We recently cancelled our membership to this organization. It is unfortunately an organization…read morethat does not live up to what we expect out of the YMCA. This YMCA is independent from any other YMCA in Wisconsin. In June of 2014 the board of directors for this Y took away voting rights for members. Additionally this YMCA recently reduced much of the member oversight on the board selection process. The result is an organization run by a few members of the community. And a membership that has little to no say in how "their" organization is run. Over the last years this Y has offered less classes, less events and increased membership prices. The wrestling program never meets at the Y. So if you think that you are going to drop your kid off at practice while you get a workout in you are mistaken. The same with basketball, T Ball and baseball. None are held near the facility. This Y used to have campouts in the summer, running classes in the spring, zumba classes during the week, football skills program in the summer. All these are gone. Free classes? Free reviews with personal trainers? Not here. If you want, the Y books out an hour over lunch for "free" pickup hoops or soccer. Every other class is going to cost you money, on top of your membership fee. I would not advise getting a membership here. Go to 24 hour fitness for a workout. New equipment. Helpful staff. Have your kids attend the local Park and Rec sports programs. They offer great coaches, are much better attended by local kids, and offer a much greater value than this Y. The facilities at this Y are not good. The curbs are all crumbling away in front of the preschool. Potholes are all over the parking lot. When it rains they put out buckets and towels to clean up the water from the leaky roof. In the winter the sidewalk in front of the main entrance heaves up almost 2 inches. The weight machines haven't been upgraded in years. The spinning bikes in the spinning "corner" are in constant need of maintenance. In the summer the gymnastics room smells so bad that they have to move classes out of it. The signage on the building is still sporting logos from years ago. The only thing that changes out in front is the fundraising signs. This Y is always asking for money. Every fall they ask for funds. End of year they ask for funds. Spring? Summer? Yes, they want your money. If your kid does any program they will ask you to sell candy, butter braids, wrapping paper, gardening supplies, candles, or have a cook-out/concession stand fundraiser. That is in addition to the cost of a membership and the program fees. Freeport isn't too far to drive if you must have the Y experience. Dane County, Janesville both have wonderful Y's. Pass on the YMCA of Green County.

First and foremost, every staff member that I've met with or spoken to has been the furthest from friendly as possible. When you enter the gym, the women that work at the front desk avoid eye contact with you or just look at you without greeting or good byes. If you continue to treat people like they don't exist, they won't...At least not at your organization. As a previously member of the Dane County YMCA, this gym is an ugly stepsister. This was my first time tubing in a river!…read more This place is almost two hours from Milwaukee! There's no cell phone reception but you'll have a great time without it. Make sure you download music before you leave home, and bring a speaker to play it as you ride along the river. When you arrive, there's not a ton of parking. I would recommend parallel parking on the streets and NOT parking in the 2 hour spots- those indicate that they will tow. Once you park, you go in a small building a pay for tubes. I believe it's $20 per person and $10 per "cooler tube". In the pictures attached you can see both types of tubes. This place is cash only!! They also have dog tubes. Not sure how much they cost, but they are pink and don't have a hole in the bottom. If you can snag a dog tube I would totally recommend riding in that as the water can get cold, and all my friends said their butts were really cold in the water. One of my friends and I did not have that issue with the dog tube. So once you get tubes, your coolers are checked for glass bottles! They are not allowed. They'll hand you ties to rope all your group's tubes together. You can see what I mean in the photos attached. From there you go to the river and basically tie all the tubes together, get in, and float for 4-5 hours! I would absolutely recommend taking some types of paddles/oars as we often ended up floating towards the banks of the river and had to find ways to push ourselves out. There were a few places you could get out of the river along the way, but at the first stop my friend got out and ended up walking into a bee hive! Stung 5 times. There's no first aid on the river, so if something like this happens to you unfortunately you just have to deal with it. It might make sense to bring a first aid kit just in case! In total there are four "markers" along the river. The exit comes after the fourth marker. When you go under the bridge you know you're nearing the end. When it's time to exit the river, there are employees that instruct you to stand and exit the river, leaving the tubes and all coolers behind. They pull all the tubes in and pass the coolers to you. There are a few portable restrooms there but I didn't use them. We then boarded a school bus (image attached) that took us on a 7 minute ride back to the original ticket purchase building, and that's the end. Overall, I thought it was fun. I didn't like that I had to pay in cash and I also did not enjoy that we were told we'd float for 3.5 hours and ended up floating for almost 5!

