Located in the heart of downtown Austin (the corner of 6th and Congress) Driven is a personal training studio that offers a variety of personal training, small group (or semi-private) training, and group bootcamp style workouts. The trainers at Driven are among the best and most educated in the industry with years of experience. Driven is a nice quiet place to workout, with a super friendly staff. They are in such a convenient location with full locker rooms, showers, and towels provided. The always have free parking. Their groups are fun and challenging, with a great crowd, and an encouraging environment to workout in. I highly recommend Driven to anyone who wants to experience the best in the industry. It's a full gym offering a variety of classes, equipment, and wellness spa, the best part it has been locally owned for 22 years. Castle Hill isn't the prettiest or shiniest gym. She's funky and oddly shaped and full of good energy. As a VIP member you get unlimited group classes! Including Pilates with reformer, towers, and chairs! Plus yoga. Strength training classes. Rebounders. It's all here. I've never seen any other gym anywhere offer so much. Also, the members take care of this place, wiping down equipment, they don't use harsh chemicals either, it's essential oils so the place has a light hint of pine in the air. Also, towel service in included. Although, castle hill fitness isn't the prettiest gym, she has the most heart, I don't feel like a piece of meat in there, and it's kept clean. Def a fan of this place; the staff, and the value.

There are tons of really nice treadmills, some with a running track that is curved and more rugged like you are running outdoors on a trail. The bikes are great, very updated. I do think the weights machines are outdated and need to be replaced. The TRX area has some classes. They also have several rooms with Pilates reformers, barre classes, as well as yoga, and circuit training. There are fancy stretching machines and massage chairs! Bonus! The sauna and steam room are separate sexes located in the locker rooms for privacy. The showers have good quality hair products and body wash. They even have razors and q-tips as well as cotton wipes. Hair dryers are available too. The pool area is really like a resort it is so nice. Plenty of loungers to relax on and good shade spots. This gym has all the beautiful people haha. Everyone is in like Lulu-lemon and dress to impress. Fun but a little intimidating when you wear old gym closes. They also have pickleball courts and basketball. You can take a pickleball lesson and sign up to play with others when comfortable. Lastly there is a spa and hair salon as well as a food center with high quality ingredients. This place is really really nice. I have never seen a nicer club in my life!

This time it was lifetime who booked me for 60 min when I wanted 30 min. I'm so over the spa here / they never have an esthetician available and charge $95 for a 30 min massage which is expensive by any means and the front desk manager is a bitch!

Away from the crowds, big box gyms is a gym hidden in the landscape of Oak Hill in plain sight and…read morefrequented by a devout group of fitness folks. When I could no longer tolerate the big box gyms, the crowds that flock to them and the bad behaviors that have cropped up over time, I finally made the move to this gym. Sure it's smaller, sure it doesn't have daycare, saunas, pools, giant changing rooms but I consider all those things a plus. People who show up here show up to work out not sit at the sauna and pool all day. The price point is higher than most gyms but not unreasonable. You get what you pay for -- mostly in peace and quiet and an overall more courteous gentler crowd. There is a good mix of equipment that can handle a mix of folks who just want fitness, folks who are into bodybuilding and powerlifters. For the most part all three groups exist in peace. Perhaps the general fitness folks may at times be a little intimidated by some of the louder harder workouts of the powerlifters. But this can be mitigated by changing the time you go. I get overstimulated by such noises so I try to avoid those folks if I can. ( I can be a gentle flower lol) Gender balance. This gym has a very healthy gender balance. Luckily this crowd is not there to find suitors, they are there to work out so no fake eyelashes or clown makeup nor guys just dragging their wings along the ground like turkeys in heat. Please respect this dynamic and don't come here to hit on people. Like most gyms the peak time is 5-7 week days except it's mostly Monday to Wednesday that's somewhat busy during rush hour. But nothing like the big box gyms. It's busy but not impossible to get a workout in like other gyms. Folks are not aggressive with each other, they are kind when they approach you for working in etc. I take a long time at some machines people should be upset but there is no upset, only kindness. They are swapping out some of the equipment and its changes for the better -- mind you what's there is already plenty. This is a small gym floor compared to mix chain gyms. The gym in Lincoln village is slightly larger and the new one in round rock will be huge. The hours are great. Parking is plenty however not endless, sometimes you will have to hunt a little. The gym is clean, bathrooms is clean but could be better. I am just being honest. It's just fine. I have been spoiled by Lifetime and EOS. There is a regular crowd that's been there a long time and they sometimes do exert a little bit of ownership and territorial behavior but they are mostly harmless, they could use the challenge of new faces, and they are perfectly able to adapt and accept newcomers. So don't be intimidated. It's all teddy bears in there. The staff also is amazingly friendly and attentive and keep the place sharp and on top shape and help members. I highly recommend you get a week pass and check it out!

Nevertheless, the downtown location is clean, well-staffed, and has all the equipment and classes you could need or want. I've gone at busy, peak hours and still been able to find spots to work out. I like that there are water stations and towels available all throughout the gym, as well as TVs throughout the gym to help you through your workout. When I joined, I was given a complimentary personal training session and an intro session, which was really helpful in learning the layout of the gym and different workout configurations that will work best for my body and fitness goals. I have also had the opportunity to check out a bunch of classes, too, and my favorite by far has been sculpt with Natalie or with Jay. Both are phenomenal instructors, and I swear I have never sweat so much in my life as I do in their sculpt classes! Worth it! The locker rooms are very clean and well-equipped with towels, shampoo/conditioner/lotion, feminine products, hair care technology (blow dryers, flat irons, etc), mouthwash, deodorant, etc. The only thing I will say is that the sauna in the women's locker room is pretty small and only seats 4-5 people. They also keep it at a pretty low heat for a dry sauna (~140-150) for some reason. Nevertheless, it does the job eventually, you just may not have a spot to sit at peak times.
