The fruit may be good, but the staff was so rude that it made my daughter cry. You have to go across the street to get a ticket before you can check in and get a bucket. This is not posted and we'd never been here before, so we didn't know. If you don't want to get yelled at, get a ticket across the street first. The best place for black and red currants! The owners are unbelievably friendly (even insisted on helping us load the car). They have a huge variety of fruit (unfortunately 2020 weather hit them hard). They make their own wine, cider, jams, salsa and more. Definitely worth a stop. read more

Absolutely the best place for picking Michigan tart (sour) cherries! Just make sure you bring something to take your harvest home in! I'll admit my review is only based on the cherry picking experience, but we go every year. It can be a little confusing if you aren't used to the process as you need to check in at the farmhouse before driving across the street to the cherry orchard. Once you are across the street, there are plenty of folks waiting to point you in the right direction from parking to checking in and obtaining your buckets. Once you have your spot, you'll find your buckets filling in no time! This year we easily picked about 15 pounds of cherries in less than a half an hour (down a little from last year's 47 pounds). When you are done picking, you check back in and they weigh your bucket and head back across the street to wash and pit the cherries (optional). They make it easy to rinse and wash the cherries and then they will run the cherries through their 1940s pitter. The going rate for a pound of cherries is about $1.80...can't beat it! Don't want to pick, then they are available already pitted and frozen. There is also a cute little shop with fresh berries, ciders and other items. Plenty of other berries and fruits available for u-picking. They also recently opened the Lehman's Farmhouse restaurant. Great family owned orchard! read more

This place is so much fun and activities that it offers do help you get out of your normal routine and forget any stress!! I've never even thought that cherry picking can be so exciting and satisfactory. Beyond that, there are a ton of different berries and fruits to choose from. Although it says you shouldn't eat right off the tree or bush, some of the things you pick look so ripe that there is no way you can resist the will to give it a shot. I didn't see black currants sold in Chicago area stors often (or at all), so I had to take some. Since these are really small berries that you have to pick one by one, the bushes were almost untouched (it seemed like people were to lazy to get them). My girlfriend and I got a lot and we still enjoy what we make off them. Oh one more thing, picking currants, I've heard something moving in the bushes, next second I saw a HUGE beaver staring at us. I don't know who scared more, me or a beaver, but we ran opposite directions immediately, leaving my girlfriend laughing behind They also have a store, where you can pick some of their jellys, ciders, wines and a bunch of other good stuff, check them out! read more

I can not say enough great things about Lehman's Orchard. I have been coming here my whole life, and have so many great memories fruit picking with family. I now live out of state, but I love coming here when I visit home. We just went this week to pick strawberries, and had a great time. The berries are really great this year and very abundant. I also spent close to $100 in the little shop buying jams, honey, salsa, and fude to take back to Vegas in my checked bag, because they are JUST THAT GOOD. I'd give this orchard zero stars if I could. Horrible and rude workers at this orchard. We've been picking for over 10 years and travel from Wisconsin to Michigan several times a year. We've gone to dozens of orchards to pick. We've been to Lehman's in the past and they've always been rude and overpriced, but they had blackberries and so we decided to try them again. Never again will we be treated this way. They were completely rude. We got to the orchard an hour before they closed their shop. We had 5 people picking and they told us we couldn't pick the fruit we wanted to pick which was a few pounds of cherries, a bucket of peaches and the reason we came was for blackberries. We called ahead of time and verified closing time as well as what fruit we could pick. The wife was so rude and told us we absolutely could not pick blackberries or cherries even though they didn't close for an hour. We negotiated that if we were quick could we pick more types of fruit because we only needed a little. Again she was so rude. Her husband let us go and pick cherries even though she was not happy about it. We picked 6 lbs of cherries in 10 minutes. We went back to the stand to get a bucket for peaches and we ran to pick. It took us 3 minutes, as we timed it, to fill the bucket. We went back with 42 minutes before their shop closed and the refused to let us pick blackberries. They said we had 10 minutes before they were done and they weren't letting us go pick the blackberries. We got in line to get weighed out and they literally let 2 other groups go pick blackberries and cherries. Not sure what they had against us, but we will NEVER go back. Their parking lot is dangerous as there's no room for bigger vehicles to back out properly, they charge for bags if you don't bring your own, they're rude, their prices are way more than the other orchards in the area. We've never been to an orchard where the owners and workers weren't just so friendly and overall nice. In this market when people make harder choices to where to spend their money and small businesses are just trying to stay afloat, wouldn't you think that your business model would be to treat your customers with kindness and let them spend money that they're willing to spend? Not to chase them out and make them never come back? I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ORCHARD. 2 THUMBS DOWN. Don't waste your money to only be treated rudely because there are many amazing places to go that are owned and run by very kind people that appreciate their customers! read more