I am in Monroe almost every Sunday and I was looking for an indoor range for target practice - and possibly a place to shoot when I retire. I heard about CT's from a fellow shooter and a relative who lives in Monroe. My cousin from Texas was in town and we were looking for something to do - since she brought her handgun, we decided to try out the range. This is a Two-Part Review The shooting was fun - we both enjoyed our time there. The ranges were clean and the lady who checked us in was very polite and very helpful. However - the short, bearded man seemed like he just wanted to give me a hard time. We were asked about needing ammo and targets - I said, we have both. He said that we had to use their targets. When I showed him my targets - he said the backing that holds the targets is too big and the clamps they use won't reach the targets, so I would have to tape. Then when the tape won't hold - the targets will fall off the backing. I told him that I don't use the clamps or tape - I have long "T" needles that work better. Then he said that my targets were too small. My targets are 187 sq. in. - the targets he sold me are 144 sq. in. I don't know about math in the Monroe area, but the school I went to taught me that 187 is greater than 144. So, the question is: if my targets are too small - why is CT's selling smaller targets? Finally, he said, I had to use their targets because, get this, if I let you use your own targets, I'll have to let everyone else use their own targets. WHAT? And what's wrong with that? Does he get a commission for the number of targets he sells? I did everything I could to not laugh - that was the dumbest thing I ever heard of regarding targets at a shooting range. I have even used cardboard from cereal boxes at ranges and have had no problems from the management. He brought up another point about hanging my target - if I hung the target horizontally (so I could use the clamps) instead of vertically, I would be shooting at an angle and cross-firing into other shooting lanes. This is also funny because some of the targets available were wider than mine with target points that would require a person to aim at a greater angle than if my target was hung horizontally. I really have a problem with this, and I will probably be looking for a different place to shoot. I'm sorry - that is just stupid... and maybe greedy too. I've shot at a few ranges in Wisconsin, Illinois and Kentucky - this is the first time I have not been allowed to use my own targets. I also shoot on a Bullseye team in a League - my teammates got a real good laugh when I told them about my experience. First comment was, "What?", followed by, "You've got to be kidding?", and "Where is this place - I'll be sure to go someplace else to shoot." I hope the policy changes, but I'm not counting on it. The entire area quiet and peaceful except for these two families who chose to make it miserable for the rest of us. We've camped at numerous WI State Parks and have never experienced this kind of rude behavior. These campers proudly displayed they were from Oconomowac, WI. Ugh ...!! We ended up moving to another site. Camp office was gracious and accommodating.

Educational programs and food truck Saturdays. Wi-Fi is a little spotty so they recommend cash. The grounds are very clean as well as the restrooms and showers. Definitely feels like you're someplace else even if you're from the state of Wisconsin.

Amazing experience!…read more Ted was in Springfield, Ohio for a barnstorming carnival, and I talked one of my kids and my boyfriend into going for a ride. We took a Local Sight-Seeing Tour - this 15 minute flight is a great experience and offers a nice taste of the open flying cockpit adventure while viewing the beautiful local sights. This flight is $80 per person (fare based on a minimum of 2 passengers and may cost more for a single passenger) Ted was friendly,a great pilot, and took us for an amazing ride and experience that we won't forget. It's BEAUTIFUL here. + 5 awesome hiking trails; some of them easier than others. + Hike (or drive) down to the river from your campsite. There's some good fishing. And our dogs love to swim in it. (Swimming for you is prohibited, however.) + 2 big loops in the campground. Most of them are nicely sized and thoughtfully spaced apart. + Only 15 minutes to Stockton (the closest town) for groceries and firewood. + Eight bucks per night for a non-electrical site. Cons: - I am not there right now. I am at my desk, rotting under flourescent lighting. This is the kind of place that, as soon as we arrive, I'm already saying, "I don't want to go home!" But I want to be completely honest - there are no showers here, and only pit toilets. There are, of course, 2 or 3 water stations in each loop (pump). So, if maintaining hygiene is the number one most important thing for you during a camping weekend, you may not find ARC as perfect as I do. Me? I try my best to make do. The bathrooms here were absolutely in shambles and the maintenance at the park is pretty bad. Please be cautious that your GPS will not work in this area either. Poorly labeled trails as well where you can get lost.
