son with her present. After repeatedly going in person, the staff told him he was set to go but never gave him an award letter, and wouldn't give him information upon request. There aren't a lot of options when it comes to classes, and because of low enrollment even for basic classes for core requirements, they end up cancelled. If you're seeking affordable classes, this is an okay option, but not one I'd personally recommend (and I say this as someone who attended a junior college in very rural, backwater East Texas with even fewer options). I will say that when I do bring him here, and he goes in to set up his appointments, the front desk staff go out of their way to help him, and he never has complaints from their assistance, even if they can't necessarily resolve the issues. Classes are often mixed up on his schedules or cancelled outright without notice, and he often has to come to this location just to receive answers, but he's happy. I write this as a parent of a special needs child entering adulthood, and I want to make other parents aware that this college has some severe communication issues, but does try to be helpful. It's a bit tough to navigate, but they do have locations in the smaller towns that may be beneficial to your children until they prepare to enter a 4 year university. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone unless you want to retake classes repeatedly and have permanent failures on your transcripts because staff can't do their jobs and refuse to coordinate or communicate. Go spend your money on a better school with quality staff.

This is a great school from kindergarten to 5th grade, principle, teacher on assignment, the teachers, even the support staff and front desk.