The M-I-L and I took a day trip to get some cherries for canning. We picked a giant bucket full in about an hour. Mmm sour cherries. They really manage things so well to keep you moving and all of that. Make sure you bring something waterproof to put your haul in. Like a giant cooler or tote. They have the automatic pitter and let you use it FOR FREE but you have a giant wet mess of cherry after that. We had brought cardboard and quarts. Luckily the guy got us three plastic bags and triple bagging em worked. After pitting cherries for hours as a kid I have to say the automatic pitter was the best thing EVER. We will definitely be back next year. V: Uh yeah, you pick all the stuff off the plants doesn't get much more veg than that. GF: Again, it comes right off the plants into ones own hands so no gluten in cherries. read more

We stopped last summer on our way to our hotel on a whim to pick cherries. Wow!!! This place was awesome. Not only is there ample parking in front of their quaint little country charm store but it's rustic cute and super friendly owners. Today was the first day of cherry picking and after a brief description on where to drive to the trees and load up on supplies we were on our way. Once there we found ample parking and friendly staff that told us what trees to pick from. After hunting for the perfect cherries my daughter and I took our sweet yummy treasure to be weighed and receipt taken back down to the store. This time we browsed the shelves stocked of homemade treats. What I found interesting is their wines that had chunks of fruit and homemade brewed beer. Pretty inexpensive entices you to buy several bottles to enjoy later at home. This farm was very busy by the time we left and were glad we got there when they opened. We decided to make this an annual stop on our way to the beaches so I recommend going and if you live close go when everything is in season. We wish we lived closer but thankful we live so far away because we'd me here a lot. read more

I have had several different products from here ranging from nuts to dried fruits and even some of the wines. They were always mailed to California and had were shipped right away, quite quickly and arrived fresh. I recommend the Pure Pear Wine with a side of Harvest Mix to go with it. I think that this orchard could easily have a five star rating if they could get a few things organized: #1: The parking/diving to the cherry tree situation. Getting into and out of the parking lot is close to a nightmare, with no formal direction other than some caution tape telling you where not to drive. The dirt/gravel path from the barns to the cherry trees is very much so only for for one car- so you have to drive and pray no one is coming towards you. #2: The direction around what to do after you have picked and returned with the cherries. We were left wandering around the "washing" tables for a few minutes before we just started watching our cherries in what seemed to be a bucket of clean water. Aside from those small things, this was an amazing experience. We went the second day of tart cherry season so there was plenty to pick, and we tasted some from every tree and they were great! The pitting machine was super cool to see! And it was all handled by an employee of the orchard so I didn't have a chance to mess it up. You can't beat the price for fresh, pitted cherries, especially if you're going to make wine like we are! If you're in the area and you like u-pick-em fruits, definitely give this place a go! read more

Real deal here. You pull in and they take your license. They direct you across the road. You meet someone else they. They gave us a bucket and we picked tart cherries. Call ahead to see what's in season. The trees were loaded with berries that fell right into our hands. Quick and easy to pick. Beautiful scenery too. We drove back across the road and washed our berries. They then ran them through a machine that took out the pits. About $2 a pound. read more

Had a lovely time with my family picking blueberries here. The woman who took care of us was very sweet and helpful. The grounds are gorgeous and there is a small store with a nice variety of items made from the fruits from the farm. Even though many of the blueberries had been picked before we had gotten there the blueberries we did get were delicious. Overall we had a fabulous time and we will definitely be back and we will be bringing more family and friends with us next time. read more

