I'm not a boxer by trade and haven't even sparred in the ring, but I've been a member since 2021 and use boxing at Easley, whether in class or in my own private workout sessions, exclusively for my fitness routine. I'm halfway to my goal of 150 workouts at Easley this year, and I'm not just happy with the results I see in the mirror or how I feel day to day, I'm happy I've found something that motivates me and challenges me with a community that is supportive and demanding, relaxed but energized, chill but focused. I can't recommend it enough. I hope you'll consider them as part of your health maintenance, and use my name so I can win the raffle.

The real deal. This is not a HIIT gym. This is not an indoor…read morecycling studio, or fitness class in a dark room with neon lights. This is a boxing club; but don't get me wrong, it is fun as heck! I struggle keeping up with gym routines or high intensity classes because you're only ever doing it for the feeling afterwards, or for how they promise you'll look, if only you came back 3+ times a week. Do you know what that's called? You're using those classes as a means to an end. But not here. Not boxing. For me, at least, the very activity of boxing is an ends in itself (that just so happens to give me the fitness and body I've been after all along). It's hard, with tricky combos and footwork, coupled with exhausting, 2-minute stretches of nailing a bag with uppercuts. It keeps my mind buzzing, trying my best to keep it sharp and get the combos right (or helping my partner with their's), and forces me to reach deeeep into my reserves to hit, weave, and power through those moments when you just want to say "I can't". The gym is a no-nonsense, warehouse style venue, with plenty of bags and floorspace for the size of the classes, and a pretty decent split of men to women (though I think there's also a dedicated Thursday class for women?) Any notion of it being intimidating go away completely the moment you introduce yourself to the person next to you. This gym keeps true to what it set out to do, and I think for that reason it attracts that kind of person; no pretenders or showboaters or other such characters. There are some pro looking people, and some very green looking people (like me), and some in-between. People come here because they enjoy the thing they're doing. They're not here to just enjoy the after-effects. Classes are Mon, Wed, Fri, and I hope I can continue to make them all! (And when I don't, boy do I miss it!)

But fitness places I'm a little more discerning. What would I be learning? Are the coaches any good? What's the vibe like? Archetype delivers on all fronts. If you're an experienced boxer and or fitness fanatic, you'll love it. If you're an absolute beginner (me) you'll learn to do stuff you've never done. And everyone there is super duper nice. The workout is a brisk 45 mins and you will be learning new stuff every day. The space is clean, plenty of parking, and the gear is great. They hold these Fight Camps which are a really great way to change your body while learning something new. The coaches are top notch and have the experience and welcoming disposition that is really nice to be around. If you want to try out boxing or have been doing it your entire life, I can't recommend this place enough. You will work hard and you will have a blast.

I was told have too much pride by a student there in the mist of him yelling. He also called me out saying letting me get in there with him. I replied your 100 lbs heavier than me. He continued on and on and approaching me even calling me a bitch. That is when the coach started to intervene and say you might as well shut up because there's only so much of him that I can control his exact words as I caught the drift and he continued on saying that I teed off on one of his guys as I hit him with a body shot and he was the second guy I faced, but they were trying to drop me with headshot so I see no issues as that's what the Coach was calling for them to do to me and I went to his body. But as soon as I disagreed and said, I did not tee off on him he took off his glasses and said you're really starting to piss me off proceeded to jump down from standing ring side grabbed me, shook me up as I was out of breath still trying to walk out the door because he was kicking me out I couldn't even make it to my stuff and pick it up in a timely manner as he was stalking me tell me I wasn't moving quick and then again proceeded to snatch me up and push me out the door as soon as I could pick up my bag, I agreed on leaving and this action was totally unnecessary and humiliating as a fighter as I just let him do his thing as it's his gym and I felt like I was in position to get jumped. I called the police so a police report has been filed. As if I even tried to stop him from assaulting me, I know there would have been greater conflict as once he took off his glasses and didn't try to reason I started to realize there was no bringing him back. I have not been training long or any really in a boxing gym and would have loved to know what I did so wrong especially since I did not start the confrontation and ultimately this is just unsettling and I don't want anyone else to be in the situation that's why was a necessity for me to type this to go ahead and move on as the Coaches name was BRIAN MOSS and even after calling the police they just wrote it up as assault by contact which most likely nothing will be done, but that gave him opportunity to file trespassing against me and I am not allowed in that gym for at least a year this is now conflicts with me doing a smoker and other training so coming out of the situation I actually lost more. Sorry about the grammar and punctuation. Just wanted to get this out of my head so I used the voice to text to complete. Hope I can give some insight on unity combat club to anyone who cares.

Every session is a great workout, but more importantly, you leave feeling like you're building real technique. I've been severely out of shape since Covid because the gyms shut down, and I didn't feel safe going into a gym once they did open up. I was at my absolute heaviest weight I'd ever been, and getting back into shape seemed daunting. With Olivier's help, I am now building muscle, upping my cardio, and shedding weight. He focused on technique above power, which was really important to me because I came in knowing absolutely nothing and of course I don't want to get injured. Now if anyone were to put me in a threatening position, I know I can knee them in the head, teep them, and/or give them a nice punch to the liver. I feel more confident in my abilities, and I feel like I have a healthier, better body.

This gym is tucked away in a small plaza but it is quite homey. There are a few punching bags available. The class setup is typically a warm-up, shadow boxing, partner work, and then bagwork followed by stretching/cool down. They started added a conditioning class twice a week as well which focuses more on strength training over technique. Fernando is one of the owners and he's very kind. He's very positive, encouraging and is patient when helping you or others with technique. This must be contagious because I find my classmates equally encouraging and helpful. I find the price to be pretty reasonable too. I used to go every day and have definitely seen positive changes with my body. Now, I try to go maybe 2-3 times a week to cross training with pole :) If youre looking for a great cardio workout, this is the place to go!
