Spent a few days in Sedona and last minute decided to do a helicopter tour on our last day! It was a little before sunset, but it was still an amazing view seeing the sun starting to come down on the red rocks. We were lucky to be the only group booked during our slot, so although we paid for standard seating, they let us take the front seats next to the pilot which was super cool! Check in process was simple and efficient. Steve was our pilot, and we felt completely safe the entirety of the tour. Takeoff and landing were both super smooth, and he made an effort to point out landmarks that we had already visited the past couple days. He did his best to make it a unique and personalized experience. Although it was a short ride, it was so worth it and by far our favorite experience during this trip. Spent a few days in Sedona and one of our bucket list was to go on a helicopter ride. Originally our tour was scheduled for 6:30 pm. The front desk offered us the option of a sunset tour. We gladly accepted and hung out at the Mesa Grill (restaurant) which was walking distance from Apex's building. The check-in process was really easy and you take a short car ride to the helicopter. Our pilot for the evening was Steve. Steve walked us through the safety process before departing. That said, the sunset tour in Sedona was absolutely beautiful. There was a few days where the weather was a little gloomy. I highly recommend choosing day when the weather is sunny to do your tour. Pilot Steve was super nice and so was the rest of the staff. We will certainly come back. Our only regret was not doing a longer ride. Thank you Apex Air Tours for ending our trip with epic views of Sedona. Until next time! read more

This tour was the highlight of my trip. I contacted a different company initially but they were not able to accommodate my request BUT he express that I really needed to see Sedona from the air and Apex was recommended. Must do! My wife and I were passing through and quickly booked a helicopter tour for my wife and I. The greeting from Tali was super hospitable all the way up to driving us to the chopper, loading us up and seeing us off. The pilot Steve was super relaxed, friendly and very well-versed throughout the whole flight regarding all rock formations and things-to-do in the area (trails, hiking, ect.,). Added bonus was his playlist he played during the flight made for a very enjoyable flight. We will definitely not forget it! We booked a 9am(?) helicopter tour the night before. That morning we received a call from the company asking if we'd be willing to change our time to 11:15 with a free upgrade to the front seats (we figured neither tour was full hence the offer.) We accepted, arrived a half hour early as required, and were boarded by Connor, our driver who also took our pics and loaded us in and out of the van and helicopter. He was polite and professional, though he did mention tipping 3x during the short ride to and from the helicopter. Our pilot, Josh, did fly us safely, which is the only positive thing I can find to say about him. Clearly, from his interactions with us, he hates people and especially hates piloting tourists. He was rude when we boarded (we've been in a helicopter for a tour elsewhere and that pilot was polite and even appeared to enjoy his job, so proof it can and is actually done.) He treated me as if I was an idiot who was looking to crash us and keep him from getting home to his "hot wife." Turns out, unbeknownst to him, I can follow instructions without being treated like a toddler. Josh, I was seated next to you because my husband, at 6'2 and 200+ pounds, had more room next to the door than had he been crammed into the middle seat next to you. I was gruffly told by Josh to cross my ankles and stay away from the middle parts of the helicopter. He then reiterated if I touched anything between us it would kill us. I mean, I certainly wasn't planning on interfering, but yes sir. It made for an uncomfortable ride but if it kept us all alive it was well worth it. He then asked where we were from, we told him & he responded "I'm sorry." If that had been the exent of his rudeness I wouldn't have mentioned it, but he was just a tool all around. Of course once we landed safely, he pointed to the tip sign and reminded us how to provide a tip...which did not happen. 1) You are literally supposed to keep us safe and 2) I don't tip people who treat me badly. So no, I would not recommend this company if Josh is your pilot. What a jerk. 3 stars because we didn't die and the view was pretty. read more

Our flight was amazing! It started out with Jeff, our pilot, giving our six year old Grandson an Apex hat. He loves it! Our flight was jut under an hour flying over canyons that have little to no access. The rock formations were a step above what we see here in Sedona. Truly amazing scenery. Some of the rock formations look like they belong at another planet. Jeff was an amazing pilot always making sure everyone was doing well. So happy to have checked off a bucket list item. The entire staff was friendly but I want to give a special shout out to Maysen. He was so personable and friendly. He also took great photos for us!! Our pilot, Mauricio (I believe was his name) was also great. The ONLY reason I did not give 5 stars was because the time allotted makes you think the 20 mile ride will be 18 minutes when it was only like 10mins maybe they took into account the short shuttle ride but I do believe that is a little deceptive. These helicopter rides aren't cheap and every minute matters. I added on the option to fly in the front seat. Super cool and I think everyone should experience this once!! read more

We had a fantastic one hour tour with Steve. We had the good fortune of clear skies and late afternoon light painting the canyons with a golden glow. Steve offered great narration as he skillfully maneuvered through multiple gorges, turning so that both sides of the aircraft got a good look at particular sites. We booked on a whim at the last minute (town was pretty quiet when we went) and it was definitely the highlight of the trip. The whole staff at Apex was friendly and efficient. It was so exciting to climb into a helicopter and lift off to fly over such beautiful rock formations. I was a bit nervous before getting in but our driver Levi laid out all the safety precautions and rules and our pilot Steve inspired the utmost confidence. The pilot can make or break the experience, and he broke it. He clearly did not want to be there. The energy was negative, like we were burdening him with our business. Literally asked if we wanted a guided tour- what?...you're too bothered that you asked us if we wanted you to do your job? Not personable at all, while shooting commands.