Their honey roased cashew butter is great on crackers or would even be a good substitute for peanut butter in a sandwich. Even though it is light, it isn't pastey and dry like a lot of natural nut butters tend to be. Instead it is light, healthy and tasty. Even though I'm not generally a fan of dried fruit, I enjoyed their cinnamon flavored dried apples because they were soft and pliable, not hard and chewy like most dried fruits. These reminded me of fresh apple pie and make a great snack. Their "healthy mix" really is that. While most trail mixes are loaded with high calorie chocolate pieces, this one is true to the name with almonds, cashews, walnuts, cranberries, and apples. If you are dieting or health-conscious, this blend will satisfy your hunger without making you feel guilty for cheating on your diet. The last item I tried was their hard apple cider. Fans of hand crafted cider will love this brew. It isn't too sweet, and despite the nice 6.8 percent alcohol content, it doesn't taste overly strong. We've been coming here for years without a problem, but today we had an experience that just rubbed me the wrong way. While picking cherries in the orchard, one of the employees who was handing out buckets and directing cars was screaming profanities about "these f-ing people with accents." He's not just taking, literally yelling about how "you tell them to stay in one row, but they just don't f-ing listen." I always assumed this was a family friendly place, but this experience has made me question that thought. Not only is he shouting profanities, but he's also being quite prejudice. Coming from an immigrant family and bringing a 7 year old to the orchard to pick, it's unfortunate that she has to hear things like this. Hopefully the owners of the orchard don't support the views of this employee, but no one said anything to him. read more

We love the Pear wine. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but this is light and fruity and really easy to drink! I am looking forward to trying some of their other flavors! We've tried the fresh fruit from the farmer's market and it has so much more flavor than anything you can find in the grocery store. This place is fantastic. This is the third year I've gone cherry picking at lechman's orchards. It's very well organized and the cherries are delicious. Once you pick the cherries they depit them once you've cleaned them off. They also have a little shop where you can buy jams, fudge, wines, syrup, etc. I've tried the blueberry wine before and it tasted more like yeast than wine. I wouldn't really recommend it. Overall the place is organized and the people are very friendly. read more

I missed the u-pick because I arrived at around 4pm. BUT, after standing in a long line, I was able to buy some cherries, already washed and pitted. They are the super red, sour variety, perfect for making pie with. I had to buy 4 pounds (more than I needed for sure) for $12. They are very fresh and tasty! I drowned them in Maker's Mark and put them in the refrigerator to consume in a few days. Good stuff. :D read more

I've had several of their products (mail order) and they're all wonderful, but the best - the absolute BEST - are the chocolate covered dried cherries! I've had other brands before (Trader Joe's has them every once in a while, and you'll find the odd one at some local shop), but truly nothing compares to them. They're just the right sweetness both in the chocolate (mild) and the cherries (a bit tart, so they contrast the chocolate instead of being overly sweet). I have to be careful when I buy them because I will eat the whole bag in a week if I let myself! read more

I found Lehman Orchards online while trying to find destinations in SW Michigan. At first, it was just another stop on the map that we were going to make. We bought about $50 worth of stuff - at least one of just about everything. Long story short, I just went there again this past weekend, and picked up 5 of everything. The jelly is ridiculously good, and make great gifts too. At 4 for $15, they're just about as cheap as any 'preserves' you'll find at any grocery store. The apple cider, sold frozen, is a great treat to warm up with during the winter. My freezer had 4 half gallons in it, just waiting for the temperature to drop. Great family owned business. It went from being a stop on the map on the way to a destination to BEING the destination. I even sent my parents there, they loved it as much as I did. read more

My wife and I went for Upick Honeycrisp. The apple trees were so full, it took less than 15 minutes to pick 2 buckets full. I can't believe we'd never gone here before. The absolute best apples we've ever had! From now on we will be coming to Lehmans much more often. Prices are good, product is as good as it gets, the staff is friendly and the location is just astoundingly beautiful. We love southwest Michigan. And now we love Lehmans. read more
