She also invited us to stay for the back-to-school event after we registered, which gave Haley the opportunity to meet her teacher before her first day. Ms. Rhonda, the bus driver, was also an absolute delight. She contacted me ahead of time to explain the best bus stop for Haley since the bus does not travel all the way up to Highland Pines. Her thoughtfulness made the first day much easier for us. Haley had a great first day of first grade and came home smiling from ear to ear. I recently finished a 3 day class at Gunsite for small pistols which are what most people carry on…read morea daily basis. These are pistols with less than a 4" barrel. We started on Friday and finished on Sunday firing 1000 rounds while developing skills shooting targets from 3 yards up to 140 yards. I never thought I could shoot such a small pistol that far and be accurate but I did. Our course also included outdoor and indoor (playhouse) simulators with our instructor requiring us to use only one hand to shoot and also one eye by putting tape over our non dominant eye. Other training included shooting from and around vehicles. Gunsite training is for real world situations and consists of the highest standards. No wonder why it is the oldest and largest firearm school in the US. The facilities here are world class along with the instructors. This class was led by Jim Owens and he was excellent as a teacher and safety was paramount. I always enjoy coming to Gunsite and consider it to be without equal. Yes, it's pricey but you get what you pay for.

He would share with us about his Montessori activities and learnings and how he got to show the other students how to accomplish practical life activities and Montessori focus games like the pink tower, the beads, or the cubes. What a wonderful foundation to his creative mind! We appreciated the 5 to 1 teacher-student ratio in the classroom. The child led, hands on method promoted his independent thinking and fostered problem solving. The teachers and owner, who have tremendous experience in Montessori education, instructed our son when needed (specifically in reading and writing in preparation for attending first grade later this year) and allowed him to manage himself outside the tutorial and circle times. The school really cares about enriching the childhood experience through the Montessori method and is a great choice for a child's education. The Prescott area is very fortunate to have this safe, affordable institution available. We look forward to sending our daughter to Montessori Children's Academy when she is older. Thank you MCA!

Just a short distance away are the entire Heritage Park recreation/ballpark and Willow Lake areas. No one lives there. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott has an amazing campus and the staff and students are all very welcoming. There are many attributes that I appreciate about this university. First, the class sizes are smaller which allows for a more personalized experience for students to establish a closer relationship with the faculty. In addition, to great campus life. There is a lot to do in Prescott, exploring downtown, hiking and taking advantage of what nature affords here. So glad Embry-Riddle is his choosen University.
