I went with the BBQ sauce as she informed me, when I asked, that 'Franks sauce' contained Tabasco. They were alright but they weren't going to fill me up for the night. Before the waitress had come down to me I had asked the barman if he had any newspaper I could read. He said he was sorry he didn't but offered me a tourism magazine he had at the end of the bar. (it was in pristine condition and I would say had only been open a few times) After news, tourism would be my next best read in a pub... The staff seemed baffled when we told them, and not particularly helpful. The staff is the hotel's main weakness. There was a very unfriendly woman waiting tables when we went down to the restaurant and our waiter was an absolute snot. He made it more than clear, waiting on us was a big hassle for him. The reason I give the hotel a three is they have a beautiful, inviting restaurant and a surprisingly great craft beer selection. If they can upgrade the rooms to match the restaurant and fire the rude staff, they might have something.

We chose outdoor seating (of which there was plenty), under the umbrellas and by the brick building. The one-way street with the periodic passing of a car, bicycle, or pedestrian didn't bother us. Orders: Lady Olives (app), Bread (side), Spicy Italian Salamella Pizza, Vegetarian and Classic Italian Sandizza, and Cream of White Onion Soup (app). After the adult beverages, the Lady Olives reached our table next and surprised us with an earthy and sweet condiment of basil mayo that complimented the salty olives. Our main courses arrived and I shared the Spicy Italian Pizza and the fresh focaccia bread. The pizzas and flatbreads are wood-fired and the fermented dough provided a nice firm and chewy crust. The flavors of Salamella sausage and the fresh basil, garlic, and chili meshed well with the chewy cheese. The focaccia bread was indeed fresh! Light and airy yet with substance finished off with olive oil. I couldn't let the fresh whipped butter go to waste and each bite melted in my mouth. Everyone else enjoyed their food and adult beverages - Aperol Spritzes, Rockshore Irish Lager, and Prosecco. The service was friendly but slow. Any parent in that situation knows how stressful that moment can be, and you could probably see the panic on my face too because I was trying to prevent a meltdown. Amit, the restaurant manager, went absolutely above and beyond. Despite how busy the night was, he kept going back and forth trying to find a solution for us. They ended up accommodating us at the bar, brought our dinner there, and even lifted the sofa to access a power outlet so my son could charge his iPad. The relief we all felt in that moment was everything. That level of care and compassion is rare and unforgettable. On top of that, the food was fantastic -- the pork chop, rosemary fries, and truffle flatbread were all hits. The cocktails were equally amazing. Their take on a New York Sour and the tiramisu martini were chef's kiss. Huge shoutout to our server, Sumit, who was super friendly and so kind to my son as well. I felt very safe in both the apartment and in the area. Everything you need is within a couple blocks of walking distance. The bus that takes you back back-and-forth to the airport is about two blocks away and easy walk. The sidewalks are smooth enough that it's no problem to roll your suitcase. There's a lot of food choices and a big grocery store right on the same block. That brings me to the food. We did not cook in the apartment, but I suspect we could have if we wanted to put together something basic. There's a microwave and a kettle and a very handy refrigerator which we utilized. The attached restaurant feels like family. They treat you like family. The food was great, although that fish and chips put me down for the count. It's just so much food oh my goodness. I love the fact that they had delicious draft beer on tap, they had fantastic desserts, you could see right into the kitchen and see them preparing some food. Everybody on the whole staff was so friendly. I think maybe they are family I'm not sure about that but they certainly treat you like you are family. We got there early to check in and so we went in the restaurant and they put our bags in the corner where it was safe and by the time we were done eating, our room was ready.
